Wow Delos Tribe, what a hell of a ride it's been so far! I have a feeling that many of you are asking the same question, about whether or not Delos 2.0 will be a new Amel 55. Well, the honest truth is we just don't know.... Let me explain a little bit more. I believe that part of sailing around the world includes the continuity of the voyage. Maybe I am a bit sentimental in this regard but for some reason I feel like I want to sail Delos home. The only problem is I really don't know where home is, or when Delos and her crew might arrive there. One might say that I am already home after 8 years at sea but that's another conversation all on it's own.... In any case we have many more ocean miles and incredible places in front of us as we cross the Atlantic and we are forever grateful for being able to share this experience with you all. So for now we intend to continue sailing Delos, fixing broken things, and living our lives the best way we know how out here. We all believe the future holds many opportunities and is very bright. When the time feels right I think we will all know. Much peace and love to you all! Capt. Brian
Sailing SV Delos I just want to say thank you for all the beautiful videos to you guys make God bless. From Connecticut I'm saying hi and be safe guys thank you.
Respect to Brian for his response up top. We've followed Delos and crew from earliest days, even met Brady on the dock briefly the first time they were in Cape Town. He was exactly as you see him - warm, genuine, funny, and open, even when being accosted by random strangers. Their genuine passion for sailing, and the lifestyle, shines through even their unpolished early vlogs, and has never diminished. It's why we love them. It's great that so many have been inspired to buy a boat and set sail because of Delos, but far too many of the channels are all about a desperate bid for subscribers and patrons, with little substance to back them up, and an obvious lack of the passion for actual voyaging. We've been chasing this dream nearly 25 yrs now, because even a 4th-hand boat on the level of the Amel Super Marimu is out of our reach. But where there is determination and passion there is a way, and finally, finally we've got there. And soon we'll be off.
WOW, just an awesome video Delos crew. Hands down this is in the top 3 of all 180 episodes.Keep saving your $ by repairing Delos for the time being......................................the Amel 64 is in sight !
Terrific footage by Kiril and a cool adventure by all. I'll bet most subscribers share that "same but different" feel to see the Amel 55. Ya know, after 140 episodes, a few hundred thousand of us have spent what, the equivalent of three days aboard Delos? Many could walk around her blindfolded. So yeah, it's been a trip. Thanks and much love.
Excellent . Old world craftsmanship ,No short cuts, Hand made, to strict tolerances. I now see why you love the Amel-Delos. She's a strong boat for sure ! Some of the best craftsmen in the world...Tres bien !
Lovely episode.... What an amazing backstory to Amel! Started by a blind man in his 50's and then gave the company to his staff! This is a great brand!
I bet you all went back to Delos and looked at everything on her with a different view after seeing how it all went together in the factory. Fiberglass is such a fantastic medium to work with and build out of. Thanks for sharing the tour through the factory and the sail. Finally we get to meet Lizbef! Yay! I can't wait for next week!
Second watch: Killa Kiril excellent job, even with the bat in the cave, you precariously perched yourself in all the right spots to get the shots. Soundtrack at 7:22 perfect for setting the sexy city vibe. Planes and fast trains, castles and no hassles, Bay of Biscay...what a day! Thank you La Rochelle for hosting the Delos crew. Shout out to Stephanie, Antoine, Boris and the hard working Amel staff; thank you for inviting us into your world for a sneak peak and your kindness.
Hey Guys and Karen! For sure you have made the right decision to SAIL ON with Delos. What a beautiful boat and the way you have her rigged is awesome. As an old sailor, diver, photographer, surfer, now contractor in the forest. I’m very impressed. I’m all about home improvements and by wisdom you have the best core to work with, Delos. Yes it’s a lot of work but what isn’t right? Love to the Delos crew for all the great videos. Barry
I'm sure you dig into the YT analytics so you must be aware, but people do still watch your 2 year old (an much older) videos with more enjoyment than you can imagine. Amazing journey so far. Thank you.
