Just picked up the V2 wallet in red, no loop, and no leather wrap. No issues with it whatsoever and my cards don't fall out no matter how hard I shake the wallet. It feels, functions, and looks fantastic! Thanks for the follow-up review.
I’m sold! My dad has terrible arthritis in his thumbs and I can tell it’s really painful for him to try and dig his cards out of his current wallet. That squeeze mechanism is going to save him so much frustration. Can’t wait to give this as his Christmas gift!
I just received the version 2. I agree that the build quality is exceptional. My 6 cards don't retract into the base, even if I squeeze the mechanism slowly. This isn't a problem for me, as I just slap them back into place. As I live in Switzerland, I put Swiss francs on one side of the leather pouch & Euros on the other. I put my pocket change in a small leather pouch. I went from a very fat wallet to 2 small, thin items - this is a big win for me, I'm very happy with it.
I have a V2. By the time you add the leather case and more cards, and a couple of bills you're back to wallet size again. I made a thin envelope out of card stock for my cash, and paper insurance card, that slides in like a card, taking the place of a couple of cards. Then I have my DL, and 2 cc cards. Minimalist, thin for the win...
Great 👍 review, I’m watching this review after I ordered my v2 with leather but before I’ve received it. I’m now very confident that I made the right purchase. Thanks to you… I’m looking forward to the delivery in two or three days. FYI my wallet purchase was $41.40 USD w/ $8.88 express USPS shipping. Ordered on Tuesday, shipped out the next morning on Wednesday and the tracker said due for delivery on Saturday. Very impressed with Grip6 so far.
Lucky enough to get a Grip6 v2 for my birthday from my wife. It is an amazing piece of kit. Very well built and just looks so cool! In reality, it only takes 5 embossed cards in the main slot, but the action is smooth and the cards are secure. I use the leather case to carry cash on one side and driving licence on the other. I can't see myself going back to a conventional wallet. Only available in the UK through the Grip6 US website, but it was shipped and arrived in good time. Great review and comparison video. Fantastic to see a company striving to improve its products based on user feedback.
Another awesome video. Cool wallet, nice that the company actually listened to customer feedback to improve upon their initial release. Thanks the review!

Update: I love the Grip6 wallet. I am mesmerized by not only the action of it but also the design, the look, and even the slick leather add-on which I went for. It sounds weird, but I look forward to every opportunity to use the wallet! And, I went for the no loop version. If you are looking for as small as possible I recommend skipping the loop... And the belts are great too.
I purchased the Grip6 wallet version 2 with leather and loop for $69.00 on the Grip6 website. Ordered the Blue Steel and Brown Leather. I think it's one of the BEST, if not the best wallet I've ever purchased. :)
Just picked up a Grip6. Seems very cool. Compact and great build quality. I have wingman with it, which seemed a bit narrow at first but if I fold my bills twice, they fit easily enough into the wingman.
Just got one yesterday and already love it. Blue with loop, no leather. They're discounting their factory seconds right now. A tiny scratch was the only blemish. My keys would have done that in a day. Didn't get the leather because it made it just as thick as a regular wallet. The loop makes it easy to pull out of my pocket. With my index in the loop there's no way I can fumble it, and my other 4 fingers are perfectly positioned to squeeze it.
I have the V2, it works fantastic! The lever is not required to remove or insert cards, but it is fun as hell to play with. Don’t recommend to carry the leather version around water or if you will be sweating profusely. I was afraid the plain, non-leather option might easily slip out of my pocket. Overall, a great wallet!
was always a fan of box wallets.. still think companies like Ekster and Tru Virtue are close to perfecting it.. just got mine today with the black and white american flag. One of my cards is slightly thicker than the rest so it makes it a snug fit for the rest. My old wallet was getting way to fat so this will be an nice change. I may have to get the leather pouch for my DL.
I just got mine today. First impression: quality is great. Coming from a ridge to the grip6, I already like it better just from the leather sleeve to carry cash. I recommend anyone get one, if there are a minimalist.
I still wish that finger loop was a lot smaller. I love using a chain with my wallets( for losing my wallets when I don’t reasons) but I’m not pulling something that looks like a trigger attached to something metal out of my pocket.
There's a more than enough of polymer material at the base of the finger loop. You can saw or grind most of the loop off, then drill 2-3 mm hole through the polymer and attach your own keyring. Few minutes job.
