Thank you. I have just purchased a Z6 having been a Mirror DSL person for a long while and I just needed a group of settings to get me started as I have a trip planned next week to do some landscape photography in the Yorkshire Dales. This has been exactly what I need to get me started so thank you. Clear, precise and to the point. Great! Thanks John
Hey Ricci, thanks for the info. I've been looking for just this type of video as I just bought the camera this week. Would love to go farther in depth and really stimulate my inner nerd. Many thanks and please do more!
THE BEST educational presentation of the Nikon Z7. As a Nikon user, I gained much from your video than from others that glossed over its features in favor of camera comparisons to push other brands, rather than help me protect my investment and improve my photography. Thanks for this one and I just subscribed. I look forward to your more sensible videos that can help improve the craft.
Thanks, Rick, this is really great and very helpful. What settings do you use when you are shooting flying birds? Can the track focusing work for flying birds? Any suggestions would be great. My z 7 just came and I hope to test it out this weekend with my 200-500 mm lens.
Hi Ricci, thanks for taking the time to make these videos and keep up the good work, I wonder whether you can shed any light on my problem ... I got a Z7ii this week and when shooting (photos) in auto mode and you set what type of focus you want, when i turn the camera off and back on again the focus mode resets itself back to Auto-area AF (people)...I also have a Z6 and that will stay on whatever focus mode it was left on .... Thanks in advance Tony
I found the video to be informative and useful as a begging to understand my Z 7 . I would find more details and in depth discussion of why you select setting and what they do would be even more helpful. Thanks for providing the video.
Thanks Ricci very helpful. I've seen a free videos that have commented that the AF in the Z7 struggles in low light. This is disappointing as my work is events often in low light.
Mark Shirley iv been more than happy with its low light af performance granted I don’t do much low light work but there have situations where it has focused and my d850 hasn’t one thing I do to help is zoom in the back screen to make sure the af point is exactly where I want it to be
@@RicciTalks Hi thanks Ricci - this is the link where @Photo-Me-Ike discusses it 1:14:37 at s wedding reception. th-cam.com/video/-rn04Zsc4_4/w-d-xo.html
Mark Shirley I have been shooting with my Z7 on both the S35f1.8 and S24-70f4. The low light performance of these two lenses on the Z7 has been very good and as good as if not better than my D750 on older Nikkor lenses. Forget those videos. I shot these images last week in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Auto focussing was super fast with these lenses at night.
hank you for the video. It is really helpful. I have a question please, I noticed in my setting when I was following your video that my "Auto distortion control is disabled (gray) but is (not disabled) in your camera setting. Do you know why? I am using the original 24-70mm Z NIKKOR lens. Thank in advance for you help :)
It seems to me that the Nikon cameras are missing the custom feature of Canon. For instance on Canon you can quickly switch to a custom 1,2, or 3. I have set one of these custom settings set to allow me to rapidly move to shoot nature photography. So I might be shooting landscape most of the time, but if an animal comes into the frame I’m able to rapidly move my settings to cope with this. Can the Nikon do this?
Thanks for all the good tips in this video. Question for you: in AFC mode, I haven't found a way for the camera to give focus confirmation either via a color change of the focusing square, a beep or the appearance of the small confirmation dot at the bottom of the screen. It's possible in the higher end DSLRs.
This seems like a firmware bug to me, as the manual says that when it is in focus it should turn green. Ken Rockwell says something similar on his site where he compares the Z7 / EOS R / Sony FF cameras. He said it was "Red for OK" and "Yellow for out of focus". That sucks !
Dear Ricci.... Great reviews! I was wondering if you could ask Nikon to enable a "Sensor protect Mode" Like Canon's where when a lens is removed the shutter closes over the sensor to protect from dust.

Fantastic! Thanks. Please do this again for the Z6 if you get to extensively evaluate when it starts shipping.
Willie Edwards definitely doing all the videos again for the z6

First time I use Nikon and I like your video
Great video, very helpful in explaining the different options and recommended choices.
Thanks
Great Video! I'm setting up my D6 as I watch. And I now understand spot metering. Thank you.
You bought a D6, but don't know about metering???

Thank you for this Excelent video for Z7 owners, please a new one soon.

Ricci, I really needed a video like this as a new Nikon user, thank you. Question, why should LOW LIGHT AF be off all the time unless you need it?
Thanks mate ... awesome ...

@@cheecolin260 that's what I want to hear - just need touch screen AF in video and a bit of IBIS action to help me. 😎👌
Great tips. Keep them videos coming.
Good presentation. Waiting for my Z7 to arrive. I'll be back.......
thanks for the video, can you use focus peaking while you use the autofocus ?
Thanks for a clear understanding I needed as a 51 old begainer. So hard 2 find help.
Joe Hart glad you found it useful there will be more videos of this type soonish so keep an eye out
Awesome review. Thanks!!!
Great video! Thank you
Please could you tell me which image size in j-peg I should use. I seek high resolution images. Thank you.

Hi Ricci,
Can Z6/Z7 show "blinkies" in real time (not in playback)? Thanks

How do I eliminate the Virtual Horizon Display in my Viewfinder on my Z7 camera ? please reply Ted
Brilliant, thanks so much
Is the AF-C tracking as bad as DPreview and other youtube people have reported? What about AF on poor lighting conditions?
Will this setting be good for Z6 as well?

They don't do that currently in AfC mode, only AF S.
Thanks !!

Great to see your settings; a bit fast, if you ask me
I regret to say that I fail to see the added value. It’s mostly a voice user manual instead of a written one.
Some of us do better with voice than with reading.
