    Very interesting video! Really like the blade shape on that fan. Thanks for an informative tutorial- I can use this method to balance a few of my fans

      Thanks. It's a frustrating and tedious process, but it yields a nice result.

    Your videos are always helpful at learning more about fans and electronics like this. I’ve been able to balance my Lakewood HV-18 perfectly with your methods. Keep up the good work!

      Completely concur, there is a severe lack of content in the area of more intricate repairs like this. I believe this is the only channel that shows how to balance a blade that isn't aluminum on a consumer grade portable fan; and does so in such a way that it can be easily replicated, using fairly common (or at least easily obtainable) tools, by the average home user who is not mechanically inclined. I really hope someday we'll get a video on rewinding a motor.

    I just wanted to say thank you for this video! This was the first video I could find of someone taking apart a video that looked like my Lasko 16" reversible fan, I thought I was going to break something/was doing something wrong pulling the blades off! But I just needed even more force. The balancing tips are also really helpful. ... and since I have a couple of these I aught to invest in some pullers so I don't almost bust my nose next time :).

    How appropriate that a video about balancing blades would come out so soon after our discussion. Of course it's much easier to do when you're working with ball bearings -_-
    Next time put a piece of masking tape on each blade and label them 1/one, 2/two, and 3/three, and that way you won't lose the one you want after a test or taking the blade off or whatever.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The labeling is a good idea, I think I'll do that.

    What is the tool you used to remove the fan blades called, and where can I get one?

  • @drakesessions3544

    The center of the blade kind of reminds me of the center of those Dayton ceiling fans you see at Home Depot and Toys R us

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For how much these cost they should be perfect right out of the box! I don't understand why Air King can't get their act together with the blade balance.

    • @LemontHill
      @LemontHill 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JordanU i know i hear you bro Air King and Lasko are the same way both companies are chinese garbage hopefully one of these days they will get their act together but not until we get usa made back which seems like it's never going to happen

  • @nataliegrn17
    @nataliegrn17 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nicely done improvement on balance. Can you add a lower speed? Seems like a better quality fan than most these days, unfortunately.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may be able to add a capacitor to lower the speed, you'd have to observe the motor temperature and power draw to be sure it's content running like that. Sometimes they are, others not.
      I agree, it does seem like one of the better quality units available. A lot of fans made today fail due to lack of lubrication in the bearings, this unit having ball bearings should be immune to that. I suspect this will run for a long time.

    What size gear puller is that 8”? The switches on these new models are pretty bad. The older w16900 model is so much better.

      You could, but then the glue may eventually come off.

    Air kings quality is so questionable, they started sloppily making their wall fans since 2014
