Putting the wire on the fence for the lambs made me smile. My lambs have figured out how to slip through the spaces on the cattle panel fence. They act as if they're so proud of themselves!!! 🙂
You may want to bucket train the lambs. It is a method of using a bucket of food to get them to follow you wherever you want them to go. That will in the long run make it way easier to get them to a fenced off area. 😉
Wow, those sheep are little eating machines. I think you have the makings of a nice little herd there with Daisy, the lambs and Bella. And they are all so stinkin' cute!
Great shot of the hatchlings! We have robin nests (all full of babies) on THREE of the downspouts at our hose. They’re out of the weather up there so I consider them highly intelligent. Other birds are out there getting wet when it rains. 😊
My garden is booming! I just made my second harvest of mustyard, and am picking radishes, lettuce, salad onions, and strawberries as needed. I have Swiss chard ready to harvest. In about three weeks, the potatoes and garlic will be ready. The tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, lemon squash, crookneck squash, ground cherries, cucumbers, and cantaloupe are flowering and setting fruit. I have a lot of different herbs, newley planted fruit trees, and flowers growing. All are doing great! The potatoes are on schedule, but everything else is a month ahead of schedule. Two harvesrts of mustard greens already, unbelievable. Alabama zone 7B
Well, Brian. Weather has been a little wacky here too. I'm so proud of what's happening with my veggies, and then we have had a week of freezing temps. I've been covering everything with sheets of plastic at night and so far, so good. Some burnt leaves but nothing gone yet! The first night of cold temps also brought winds of 30-35 mph. Such fun spreading plastic in gale force winds. lol On the bright side, my weeds are doing fabulous. Happy to see the brothers doing so well. Take care.
What a great picture of Bella protecting Daisy! LOL. It is too cute. For the lambs' tether, why don't you erect a really tall flag pole and attach long piece of line/rope/cord at the top that extend out far enough so if they want to they can go as far as you allow. If each tether was on a spring reel (kind of like your hose reels), they would retract when loose enough to take up the slack. This way they can walk in any direction without the rope getting wrapped around the pole or furniture you have in the yard. Temperature wise it sounds chilly there. Here in South Carolina we've already had 90 degree days and at night it usually is in the 60s or maybe 50s. My protected back yard was 100 degrees today in the sun.
Love to see Bella & Daisy finally getting close, and the Lambs are adorable ! What I did notice was on the gates, just the wire at the bottom, could the lambs figure out eventually that they could just push the wire to escape the pasture ? Can Bella's old dog house be adapted for a "pasture shelter" for the lambs; maybe with a "window" or two for air ? The first Iris you showed & wasn't happy with looked just fine on my computer, the color looked deep purple which contrasted lovely with the pink flowers behind it.
Yay! for Bella helping with gopher control and yay! for getting to see the tomato plant pruned and restrung. Glad to see Bella and Daisy hanging out together and the lambs are adorable! Brain, you have inspired me to plant fruit trees in my front yard (crazy I know, but i think it might be cool!). Now i just have to decide which kind. Things are coming along and I look forward to your announcement. Also, any update on the #tomatochallenge2024 ?
I was wondering about the tomato challenge too, but then it occurred to me that maybe Brian doesn't want to give away his secrets! 😜😂 Like, maybe he doesn't want his competition to know just how well he's doing. 😉😁🤩 Whatever happens - I'm cheering for Brian!!! 🎉👏🥰🍅
that is so much stress for the sheep being picked up and walked to the grazing area. Lot‘s of adrenaline and cortisol production, which can take up to 3 days to reduce to the normal level. Maybee you have an extra Bella leash you can attach to them, so they can walk to the grazing area 😊❤ ❤❤
That first pink rose you highlighted was so big and perfect it almost looked like a peony! It amazes me how much you have accomplished since you moved. I can hardly wait for the orchard development and the 'vineyard', pasture, pond, etc. I 've really enjoyed watching how the landscape has changed. Schreiner's Gardens (online) is my go-to for Iris bulbs. It's like looking through a box of crayons for your favorite colors.
Boy those little critters can sure munch up some greens! Looks like your plans are coming together just as you envisioned! And don’t worry I’m a big boy I won’t freak out if you don’t put out a video on your usual schedule.
So glad you are OK! In the gardening video you sat in the same place the whole time and then when you did not post for this channel I was afraid the knee had taken you down. Glad there will be good news coming and you are up and about. The cottage garden looks absolutely beautiful. The lambs are the cutest! And so nice to see Bella and Daisy together.