This review was very helpful. Thank you! I am considering trying again with a minimalist wallet. Unfortunately, the last wallet I bought (Fantom) was plastic and made too much noise when I walked around. It doesn’t seem like I will have that problem with Grip6.
I'm getting one, at 65 I'm fed up with figuring out which pocket of my wallet what card is in, my D. Licence can go in the leather pouch & when I hit the tab or fan them out at the end opening being able to see the ends of ALL the cards at once is a BIG aid for this old guy getting loopie LOL
Great review! And based on your info, they should make a version without the lever and finger loop. I would love to see that version since you can just fan through without pressing the lever. And I think people would love the option of having 2 models to pick from.
Kinda need the lever to release the cards from lock... and trying to get a full deck of cards out of a slot with out it would be difficult. So it needs the lever.
People who have this wallet help me out, 1. Do you find that if you have too few cards in this wallet that everything seems to shake around or feel loose? or does it conform to a thinner stack of cards? 2. Are embossed cards (the ridged numbers on CCs) hard to put back into place? and do they do a lot of wear and tear on the numbers?
This video is the one that brought me to your channel. I love the wallet. I've always having problems with cards cracking in my wallet. So the metal box is a good solution. Just need a bit more room for stuff. Wish the box held 8 cards. I have a cheap knockoff and it works okay, but you just need that little bit more room.
I was part of this kickstarter and bought one of the "defective" v.1. for $10 back when they were offing them just for giggles. I gave my V.2 kickstarter away as a gift when I got it later. Here we are 4+ years later and I'm still using my $10 V.1 daily! I'm not sure why, but mine worked just fine from day 1. I put 2 embossed cards(face to face so the numbers are not rubbing each other) and 4 non embossed in mine and it gives it the perfect action. I learned to only press the lever with the force of my pinky when depressing. I must have got lucky, but when I turn mine upside down and shake it, the cards stay... What can I say, I got a unicorn I guess? The newest version costs $59 (+ $14 if you want a "wingman" money band).
I got in on the Kickstarter version. I don’t even know where I put the first version because they did send it. But I LOVE the version 2. I am a woman and don’t carry a purse. I was worried the loop would make it too bulky but it’s not and comes in handy. I am obese so my pockets are bigger which may make a difference. I keep my vaccine card on one side of the sleeve and cash on the other. I feel bad that so many knock offs out there. But I’d buy this over again. I’ve done a few Kickstarter’s and this company had the best updates and most transparency I’ve seen. I have never had mine shoot out but maybe because I’ve got them in tight. And I don’t mind pushing the cards back. I thought that was normal.
I own a Ridge and it's such a pain for carrying cash. Even searching through your cards is a hassle. I used to own a lever wallet, and I really miss the lever, as you don't have to pick at the cards to try and find the one you want. I disagree with Crispy when he says he won't use the lever. The cutout just makes it easier to get a good grip on the outer cards once they are ejected.
Honestly I was sold until you got to the end and started talking about just pulling the cards out yourself and rifling through them. At that point I realized that the xsto wallet (designed to be that) is the choice for me. Aluminum, slimmer, smaller, engrave option, multiple widths for different numbers of cards and most importantly, also made in the USA. Grip6 seems better if you like the leather and the fun mechanism. I’ll miss not having that loop as well, personally.
I love my ridge , after owning it 4 years an carrying it everyday it has a ton of battle scars . ( strap is still tight as day one.) figured I’d change it up an picked up a xsto. Should be here tomorrow 🤘🏼
@@mikerzisu9508 no , I was going to order both . But once I received the xsto, I loved it so much I didn’t feel the need to try the grip. Let me know how you like it when it arrives
@@lelandphill4408 yep will do. The ridge is pretty nice, good build quality but getting the cards out of it is such a chore imo. My one concern is the grip 6 will be quite a bit bigger than the ridge
Got my v2. So far I was using leather sleeve w. pull tab, 11 mm with 7 cards. The v2 with leather jacket is 15mm. So far I'm very pleased with v2 mechanism. I can shoot the cards out deliberately but there is no way it can happen accidentally. My grip is not weak (regular tennis, hard enduro riding) but the spring mechanism is still strong enough to prevent spilling cards by accident.
Mines finally came in today and I must say... I love it. My only gripe is that I wish that the leather holster had actually an actual ' pocket ' ID slot. Yea... One slot will hold my ID, the other holds my work badge but that's just me being extra for being a newly converted minimalist 😂😂😂
Gotta have some respect for them owning up to the issues of their product and doing their best to fix them, sadly a lot of companies wouldn’t do the same these days. It’s a shame that there are still some underlying issues though 🤷🏻♂️.
