Hey Geoffrey, I just wanted to thank you for messing up my life with your videos! 😉
You got me buying a Series, looking at old sockets sets, my Norwegian used stuff site has a notification on anything with "Myford" in it. 👌
But seriously, I love your videos and I have already watched them too many times, I can't recommend them enough! 👍
Your Nerdy humor is just spot on for my liking. 🤓

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

Thank you and I hope it will be a pleasure. But that's one of the things I like, simple construction but having a modern enough engine that the inlet and outlets are in the top.
And character for miles, with or without the top on, it looks the part.

Strangely, I had been thinking of buying a series model too. However, prices here are astronomical. When the D3 came on sale I snapped it up as it was only 90 minutes drive away.
Yours looks good for its age. Back in 1971 I bought a 6 cylinder petrol LWB landy and after that, in 1975, a 1971 Range Rover. About 1980, I bought a 1950 series 1, but sadly had to let it go when I moved address. That would be priceless today as it was 80% restored. It was acquired by the local Land Rover dealer so in good hands. I’m looking forward to the restoration and do hope the family gets involved. Cheers. 👍🏻🙏🦘

@@grahameroberts8109 Should have kept them all for sure. Would be a nice set and worth as much as a house if they were in good condition.
I got mine at a super nice price as Erik knows the seller really well, his fathers friend. It's like the older generation handed it down to us younger ones. And that in good faith as they want to see the car back on the road.

Thank you Sam! When it came down to it, the car was too good to let it slip. Erik and I just agreed on that one of us should buy it, and he has more Land Rovers so I had to do it. 😂
And the price was cheap, a steal if we didn't know the guy, but the car is now staying in the local LR-family here in Norway and not sold out of the country, so a win for both parties.

When I have an overview and bought the most critical parts, Erik the LR mechanic will join me for a weekend of getting it started. 😊
I have high hopes for this and come spring and we will know if I need a new engine or not. 😅

To think that when I was born, this vehicle would have been 11 years old, which is probably not classed as "young" but for sure not "old" either, especially for a Land Rover, and in fact this would have been a typical sight on the roads at that time here in the UK. Not even seen as an old vehicle, just a regular one. That is shocking to me 😆

Time flies, and I often think that I am born too late. The videos and photos I've seen from where and how these cars was used in Norway, just tels me how much I have missed out on.
They were used a lot for infrastructure development, like building roads, dams for hydro power station and my favourite, building power lines in the mountains, lik this one has done.
The good thing about this age is that it's old enough to be simple to work on and new enough to have a "modern" petrol engine with inlet and outlet in the top, no on the side of the cylinders. 👌
Thanks for sharing Brian, age is relative. I feel my head is still stuck at 25... 😂
      Best, Simon

@@mrcvry That is my first choice, I’m a sucker for patine on old classics, I feel it helps tell the story of the car.
This one is original grey, then it was painter yellow before the end blue color was painted.
It will stay like this for the time being, I will prioritize all the mechanical stuff first.
Engine being a big maybe.. 😅

Mine was used as a support truck for power line constructors in the mountains. 😊
It Would have been so cool to see it in action back in those days. That time it was yellow, the company’s color. 😊

      @
It has lots of codes but there’s plenty of help on TH-cam as you know, including yours. My 2004 Disco is solid as a rock and my tourer so I might get the D3 road registered and see what it could make on the market. The D3 is HSE spec but needs some care and maintenance. The previous owner was not the right person to own it. 👍🏻🙏🦘

@@grahameroberts8109 A proper project then, previous owner has a lot to say, especially if they have owned it for a while.
Scan and clear codes, restart and see, proper service, then go deeper into the problems.
I'm happy to share what I know and discuss the lovable car that is D3. 😊
