I’ll have to get one of these. I never use my Loom because of its grip, but I can see this as an EDC pen. The almost Japanese-thin EF nib makes it a good option, the cap is not disproportionately large and plastic makes it easy to carry. I can use the pen but I won’t have to fret over it. Thanks for the review.

I have a few of these pens. I really like using them. They are very comfortable to write with. The bumps on the barrel are not even noticeable when you writing with the pen. BTW, I love their extra fine nib. I like that it is truly an extra fine nib. Great video. Thx.

That looks like a good Lamy alternative. I'm not a fan of the Lamy Safari style, but this pen's more traditional look is appealing.

Ed Reilly I really couldn’t agree more

I own this pen, i mean to point out that the nib can be rotated. So, despite the forced grip on the section, the nib can be adjusted to get the right writing angle.

The nib on this also fits into the TWSBI Eco. I find that the Eco looks quite a bit better with a nib with broader shoulders.

I always like their logo and branding on pens as it just looks so refined and classy, and makes them look more expensive than they are. The "Grip" is $20 here in the U.S. and the "Hexo" is $40. I'm not wild about the warts on the body, so I think I'd pay twice as much and get the "Hexo". If the broad nibs write as well as the one on my "Loom" then that's definitely what I'd want. I'd like to get one of those catalogs as F-C does have a lot of interesting products.

CHRIS LJ I think the Hexo is a really good pen. Very different from the Grip or Loom... or any F-C pen I’ve tried. The nib is different to the Loom, I don’t find them quite as generous. But they’re still nice... and a step up from Lamy in my personal opinion.

I own one with a fine nib. The nib is not as silky smooth as those found on Faber Castell Looms but it writes well without skipping and hard starts. Best to use a Faber Castell converter as some other standard international converters won't fit.

Andrew Holmes yeah, not all standard internationals are standard

Does the Faber-Castell iridium-tipped nib a smoother writer than the Lamy Al-Star, pllease? I loved your concise video. Many thanks!

What is the extra fine nib pen you mentioned in the video that had the smoothest writing?

I was wondering about the round cap (in diameter) on the slightly triangular body… Does the cap close really well, or did you notice any drying up of the pen?

Denkend Mens no more than any other plastic pen. Where the pen secures is not around the triangular body, but at the top of the section right near the nib.

Is it still in production or in Australia now the Hexo is in the pipeline?

Andrew Hoffman yes. The Grip is going to be a focus of Faber-Castell in Australia. The Hexo isnt slated for official release in Australia yet

Can you seal it and eyedropper it?

    • @theoffstageme

Brian Cullen in theory... putting an O-ring and and some silicone grease on the threads it could be possible. Ive not tried it, but theres no metal parts so I dont see why not

If you mean to ejedrop this pen, i suggest you to get not a black/dark color, because it becomes more prone to blob the ink when exposed to daylight.
