    Just curious, are engineers also taking to account the environmental effects of housing projects like this on these mountains? Don't get me wrong, I love your content but I'm just curious if there are procedures in place when excavating these mountains where plenty of trees/plants are growing. Do they have plans to plant the equivalent amount to the ones they removed or do they just go on excavating mountainsides because it's private property?

      In reality of construction, the contractor needs to get a permit from gov't agencies concerned before starting the construction itself.

      Yes, environmental permits and approvals are needed as well as a lot of environmental compliance. I explained this in a previous video 👌🏼

      Hi, I enjoy watching your videos, they are both educational and entertaining because you convey concepts in a very simple manner. Just wondering if it's really worth it to build these kinds of homes on mountain tops. Is there a high demand for it po? In terms of real estate, this is a great project because of the view. If I had the money, I would buy one too, guaranteed that it doesn’t cause any major changes in the environment hehehehe baka naman jk. However, as a graduating engineering student, I always keep in mind that the projects should not have a significant impact on the environment, such as changing the landscape of the mountains. With the world slowly dying, it is really worth the risk despite having the permits approved by the government?

    Engr. Slater, don’t forget about the Electronics Engineers. Most buildings don’t consider them but they will ensure all your needs as to the electronics field is well integrated on your buildings. These include but not limited to structured cabling systems, telco repeater systems, professional audio systems on your multi function halls, Video Teleconferencing solutions, Building communications systems (radio,wifi,cellular), computer systems for office quarters onsite, cctv surveillance systems, access control systems and a lot more. Most buildings do not integrate these systems during the build phase and get added upon as the requested but hopefully in the future our field-being an Electronics Engineer myself- will be included during the construction phase of all buildings. Anyways, what a nice video Engr. Slater and spot on with hiring professionals for all the different aspects of building a house.

    As a Mechanical Contractor and Home Remodeler / Rehabber in USA it is interesting to see it from a Filipino perspective and how important a role the Architect plays here i coordinating the Engineers and even utilizing a Project management team to coordinate as I know there are many complications and headaches you can run into building in the Philippines. Supplies and keeping the flow along with reliable stores and suppliers is one of the hardest and while it may be easier in say Cebu verses a smaller city where things need to be ordered and brought in and at mercy of simple things like a ferry used to deliver and slowed by rough seas. Smart to do a multi-housing in one area as this cuts down time and cost while also making it easier for Individual differences.

    Thanks for this vlog Slater!👍👍 So that the clients will be more aware of the importance of every design & construction professionals.. I saw the structural foundations of your project and it reminds me this; I had a client who argued with me because of the expensive cost of the foundation which I already discussed with them long before the construction (the lot is a swampy lot that the geotechnical engineer recommend to have a foundation depth of 6mts).. Then when they encountered a financial problem they blame it to me because "BAKIT DAW NILA GAGASTOSAN NG MALAKI ANG ISANG BAGAY NA NASA ILALIM NAMAN NG LUPA".... Which they already know the condition of the project site and the purpose of the foundation.... Sa sobrang badtrip ko itinawa ko na lang sa harap nila... Everytime that I remember that project it hurts me a lot kasi hanggang ngayon nakatenggang ang project at kalawangin na yung mga bakal at ang pinakamasakit at nakakabit ang pangalan naming mga professionals doon sa project.. Kaya bilib ako sa mga client na open minded at honest... Kung kulang ang budget sana mgsabi lang ng totoo hindi yung nakikipagdebate pa.. 😆😆😆😆 Anyway... Thank you for you very informative vlogs and more power!

    ahh. Slater, your mention about the Architect's role in building construction is very commendable. That line is very unifying. As we know, here in Philippines, the Architect's role is very underrated and many do not really know what Architect's do. But with how you articulated it, I hope that many will understand that Architect's, Civil/Structural Engineers, Sanitary Engineers/RMP's, Electrical Engineers and so on... are actually a team. without their cooperation, collaboration and concerted effort, the building industry and their end product will never be as pleasing, functional and serving its purpose for a very long time. Thanks Engineer Slater.

    This was great information. I was recommended a builder and he has several examples of homes he built in the Philippines. I am aware of the short cuts some builders use and that everything is way much slower there, so I plan to rent for a year before construction starts. I am mostly worried about building near agricultural land instead of one designated as residential.

    The video is very educational and easy to understand, even non architects and non engineering students can easily cope with the instructions however truth to be told this kind of step by step procedure is only applicable to upper middle class and the rich. Kasi if we'll base it on our real income, di talaga afford ng lahat ng tao ito, and di pa kasali ang 10 percent ng fees ng mga engineers na na mention. Expensive po siya that's why a lot of people prefer to work directly with the masons or experienced construction workers kasi sa pakyawan or daily payment palang ng trabahante malaki na. We appreciate the effort and thoughts that you put in this video sir slater, pero right now di afford ng lahat ng kababayan natin ang procedures na ito. Yes, totoo na mas maganda kung may expert talaga na mag ga guide sayu however, fees palang maaubos na budget, goodbye material budget na, lalo na ngayun mas tumataas ang percentage ng inflation. I am not against the idea, clearly gusto ko siya kasi in the long run, ang titira ang makaka benefit, pro di talaga kaya lahat ng kababayan natin. God bless po sir slater!

    @ayrasantiago6241 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kudos for the educational video, really helpful for the filipino real estate and construction community. Just want to add, especially with the type of project you have at hand, a Licensed Landscape Architect is someone who must also be part of the team from the conceptual stage more importantly for collaboration not just on design but also planning and construction. Often times in the Philippines, there’s a common misconception that Landscape Architects are an after thought or seems like an aesthetic solution, but they are an integral part of the design of the planning of your home spaces to integrate with the natural environment. It’s an added value to providing a good home and investment for you and your family. 😊