It's been in the mid 60s at night here(Georgia) & mid 80s with Humidity during the day, my tomatoes, zucchini & squash are all exploding needless to say, some low 50s over the weekend but not an issue, this spring has been balmy for us, when in years past we can have some cool weather in early May.
Love the huge foxglove. I have them here in BC around my yard. Never know where a new one will pop up. Also love your roses and that huge Iris! Kudos on that cottage garden!!❤
I needed to see that beautiful, lush cottage garden today that sprung up without anyone tending or noticing. Feeling inspired rather than overwhelmed and discouraged now. Yay bulbs and perennials! Thank you. 🎉
Wow!! Everything is amazing! Brilliantly done. We moved out of So Cal 4 yrs ago to Idaho and you have been such an inspiration of great ideas for our small homestead. Keep up the great work and your great videos! 🪴🌻
That cottage garden looks absolutely fabulous! The lambs are so cute and it’s good to see Bella hanging out with Daisy. I know what you mean about the weather. It’s crazy! Up here in Zone nine A, 4 days ago we had lows of 42 and hail with a thunderstorm, luckily none of the plants got too severely damaged but I’m so glad it’s warming up. My peppers did not look happy but now they finally perked up along with the tomatoes. Great video Brian ❤️🌟👍
I’m in NorCal zone 9b. I have a Sungold that is on its 5th season of production. I had my first ripe tomato at the end of April. I have tried overwintering other varieties with out much success.
You know it's good luck to have birds nesting on your property! The babies are adorable and your garden is gorgeous! A friend fed his rabbits rose petals as a treat, and the bunnies love it.
woo hooo filming companion planting! Im hoping to get more information than in your book. You are moving better,so you must be feeling better. Thank the Lord for the healing! Sweet lovely lambs! What a joy! And the cottage garden is lovely indeed. Im curious why you have the drip tape with the white strip and drip holes up, instead of face down into the soil? Thanks.
Pam here…anxious to hear your news…exciting to see Bella bloom she is concerned about the Boys and Daisy …starting to have watchfulness over them! 20:16
That was a terrific moment to see Bella and daisy laying next to each other. Soooooooo Cute. The lambs are adorable! love them. Tying them up is great idea. Your garden is beautiful Brian. you've done a lot of work. I still love the wood stumps as a fence area . We are in the tree business and have been using some for decorating. I know you must be enjoying the fruits of all your labor. Love your videos.
Thanks for showing this. I needed something to watch till it's not so hot outside, 87 right now. Gonna finish filling two of my raised beds with more material this afternoon. The lambs are looking good and love that Daisy can just come and go now and that Bella is finally bonding with her!
So, I’ve been watching your videos for a year now and you’ve taught me a whole lot, which I’m grateful for. I don’t have a set up like yours, but compared to what it looked like last year, it’s not bad. I enjoy spending time in the garden and watching things grow. I put together a short video of before and after pictures and it’s on my channel.
The cottage garden is gorgeous! All that rain?? Bella & Daisy. 🥰🥰. The lambs are just too cute. Baby fruit! Everything just looks so nice. How is the starting from scratch garden coming along? A great video, as always. Thank you so much for sharing. Blessings
Why not walk the sheep on a leash leash when transferring them to the weedy areas. Save your back, they are just going to get bigger. And that way they will be used to a lead.
Oh my gosh, those lambs are soooo cute. Hopefully they'll be hard workers too. You've done a great job on directing the property into your vision and it's beautiful. Awesome.
In a video on weeds, you asked about blow torches for weeds. I haven’t done that but I have used boiling water, and it works. Every spring I pour boiling water on the weeds that come up in driveway cracks. It knocks them down for the year. Obviously not great for big areas, but works for small areas like that.
❤ Great 😂 video. I have overwintered peppers, tomato (Sweet 100 and Early Girl) and an eggplant. I think we are warmer in Central California-Bakersfield- and they are in more protected. I have harvested peppers, eggplant and a couple of tomatoes and will have to use shade cloth soon. Love the animals and they make me happy to watch.
All your animals are too stinkin' cute!!! Daisy's ears when you were skritching her, the lambs nodding "yes we want to come out", Bella just being Bella. I don't know how easy Bella's quonset hut is to move but could it be a shelter for the lambs when they're grazing? The cottage garden is truly magical - so beautifully full of flowers. Seems like everyone's having puny tomatoes this year. For me, it's been my tomatillos - slow to sprout and then not growing. Fingers crossed they do better once I get them planted out.
