I've never seen one of his matches, just read stuff here and there and heard a recap of one of his matches in videos... I hope before he does the move he does the whole goku thing and demands all the life forms of earth give him their power.... If not the, what the fuck is he doing with his life? (I say sarcastically.)
Edge's spear never looked good. He's just too skinny; your opponent is supposed to fall back like he's actually being tackled, not crumple down with a swift blow to the gut. The Downward Spiral is infinitely better; if you time it just right in No Mercy you can get about 5 or 6 off before the SPECIAL runs out.
Honestly I much prefer the Gore to Goldberg's Spear. Yep, his Spear looks like a sick ride, but he does it more as a charging double-leg takedown. The Gore is cleaner, smoother, looks less clumsy and definitely less botch-risky.
To play devil's advocate in favor of Edge's spear: 1. The reason his looks weak is because he goes out of his way to protect the guy who has to take it. If the reason he has a weak looking spear is out of concern for the boys, I'm a-ok with that (especially considering how much WWE screws them over in terms of much needed health care coverage). 2. His spear has something no else's does: a really proper set-up. The way he sets it up reminds me of something Stone Cold once said about his Stunner, which was that he really didn't like the move as his finisher until he added the gut-kick as a set-up. By adding that kick, he says, it gave it two things: A. a little extra time between when he initiates the finisher to when he actually hits it to build some anticipation and tension (it is a finisher after all, so having a slightly larger window between when it starts and finishes gives the fans some time to process that the match could be coming to an end), which plays into the second things it adds, B. more options for opponents to counter the finisher; this gives you more storytelling options in the ring to, again, build tension and anticipation with the sentiment of "will he hit it this time or get countered?" which can also be paired with false finishes to raise the excitement of a match. Based in that statement, to me, Edge's spear brings to the table the same storytelling advantages that Stone Cold's Stunner does; first, you've got how it perfectly fits his heel (sometimes anti-hero/cool heel) ultimate opportunist character with the way the set-up makes it clear he's blindsiding a rattled opponent with a power move in a moment of maximum vulnerability (and the hair pulling, hand gesturing, feet stomping, rope-bouncing in the corner, and yelling "Get up!" both amplify this and my next point magnificently - they help further get across that he's seen that this is his moment of opportunity and his own anticipation for it is driving him rabid). Then you have the way that there's just the right amount of time between when he goes to the corner to start the move and when he actually goes for the spear to build the aforementioned character tic-enahanced anticipation/tension of "Is this it? Or how will they counter/reverse it?;" plus the very nature of it being a "going all in on a blindside" attack that, storytelling wise, also makes a lot sense as a a move that leaves Edge vulnarable to an easy counter and you end up with a finisher that checks nearly all the boxes a good finisher should (with arguably the only one unchecked being, does it look good when it hits?, and I'd argue people exaggerate a lot about how weak it actually looks). That said, I'm also a big fan of submission finishers when they're used by wrestlers that actually make the submission look good, and Edge is a technician more than capable of making the Edgecution look good, so I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him start to use it to finish matches again sort of 50/50 with the spear.
The reason edge should quit doing the spear isn't even because of his neck injury. Mostly because his spear is total garbage and always has been and it's only over because it was incessantly pushed. The end of days is visually a million times cooler than the deep six for Baron Corbin. Kevin Owens needs to go back to the package piledriver instead of just aping everyone else's finishers. Also his stunner is garbage
Between Adam Cole's Panama Sunrise and Mysterio pulling off a Canadian destroyer during his matches with Andrade, not to mention Taker and Kane's tombstone piledriver, I feel like they Kevin Owen could use the package piledriver without a problem.

