    Thank you for this! I just used this video to make my own handfasting cord made of ribbon, and after the first few weaves it was very easy and straightforward! I used 4 different colors of ribbon and then used thinner gold ribbon for the stripe - it was challenging to keep the thinner ribbon aligned in the center but other than that it worked great and I'm grateful to have found this video!

    My wedding is in 18 days and we're doing a handfasting ceremony. I had no idea what to use or how to do it until now. I love this technique. Thank you for uploading.

    Me and my Fiance are getting married soon and this is a LIFESAVER. So many different videos of just people saying braid it or just the ceremony itself so im happy to have found this!

    I love this. This is way better than some of the videos I found that are "just braid it" or showing how the ceremony takes place. I didn't want to buy a handfasting cord on Etsy because I wanted something more personal that was made with love but also was cheaper than 75$, now I can totally made something personal and beautiful. Blessed be!

    Thank you so much! I'm Vietnamese and my fiance is Irish and wanted the handfasting. I'm so lost and I've been researching like crazy and you make it look so easy!

    Thank you for this! My fiancé and I are doing a handfasting for our wedding this October. Recently I really have been getting into my Celtic-Druid roots and been centering my craft towards Celtic paganism mixed with Christianity. My fiancé has been practicing Norse paganism mixed with Christianity. We’re finally getting married after 8 years this October. I really wanted to make our cords to put my intention, love, and energy into it. I had our parents, his grandmothers, and my parents for my grandmothers whom passed pick out a color ribbon to make it more personal.
    I can’t wait to make them!

    Thank you so much, my boyfriend and I want a Celtic-Pagan wedding, cause we both are from different heritage, he is from vampiric heritage and I´m from elven heritage (or at least in Spain it´s called in that way) and I want to do de Handfasting Cords by myself to give them more significative magic that I -both- want to be our marriage. I love your Channel, thank u. The spirits might guide you in this life. Gracias amor.

    My friend wanted me to make her a handfasting cord for her wedding. Saw this and tried it out in the colors that she wanted (she needs 9ft per her coven), and it's gorgeous!!! Thank you for showing this!

    Thank you so much for this video. We are a gay couple and neither of us knows anything about handy work.
    Still my fiance is Irish and I wanted to incorporate it into our ceremony. He keeps complaining about my left-brain lack of creativity but this video and the one you've linked to makes this a project I'll be able to handle and which will certainly impress him.
    It's a pity your video hasn't received more likes because you deserve it. Thank you again.

    Thanks for this! I saw so many like this online and wanted to make my own, but could never figure out how to make it look like that. I made one that was braided, but ended up being dissatisfied with it because it was too short, so I'm gonna try this method instead.

    I really enjoyed your tutorial. I LOVED the part in the beginning (around 6:00) when you were talking about the 2 hours you spent doing this you meditated on your relationship. It made me smile.

    Hi Serena! Thank you for the video! My fiancee and i are doing a handfasting and when we saw the price if cords decided to make ours so thanks for this and the tassel video. But i wanted to ask about the colored rug in the video, did you make it? If so can you share a video how you did it? Thanks, Erin

  • @charityc8819
    @charityc8819 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Serena, your code is so beautiful. I'm performing a ceremony for my cousin and we are going to do a hand fasting. I'm going to try my hand at making this cord for them. Question, did it tie well? I was a little worried the pieces might bunch up and look odd once tied?

    • @nowitssovivid1273
      @nowitssovivid1273  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Great question. Yes, it tied very well. Because it's flat, the cord wrapped nicely around our wrists. We did a figure-eight wrap with one knot to seal the deal, so not quite what I thought when I made this video, but was successful nonetheless. I hope this works well for you!

  • @Nina37B

    What length or ribbon did you use for each strand to get the full 5ish feet? I fear I’ve not bought long enough and I don’t know how to add more.

  • @theDeadliestPants

    I am attempting to recreate this for my wedding, though I'm a little short on time. How much ribbon would you say you used for each strand? I bought 100 yards of one color and want to use it for two of the strands and I want to know if I can safely pull off, say...20 yards and have that be enough?

    Are you going to be using the cord to do the infinity knot? If so, could you let me know how well it ties? I'm experimenting to see which one will look the best after being tied.

    • @nowitssovivid1273
      @nowitssovivid1273  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any of the vids/pages I used to find this technique referred to it as a ribbon lei.

  • @PrettyAliceNight

    Your cord is beautiful! Are the widths of the ribbons important or does it matter that much? Also when you say craft thread are you talking about embroidery floss?

    • @nowitssovivid1273
      @nowitssovivid1273  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the width matters, but I would recommend using equal sizes on both sides. "Craft thread" is what the package said... it was a little bit heftier than embroidery floss. But if that is what you have, use that! It would look just as good.

    • @PrettyAliceNight
      @PrettyAliceNight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now It's So Vivid Okay cool, thanks so much!

    • @PrettyAliceNight
      @PrettyAliceNight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also do you know if this technique has
      a specific name. I'm not having a hand fasting, marriage or anything anytime soon so I would like to be able to write it down in my journal so I can possibly research it a little bit later.

    • @nowitssovivid1273
      @nowitssovivid1273  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The terms I've seen include the "military braid" and "ribbon lei". I know there's more than one way to make a lei from ribbon though, so this is just one technique.

    • @PrettyAliceNight
      @PrettyAliceNight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now It's So Vivid ok thanks so much! Where did you learn how to do this?