My sympathies on losing the dog controller. We’ve lost a couple too. Not cheap to replace either. Cottage garden looks great. We are just getting started in the yard, 40s at night here. Love watching all the animals, especially Bella.
Interesting on tomatoes. I suspect they could well be over-wintered. Either in a greenhouse or grow tunnel canopy over them. They seem not be fussed about 'season' or time growing, but will easily perk up again when the weather turns warm, which happened here this year, late burst of nice weather. I do have much colder winters than California, so to do that, I would likely need a heated greenhouse.
Love your property. It’s got everything I love, except being in California, land of my birth, but glad I’m not there anymore! And that garden and cottage, love!!! ! It’s Texas for me and mine! 😎
I actually took a sucker off a Black Krim cherry tomato and put it in dirt. I then put it in my window all winter and it lived. I’ve planted it outside and it’s growing so we’ll see 😊
My ❤ stopped for a second when I thought you were grabbing your Felcos to clip the chicken wire. You do know you would have had all of us come unhinged if you did. 🤣 I think you would have been sent to Felco jail. Everything looks great and I like the dark purple iris. Also, I must be a horrible follower…I never keep up on when your videos are late. Who are these people and why do they feel so entitled? It’s your channel and I feel grateful whenever you bring us along. Look forward to the good news you’re going to share, I’m sure we will all rejoice with you
I may have told you before but u need a Plucot tree. I got mine about 4 years ago from Bay Laurel nurseries in California. It has 4 varieties grafted on it. This year it must have at least a bushel of fruits on it. I wish I could send u a pic. It has Flavor King, Flavor Queen, Flavor Supreme and Dapple Dandy.
Geez - I had about a dozen beautiful baby tomato plants I grew from seed since January. Too big for the kitchen so I put them outside. Needless to say the low nighttime temps have about ruined them. I’m thinking I need to start more seeds?! Today is the first day the nighttime temps will be in low 50’s🤨
I experienced a trauma a few days ago. A cardinal nest was made in my young peach tree and it had 3 beautiful blue eggs and they have been there for about 3 weeks. Two days ago, I started hearing a commotion and saw mama and dada cardinal squawking at something in the tree and then I see a squirrel come out eating a baby cardinal!!! I started yelling and trying to shoo it away. Also used the water hose on it to spray it away. But only one egg was left out of the three. So I am waiting on some stuff that will help with the squirrels climbing up my tree, spikes. The survivor baby cardinal hatched and has been getting taken care of by dada and sometimes mama cardinal.
You have my sympathy. 😭❣️🙏 Squirrels are such a nuisance! I had ongoing problems with squirrels at my last home. They ate my birdseed, but even worse, I truly believe that squirrels ate my precious hatchling turtles 🐢🐢. They were not tiny babies - I had had them long enough to become attached. They were thriving and growing, and then one day - they just weren't there anymore. 😭 Shortly afterwards, there was a squirrel perched on the edge of their former sunning pool. Good luck 🍀🤞🍀🙏🙏🙏 with your final baby cardinal. 💝
The corral gates look to be a lamb super highway, and will likely need a board across the bottom each! The lambs will both look at it and go "challenge, accepted!"
Everything looks so amazing! And thank you so much for showing us your animals! I'm so excited to go on this journey. I live in town so I can't have animals.
Nice to see Bella warming up to Daisy.
Us too!

And now we know why squirrels are called "tree rats!"
Thanks for the visit today. Always love the time you spend with us.❤
Thank you!
The corral gates look to be a lamb super highway, and will likely need a board across the bottom each!
The lambs will both look at it and go "challenge, accepted!"
Yes 😆
Everything looks so amazing! And thank you so much for showing us your animals! I'm so excited to go on this journey. I live in town so I can't have animals.
Happy video! Been wondering about all your fur babies etc. Glad to see everyone is well!
I've missed yall ! Humans & animals
Your cottage garden is so beautiful! You did a great job. I like the steps you did, too. You lambs are very cute😊
Thanks so much! 😊

You could use the shade you built for Bella for the lambs. I can’t wait to see your lambs and Daisy together!
That’s a good idea. Thanks!

Hey Brian, could the dog house be a temporary shade for the lambs? Thank you for this update!
Possibly! I may have to give it a try.