I always miss John Morrison cracking out Moonlight Drive as a finisher. He hit it a few weeks back on Smackdown to no fanfare from commentary but always thought it helped get him over as ECW champion back in the day
I agree, Moonlight Drive was such a great move and I even bust it out on Wrestling Games whenever I can catch someone off guard with it. It's one of my favourite moves for how simple it is.
Honestly, I think there are quite a few others that need to switch up to something else as a finisher. Charlotte's Figure 8 is okay but she was better with Natural Selection. Rusev needs to get off the Matchka Kick and go back to the Accolade.
The calf crusher is also a totally legit leg lock in Jiu-Jitsu as well, albeit called a calf slicer (which is what they should call it when Styles does it)
Personally Edge's spear is my favorite spear. Yeah he might not be a brute like Goldberg but Edge does it in ways that feels vastly more Dirty play than most. I mean keep in mind he was one of the best Heels of WWE. His arsenal of that of a villian/ anti hero.
My only problem with Rhea's Riptide is that she changed it from a sitout move to a kneeling move. I am actually a fan of the move, I really like the original version, not the current one. And, if anything, John Morrison should use the Flying Chuck to finish folks, or the Moonlight Drive if necessary. The C4 always looked bland to me.
Some of these are so obviously right to me that I'm happy this list exists. I feel it's obvious for Kofi, Baron Corbin, and KO. When I pop hard for the signature, and feel the finisher sucks that's recipe for a change. And swapping to the signature feels right for those moves. Trouble in paradise, end of days, and the stunner would be great signatures for these wrestlers. It would make the stunner feel like an homage, but KO not doing an impression of SCSA.
Edge has the worst spear ever he should have never used it as a finisher especially since Goldberg did it way better than anyone and it’s only his set up move

Anyone else remember Edge doing the Edgecution (float the body, DDT???). I loved seeing him do that and he's a professional at keeping his opponent safe and it looks AWESOME!!! As for Styles, as awesome a technician as he is, I have NEVER understood the Styles Clash or how it's SUPPOSED to stun an opponent for the pin.
I really like the jackhammer and Keith Lees one. I like theatrics. Keith Lees is way better than the AA because he crushes down on them and he is a hefty chap. Sit-outs were ruined years ago by being used by lesser men and even I have kicked out of a sit-out powerbomb. Batista is the last great sit-out user. As for Goldberg....nostalgia pops...
Even back in the day I couldnt stand seeing Edge do the spear. I laughed when it became his finisher. Hes so tiny and thin that it's not believable. We called it "the dart"
Edge, tiny? Lol maybe compared to dudes like Goldberg and Lashley. I think it's got more to do with the fact that he never really lays out for the move when he does it. I've seen guys smaller than Edge that have better Spears. To be absolutely fair, that probably has a lot to do with his previous injuries and him protecting himself.
On MOST things, I agree with you but Edge's attempts at submissions really shows his lack of competence at them. Everytime he pulled off a spear, me and all my friends (including Edge fans) would sit and watch and say, "how the HELL does that spear hurt? Looks like Edge bounced himself off the guy more than anything else". He just doesn't before it well at all. Edgecator is crude and the Edgecation just doesn't look very impressive. Now, if you were to instead replace the Edge-cation with the Flash Back/Falling Sleeper, I could see that as Edge's finisher. Edge is not impressive in acrobatics despite his slim build and certainly doesn't have the muscle or stocky look to him to convince me he can do spears, Edgecator's or Edgecutions. The Flash Back works with his reach and slim arms as something that could do well. Edge lacks defnitive technique, agility and strength but he DOES have charisma, speed and intensity. Therefore, I think quicker, vicious-looking moves that use body weight and speed would be better. I'm also a big believer that the Indian Deathlock is ofter underrated. I could see Edge pulling that one off or some variant of it. I think the Front-Face DDT is another possibility for him, again using his reach, height and speed to his advantage, a move that could do devastating LOOKING damage more convincing from the use of body weight rather than strength.
The thing with bliss is if you watch her face NXT run, she was doing all kinds of neat stuff that they neutered when they made her heel. I'm surprised they let her do that backflip knee drop or the twisted bliss still. They changed her moveset when all they needed to do was change her character at the time. There are even videos on her Instagram where shes still practicing stuff like that, but they wont let her use.
I was hoping for John Morrison to reuse the moonlight drive. It looks like a simple neckbreaker but the theatrics is what draws me into it. Specially that Morrison is aging, i think a sudden impact move like the moonlight drive is more suitable for him and it can be used for both big and smaller wrestlers. I can't imagine any of the AoP to go flipping with Morrison on the C4 although that would break out the "this is awesome" chant if that ever happen
i love love love that Adam is back! thank you wrestle talk and thank you Adam for coming back! you haven't missed a beat, your quick witty jokes are still making me crack up
I think he can still do the move but chooses not to because it is bad on his back and due to his age he doesn’t do it anymore. Tyler Bate has been doing it well and honestly I feel like that move suits Bate as a better finisher then the Tyler Driver ‘97

