I first started watching coffee house chess and I used to think these guys were amazing, Boston mike and great carlini, they are still great chess players but watching Hikaru play is just masterful and every move is calculated with such swift elegance

For those still a bit new, the queen sac referred to the position Calini resigned in - the bishop was pinned by white's bishop, black can take the queen with the knight but then rook takes knight is mate.

It’s not particularly complex. Black bishop is pinned by white bishop, so only knight can take, then rook takes knight is mate.

Chess is just math you just count +1-1 for every piece taken, so if you guard all your pieces (-1+1 = 0) it will end on a draw, if you get a free piece by fork or force moves (+1-1+1=1) you win, proved it to draw against computer rating 3200 by just simply guarding all the pieces

Seems Carlini just tried to match Hikaru's speed, when he had 5 minutes to take a little time and think moves over. He was playing as if he were under bullet time. Yes, he was going to lose anyway, but you could see he really wasn't studying the board at all. That's not gonna fly against Hikaru.
