Tips For fishing a Wobble Head

  • Do you need to cover water but a crank bait is just snagging up to much? This Bait in the fall or any time of year can cover water fast and get the same reaction bite that a crankbait can. It can replace so many baits from a jigs to crankbaits to Carolina rigs. It's one of my go to baits.
    The wobble head is a go to rig for me. Especially the Mustad tungsten with interchangeable hooks. The wobble head can be fished supper fast of the bottom to create erratic action and get those reaction bites or the swing head can be fished off the bottom with a swimbait for an extra unusual action. With interchangeable hooks the possibilities are endless.

    I've been burning them up on the Biffle bug the last two trips to my local lake. There is nothing but silt bottom and WOOD. I really like the idea of being able to change the hook because sometimes I like to go with a larger hook, if the bait size will let me. That is a cure for short strikes. I'm using the Gene Larue heardhead in 11/16 oz. and it does a good job as long as I don't need a bigger hook.

      @@BassGeek I’ve been struggling with my GoPro all year. It seems like it starts and partially through my video it shuts off. I put a new SD card in and I’m going to try this week. I have a fishing trip on the Niagara River on Monday and I want to film it. Just want to make sure I have it setup right

    This one pond I hit has a lot of snot still, ploppers do it day and night but I loose em sometimes in the snot, would a dark buzzbait be better(evenings)? I got a toad buzz bait 3/8 but you have to burn it for it to swim right... A vid breaking down a Buzz Bait vs. Whopper Plopper? I need to give my wobble another go, but I like the sound of that mustad...😅

    Q= noticed the wobble head you showed was unpainted. Do you prefer unpainted heads?

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      It originally was painted but I’ve beat the paint off it. Lol. I don’t mind either way honestly. Some people want it all to match but it’s like matching flipping weight colors black always works. I think color on the head (as long as it’s not some crazy color) don’t matter that much

    On bladed swim jigs what size hook do you recommend on a 2.8 inch paddle tail

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shew on a swimjig. That's tough 3/0 is as big as I would go. 2/0 is a good one. 3/0 is a touch big and 2/0 is a touch small but both work. Now finding a swimjig with that size hook?

    If your pursuing a reaction bite, I'd recommend vivid color and active appendages. If their mood proves otherwise, then it's a non kicker & less vivid color. I'm not ashamed to spend a couple of hours banging the bottom around a laydown post front & low visibility for one bite.

    Those mustad fastech heads get wrapped up around that jig eye with tons of grass bro,and the they open up at the eye on a heavy hook set,not for me

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never had a problem with a hookset opening it up or getting wrapped. I've used both the strike king and the Mustad which are made pretty much the same. It's a football head not really a grass head. Now strike king makes a structure head that has a point it comes threw grass better but you can change the hook.

  • @exconcurly
    @exconcurly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does work great on rock,and timber,you should have thrown it in grass

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now in the grass there is a head made by strike king called the structure head it has the hooks on it but it's pointed. That works better in grass.

    • @stoneysdead689

      Depends on what you want to do with it- if you're looking to deflect off stuff on bottom, like a crank- I would strat with 3/8th and adjust from there. If it's digging in and getting stuck too much lighten up- if it's wanting to rise too much when you reel- you keeping having to stop and let it fall back- you need a heavier head. But- if you're throwing a swimbait an want to keep it up in the column- you might need something as light as 3/16ths. From he bank , more often than not I end up at 3/8ths- that allows me to reel it pretty fast with a 7:1, deflect off the rocks- but not get bogged down in them. But I've had to lighten up to as little as 1/4 ounce to- just depends.

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I agree with Stoney. 3/8’s is a great start hold the rod tip up just a little to keep it coming over the junk.