@@GameKnight-wi3ed yeah whats the Swissblade??? Id rather switch The Neutralizar for the Swing

9:59 no freaking way, would WWE allow Kevin Owen to use the *Package Piledriver* again
It's harder to do than the tombstone and far more unsafe
Even if its harder to do, you can at least trust the guy who has been using it for their pre WWE career to make it safe. Example: The Curb Stomp which they banned for a short time but allowed Seth to do it again because he can make it safe. Other moves like the Canadian Destroyer or Panama Sunrise which can be REALLY dangerous can still be pulled off by Rey and Adam Cole *insert BAY BAY* because they can make it safe.
@@holeyschitt No it isn't. The Package Piledriver may be harder but the lift makes it easier to avoid injuries. Literally nobody has ever gotten injured by it

I completely agree Keith Lee’s Spirit bomb should be his finisher!!
I've never seen one of his matches, just read stuff here and there and heard a recap of one of his matches in videos... I thought spiritbomb was his finisher because of how much I've heard him finish matches with it... And the name...
I hope before he does the move he does the whole goku thing and demands all the life forms of earth give him their power.... If not the, what the fuck is he doing with his life? (I say sarcastically.)
Keith Lee can also use the Pounce as a finisher since he pounced Adam Cole into the crowd that one time. But I still love the Spirit Bomb.
Keith lees moon sault should b a finisher of his
Shane Hill the pounce is hard to do as a finisher bc of the logistic of having to cover someone after u throw them across the ring
I'm just curious why they don't call his fireman's carry jackhammer as the Ground Zero. Pretty sure that's what it's called for him.
As much as I like goldberg's spear
I always liked the Gore as well
Honestly I much prefer the Gore to Goldberg's Spear. Yep, his Spear looks like a sick ride, but he does it more as a charging double-leg takedown. The Gore is cleaner, smoother, looks less clumsy and definitely less botch-risky.
bobby lashley had good spear in tna too
Keith Lee should have the spirit bomb as his finisher. Like you said it looks freaking beautiful and has such crazy impact.
You keep saying “Fight me”, but I don’t think you know what that means.
To play devil's advocate in favor of Edge's spear:
Y’all would blame a wrestler getting hit by a truck on WWE

@@wtfmessick see his videos of how wwe should have booked then you won't say him overrated
Plum huh nice
The reason edge should quit doing the spear isn't even because of his neck injury. Mostly because his spear is total garbage and always has been and it's only over because it was incessantly pushed.
The end of days is visually a million times cooler than the deep six for Baron Corbin. Kevin Owens needs to go back to the package piledriver instead of just aping everyone else's finishers. Also his stunner is garbage
kevin owens needs that package piledriver, the thing fits him so well, too bad it is banned
Between Adam Cole's Panama Sunrise and Mysterio pulling off a Canadian destroyer during his matches with Andrade, not to mention Taker and Kane's tombstone piledriver, I feel like they Kevin Owen could use the package piledriver without a problem.
@@mikecabral2420 and not to mention it's completely safe...the dudes taking it always tuck their necks and they r suspended high enough to ever hit the ground at all

Underrated comment
I always miss John Morrison cracking out Moonlight Drive as a finisher. He hit it a few weeks back on Smackdown to no fanfare from commentary but always thought it helped get him over as ECW champion back in the day
I agree, Moonlight Drive was such a great move and I even bust it out on Wrestling Games whenever I can catch someone off guard with it. It's one of my favourite moves for how simple it is.
Moonlight Drive is a thing of beauty, and a picture-perfect finisher that fits Morrison
Keith “Goku” Lee The Spirit Bomb looks boss
I love braun and I know I’m prolly in the minority but I think he can do something better than the power slam 🤷🏻♂️
Give him anything, he’s a giant strongman. The powerslam is the power ddt
Give him the inverted choke slam or a inverted power slam instead of a normal one
The Braun powerslam would be fine if he actually did a powerslam. He USED to do a powerslam at the beginning but now he just does a forward AA.
He is boring
A powerbomb would suit him.
Honestly, I think there are quite a few others that need to switch up to something else as a finisher. Charlotte's Figure 8 is okay but she was better with Natural Selection. Rusev needs to get off the Matchka Kick and go back to the Accolade.

