One of the pens in my arsenal that still needs to be experienced. Love Faber-Castell products.

Thanks for this. I like all my Faber-Castell pens, regardless of price range. Looking forward to adding this one to my inventory.

    Hi Mick
I bought the Hexo in black with a F nib. Delivered via express post for AUD 73 from Pen City. To me it writes like a M nib so ordered another one in EF.
Also I bought some sample sepia inks from Pulp addiction.
In other words you're the enabler in my fountain pen addiction 😂.
    Regards
    Mark

I've got one of the black tin sets on order. Also picked up Artisan Sigaro Red Ring Fountain pen with a broad nib. Writes well. It was a fortnight late in arriving by truck after a plane wasn't available. I find the nib on the Grip to be very good.

Just writing is a good quality! Those are understated, but still nice looking pens.

Really excellent pen for the price. When I post Lamy AL-Star, rim of the cap digs uncomfortably into web of my palm and it feels a bit unballanced. Not a big issue on Safari but keeps me from using AL-Star at all. Hexo doesn't have these problems, have chunky and comfortable grip, is light, has good clip and uses international standard cartridges. I would choose it before AL-Star any day. I have F and M nib, both smooth, smoother than my Lamy F and M ones, which could be good or a bad thing, depending on your preferences. For me, Hexo is one of the best in a class, only gripe for me is loud logo on the side, which is really visible on black variant.

Thanks for posting your video of the Hexo pen, I wasn’t familiar with the Hexo so had to try one after watching. Excellent pen and value.
As a side writing lefty I chose the EF nib and it really writes nicely. I already use several Graf Faber cartridge inks and loaded the Hexo with GF carbon black . Very nice

How dark is that Faber-Castell Schwarz (Black) ink? Is it comparable, lighter or darker than, let's say, the Cross black ink?

I got one and all is fine to me, except there is still some little movement between section and barell after it is "locked into place", as you called it. Is it typical for that pen?

Hi Mick, do you think that this Faber Castell nib is comparable to the size of a Kaweco Sport nib? I wonder because that is generally the size of some vintage nibs I have, and the Hexo might be a perfect nib holder for them.

    I do like that ballpoint.

The pens looks pretty cool an seems to perform pretty well but for 40 bucks, I feel like FC dropped the ball on this one.
For one you're given a #4 nib that's semi-proprietary as not many manufacturers sell them an second, no converter which if you're buying a FC brand then you're looking to add either $6-$9 which in total is either $46 or $49 an I doubt that's a price a beginner would pay.
I do also think it would be a hasty generalization to say that the hexo's nibs aren't as good as FC's #5 nibs, which is based on your anecdotes an I doubt that's enough to make that claim, either way enough rambling, the video as always was enjoyable, so please keep up the good work.

I.C. Just going by my own experience with the handful of #5 and the handful of #4 nibs, my personal preference is the writing experience with the #5s. From what I have found they are smoother and have a more generous ink flow, as well as being ergonomically more comfortable. Everyone will have their own preference of course.

The shape of the Hexo definitely seems to be more ergonomic for most people as opposed to the Safari.

CHRIS LJ Yeah, I think they have given the ergonomics of a long writing session a lot of thought on this one. It’s very comfortable in the hand. It’s not designed to teach someone how to write like the Safari