The fact that I’m replacing my Ridge wallet with a grip6 shows how awesome this wallet is. The “issues” you bring up for v2 are only issues if you’re a complete ape. It’s like complaining about coke bottles that spray everywhere if you squeeze too hard. Lol.
*makes ape noises. They’re issues regardless of your weak attempt at an insult. Did I not compliment this company for fixing these issues? And why did they make a version 2 if these “issues” weren’t a problem? I’ll wait…
How do these do with the plastic numbers on the cards that stick out? I've heard other wallets such as the ridge grind those away. Does anyone have any experience with this and the grip 6 v2?
I’d love to see a comparison between the Grip6 and the Secrid Cardprotector. Can’t seem to find any side-by-side photos. Seems like the Grip6 is maybe .5” wider, but that may just be because the lever is on the side.
1 less card if you’re going embossed. Cards come in all different sizes so nothing is absolute. Raised number cards need to be phased out. All of my credit or debit cards are flat at this point. Embossed cards are unnecessary
@@ChrispyThings Thanks for answering my question and I agree the embossed cards are a pain. But both of my Chase debit cards and my Cigna HSA Mastercard are all embossed. I was curious about this wallet, but I’ll stick with a traditional wallet. Besides, I carry more than 6 cards + cash + postage stamps + a spare Band-Aid + gym membership card + Metrocard (NYC resident) + driver’s license, etc.
Why have the button on the side you ask....because without it, this wallet is just like every other aluminum wallet on the market! So glad to hear they fixed those issues! Do you carry this wallet for your own personal use?
Idk what everyone is on about with launching cards, never had that problem with normal use. Most of the time you'll be using your pinky and ring finger to push the trigger which defs won't send the cards flying. Also keep in mind that the cards used in this video are all smooth, realistically your cards will have embossing on them which makes them more grippy which stops the whole launching deal. Probably the reason why I don't have that problem too.
Anytime you have embossed cards rubbing on other cards, they’ll most likely scratch. That’s why I’m for the discontinuation of embossed cards completely. All of my cards are flat now, including my debit cards. Much better.
@@ChrispyThings I am there with you on that. Noticed my new cards coming out flat. Still have a couple to swap out. Thank you very much for the quick response.
I wouldn't manually pull the cards out like that over and over. I would be concerned about eventual wear on the edges of the cards reintroducing the retaining issue on V1. I would love one of these but they seemed too pricey when I looked them up. Considering the type of knife I could buy for the money for example. A little too expensive for what it is.
IMHO Trayvax wallets (I have the Element and Contour) are best for securing cards. Fantom wallets fan card mechanism is best for card access. I had a grip6 for a month and got rid of it due to cards falling out.
I think being their first wallet they were in way over their head with this design. After all of the problems of version 1 they must’ve took a huge hit having to replace every single version 1 wallet for free.
Any chance the trigger can get depressed while in pants pocket? I'd be worried that standing, sitting, moving, etc would somehow create some sort of squeezing from the sides.
That is an interesting concept, but it doesn't come close to the STOW wallet for EDC compactness and functionality. STOW is still #1, and I've tried a bunch. Good video though! I like your delivery! Thanks!
I want to know how it feels in your pocket. I like the ring, it looks cool! My concern is is it too bulky in your pocket, AND would it make it an easy target for a pickpocket?

Will the cards drop out if fewer than 6 are kept in it?
The cards only shoot out when you are holding the wallet horizontally...not sure if most will use it that way.
That’s not true at all. They shoot out no matter which way you hold out.
What have you that idea?
how about an update with their new sleeve?
Absolutely. Once I receive it I’ll record an update
@@ChrispyThings Thanks bro...but just saw your xsto review...think I'll be getting that one!!! Take good care.
the slapping cards made me get it lol
Thank you for your review. Looking forward to getting a few. $69 for both wallet and leather.
Great review buddy.
Thanks!
I’d love to see a comparison between the Grip6 and the Secrid Cardprotector. Can’t seem to find any side-by-side photos.
Seems like the Grip6 is maybe .5” wider, but that may just be because the lever is on the side.
I just got one of these, i am just glad this is not made in China !!
Yeah fk china
All your test cards are smooth. What about credit/debit cards with raised numbers?
