It ties into what the guy said earlier in the episode when he came back to the toilet, that he and Rick were facing a similar problem. So the trap's message also applied to himself.

They had to know what code, and where to place it on the sign to get the car to misread the stop sign, of course. But the experiment proved that any shitty human with the right knowledge can do the same thing. It has made a lot of imdustry investors nervous recently. Anyways, the robots misread Rick as a robot officer because of the QR code bug. Cheers!