The calf crusher is also a totally legit leg lock in Jiu-Jitsu as well, albeit called a calf slicer (which is what they should call it when Styles does it)
So glad you’re back
Thanks for watching!
Personally Edge's spear is my favorite spear. Yeah he might not be a brute like Goldberg but Edge does it in ways that feels vastly more Dirty play than most. I mean keep in mind he was one of the best Heels of WWE. His arsenal of that of a villian/ anti hero.
Can we please get Adam during PPV review and PPV live reactions
edge: so many people do the spear he shoukd change
rhea ripley: do a big boot
i still prefer a spear over a big boot change my mind
It's more like, so many people uses the spear better.
You gotta admit, when Test did it, he really looked like he just kicked their head off.
Nick Chavez difference is edges spear looks BAD and ripleys boot looks murderous
I remember the Edgecator, that was a good finisher move
My only problem with Rhea's Riptide is that she changed it from a sitout move to a kneeling move. I am actually a fan of the move, I really like the original version, not the current one.
And, if anything, John Morrison should use the Flying Chuck to finish folks, or the Moonlight Drive if necessary. The C4 always looked bland to me.
Ah, it's good to see you back in the field, Adam.
Calf Crusher (AKA Calf Killer in TNA) Is a good way to end a SUBMISSION match, not regular matches.
Adam. Your voice takes me back.
Incredibly happy you have returned. ✌
Honestly just waiting for “HHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUEELLO THERE! I’m Adam from WrestleTalk”
Does Adam respond to comments?
If so.. we all missed you
Ok. I'll reply. Lol
Edge has the worst spear ever he should have never used it as a finisher especially since Goldberg did it way better than anyone and it’s only his set up move
For a brief instance AJ called it the "Styles Smash" and I was fine with it. Dammit Vince.
Terrible move like The Super Man punch except it's worse because AJ is small and it looks so weak.
@@DUB_87 The thing with the superman punch even though yh it's a shite move, it's a perfect signature and works brilliantly with Roman Reigns seeing as he looks like he'd crack your skull if he connected with one.

Is anyone remembered "Spiral Tap" as AJ Styles' finisher? Much better than Phenomenal Forearm.
But Styles Clash is still the best finisher for me!
Yes! Such an awesome move.
The Jackhammer should be the setup for The Spear instead of the other way around and I'll fight you if you disagree!!
Fight me!
As someone else who worked backstage at a local wrestling promotion, I can confirm all wrestlers want to do backstage is hit each other with stunners.
More Adam! More Adam! Push him to the moon! Make him look strong damn it!!!!
I like the jackhammer, but i agree that Goldberg should just use spear as a finisher. The jackhammer after a spear is just too overkill.
10:41 Adam’s rant about Olie’s tea is bloody amazing 🤣
These rants might be the reason Oli went over the edge
i couldnt breath
TheRedOctoberProject edge is smaller for a spear
Nobody does top 10 wrestling list better than Blampied! Good to have you back.
Unbelievable! What a marvelous intro!!!!and a fabulous script!!! Love Adam for WT!!

You could replace AJ styles's phenomenal forearm with Spiral Tap as well. Remember Spiral tap anyone??
I think he can still do the move but chooses not to because it is bad on his back and due to his age he doesn’t do it anymore. Tyler Bate has been doing it well and honestly I feel like that move suits Bate as a better finisher then the Tyler Driver ‘97
@@liamhemstock2286 Tyler Bate does it better imo. Like you said, Styles is getting there with age & he's a heel so it wouldn't make sense since the Spiral Tap is more of a face type move

I don't agree with replacing end of days with deep six . Na , it's a great move but emd of days looks more disastrous
You already listed one that needs a change in finisher as a side note. Cesaro. I'd switch it out for his Swissblade move.
On a different note, I was so happy when Jack Gallagher changed his finisher a year or so ago from the running turnbuckle dropkick to his headbutt. I realize he slaps his thighs when doing it to make the sound, but the way it can be sold just makes it great.