I just got my wallet today. I can’t get the lever to work with six cards in it. Really annoyed about it!
If it didn’t have the lever, it wouldn’t be a Grip6 wallet! I love the lever
Thanks u just saved me money.
Why have the button on the side you ask....because without it, this wallet is just like every other aluminum wallet on the market! So glad to hear they fixed those issues! Do you carry this wallet for your own personal use?
I don’t. I carry the Trayvax Contour. But working out of town I switched to the new Akeeni XSTO. That video is coming soon.
If extra cards are kept in the leather jacket, will they be RFID protected?
The jacket isn’t rfid protected
@@ChrispyThings thanks
looks to me that the lever is meant to be pressed with only 3 or last two fingers. which naturally will be less strength than all four fingers
Simplicity is the best 🇬🇧👍
wish it had a money clip or a money belt.

💯% agree, 🙅♂️NO LEVER NEEDED
Idk what everyone is on about with launching cards, never had that problem with normal use. Most of the time you'll be using your pinky and ring finger to push the trigger which defs won't send the cards flying.
Also keep in mind that the cards used in this video are all smooth, realistically your cards will have embossing on them which makes them more grippy which stops the whole launching deal. Probably the reason why I don't have that problem too.
The leather is for cash or love notes.
Nice review.
Do the cards shoot out if you hold the wallet face up?
If you squeeze hard enough yes
@@ChrispyThings Thanks, got a wallet on the way and was curious.
You need to try groove life belts
Do you or anyone have issues with cards that have raised print rubbing and damaging other cards?
Anytime you have embossed cards rubbing on other cards, they’ll most likely scratch.
That’s why I’m for the discontinuation of embossed cards completely. All of my cards are flat now, including my debit cards. Much better.
@@ChrispyThings I am there with you on that. Noticed my new cards coming out flat. Still have a couple to swap out.
Thank you very much for the quick response.
What about cards with embossed numbers?
Get rid of them.
Banks aren’t even issuing embossed cards anymore.
Not sold on that finger loop!
That seems to be the popular opinion. I don’t really like it myself really.
It comes without the loop.
@@antmatsmaz what’s the loop for? Does it do anything?
Is there a lock out for the lever release? I could see it getting bumped really easy and the cards getting pushed out.
No lock out for the lever.
The lever takes a considerable amount of energy to press so I dont think that will be an issue.
Thanks for the informative review!
Thanks!
Hmm no buy from me, too expensive and has issues, what happens if you pull the lever in your pocket by accident?
Love this video
IMHO Trayvax wallets (I have the Element and Contour) are best for securing cards. Fantom wallets fan card mechanism is best for card access. I had a grip6 for a month and got rid of it due to cards falling out.
Makes me wonder how much time and money they invest in quality control?
I think being their first wallet they were in way over their head with this design. After all of the problems of version 1 they must’ve took a huge hit having to replace every single version 1 wallet for free.
Any chance the trigger can get depressed while in pants pocket? I'd be worried that standing, sitting, moving, etc would somehow create some sort of squeezing from the sides.
Always possible but unlikely
Is the ring part cumbersome? I feel like it’d be better without but I don’t own a minimalist wallet.
Not too much. But I’d still get it without the ring
How does it work with regular credit cards? raised letters and numbers?
Works fine with flat or raised number.
I'm getting one! Awesome
I feel like even with the card cut out I would still utilize the lever more than anything
maybe you said this in versoiin 1 video, but what abot the loop? Do you like it?
I mentioned it in the first video. But no I’m not a fan unless you like fidgeting. I found myself wanting to twirl it like a gun. Lol
That is an interesting concept, but it doesn't come close to the STOW wallet for EDC compactness and functionality. STOW is still #1, and I've tried a bunch. Good video though! I like your delivery! Thanks!
Stow is one of the best out there.
I like it! Thank you
I want to know how it feels in your pocket. I like the ring, it looks cool! My concern is is it too bulky in your pocket, AND would it make it an easy target for a pickpocket?
It feels fine in the pocket. And it’s a front pocket carry so shouldn’t be an issue with pickpockets
@@ChrispyThings Well, I went ahead and bought the wallet with leather sleeve and no ring. I feel it will be more comfortable without the ring. Thanks for helping me make a decision!
What watch are you wearing?
Dango Chrono 👍🏻
@@ChrispyThingsvery cool design! This is so unique
good to know!
