During my long hiatus from 1995 to 2015 many good to excellent synths were released. The Andromeda is the one I regret most to have missed. What a beautiful sonic character!
This is NOT just another soundset demo - This is piece of art by itself. Great sound design! Sadly, I don’t have Andromeda, but 100% enjoyed listening this. BTW, TX16W definitely has something special in its sound. Thank you, Don, for putting this together.
I’ll be purchasing this soundset once I get more familiar with my andromeda which arrived today. If you’re on the fence about the andromeda, JUMP! I started buying synths in 1985. Too many to count have come and gone. I almost considered buying the andromeda in 1999 but I couldn’t shake that it was ALESIS! A 16 voice poly from ALESIS? I AM SO ANGRY AT MYSELF FOR WAITING SO LONG! NO ANALOG SYNTH IVE EVER OWNED CAN COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THIS MASTERPIECE SYNTH! I only played it three hours and it was already obvious that the andromeda is in a class all by itself!
Beautiful!! Had this playing in the background and Phat Reso was like a lost Miami Vice soundtrack. Lots of other great patches here as well thanks Don.
I adore the A6 for its sounds. Despite all its possibilities, programming is very straightforward. The keyboard is one of the best I've played on a synth. But then, all those parameter jumps that drove me crazy. The dustfilled noisy pots. The certanity of not getting spare parts anymore should something break. Those really terrible effects. I think all in all it was a good decision to sell it after many years. If Alesis only had the chance to develope an improved version...
As a 13 years user of an Andromeda (since 2006), I really felt the Moog One was the A6 2.0 that I expected. And since I got the One in 2019 I must have used the A6 only 3 times in 2020 and not anymore since… Still like the A6 very much but I find the One to be significantly better tone wise, UI wise and also feature wise, even if the A6 has a few things the One doesn’t (S curves, Sine, more multi-timbrality) . Then of course the One cost me 4 times the 2000€ I paid for my brand new A6 back then … but it is definitely worth it 🙂

A6 is now insanely expensive. For mint, unpacked time machine condition one I got the offer 5.5k. I think it is fair price given capabilities.

Andromeda is my favorite polysynth based on sound and features. But I would be scared to own one because it could brick at any time.

Because it happened to small bunch of owners only. I bought two 20 yrs ago (one for spare parts) and never ever had a problem.