There is nothing wrong with Brian and crew getting a new Yacht. You know you will still watch...maybe even more intently, I sure would. I'm sure they could afford to purchase one especially at a discount which should obviously be negotiated, after all, they must be pulling down close to half a mil/year with their current situation on TH-cam and Patreon. Why not spoil yourselves a little, you guys have earned it, In Brian's words. "The evolution of a number of years of learning" It could be the next chapter. Go for it Delos! Either way, You guys are the best sailing channel hands down, thanks for taking us along on the journey.
Sounds about right from what I read. Not much when you remeber there are three of them and bills to pay. Making high quality videos each week does not come cheap. We're getting a great deal, the viewers. :)
Jttv, SV Delos Patreon page shows that they are currently making $12,610 per episode and climbing. At that rate with one episode released per week they are making more than 650k/year just from Patreon. I am not complaining here, just trying to state the facts. The reality is that they are probably one of the most underpaid forms of entertainment considering all they do especially if you compared what they make with tv actors. Just saying.
Capt.Brian,Brady and Karin, the trip to France visiting the Amel Factory was a enormously experience your sailing adventures surly have added excitement and have set the future for sailors to come...Thank you for that ...Be sure to get a Huge discount on the new Amel 55 for you guys to set sail on...Thanks again...Cheers
It's not important whether you get sponsored with a new yacht but that you keep the spirit up to continue your voyage. I wouldn't trade the security. comfort and safety of my 33 yr old Hans Christian in a gale for the spacious ambience of a modern super yacht with its party-perfect interior. I enjoy watching you and your crew deal with the failures of equipment (as I have so many times) and overcome these hurdles to reach your goals. Good work Delos. sail safe and never stop. I love you guys.
Keep the old Delos. That baby got soul and love in her hull from all the places you've been and the people you've brought aboard to share in your adventure. That's something you can't replace. Love your videos guys (and lady). It was cool to see how Delos was made, and the crazy old French dude who started it all, haha that guy looks awesome.
what an honor that must have been to be invited by amel to show you round their facility's and to go sailing with them as well. id been a very happy camper.
I tell you, having some difficulties, I am very grateful for your videos. It sounds almost preposterous perhaps to some, but yes, you have made a positive difference in my daily life, with your honest, enjoyable, video memoirs. For you, I pray, always to have fair winds, a following sea, and above all, love. Thank-you Very Much Delos.
You have become a magnet for others to choose the Amel brand boat. You have proven the strength and comfort of the boat. Something that is very beneficial for the development of the boat.
Safety, beauty and quality combined. That's what likes me the most. That's how the Herreshoff's (one of them was blind too) and Olin Stephens did it before. I'm building myself a second S&S, but when I showed the Amel's to my daughters they said 'Ok Dad' New generation :-) Love it !!!
Great video from start to finish. The fact that the factory is watching and inspired by your decision 7 years ago to buy Delos is a real tribute to your incredible sense of adventure and inventiveness. I am still awed by your rewiring the boat to modernize the electronics to all talk to each other. Being in the computer business form the late 70's and using the first modems on an apple ii with a floppy disk and 16k of memory gives me an appreciation for your expertise in really understanding the fundamentals. Kudos to your adventures and great videos.
What a generous thing for the AMEL team to do - nothing short of brilliant. a privilege to see through their build process - certainly the AMEL brand has its band of loyal followers and you have added wonderfully to that. BRAVO. As an aside - taking champagne to the french - lol how funny is that.
I bet that was a first for the French, drinking champagne straight from the bottle, their probably still talking about that moment in there staff rooms, way to go Delos, just being true to who & what you really are about. Very down to earth, no pretentiousness & humble at the same time.. Do you sell champagne glasses with the Delos logo, because now I'd really like one or two, - I'm marketing a product idea for you! No one is doing that yet that I know about🇦🇺🇫🇷🇺🇸, happy sails, keep up the good work! 🥂 Cheers🌺🌺
@ Spiritedxx No. Having spent a wonderful 15 months in France, I can tell you that the French know how to live and enjoy life. The French (I am certain whether it be Champagne, wine, or Pepsi Cola) have "pulled" from the bottle on many an occasion. (Perhaps, maybe not the Pepsi.) Further, you should also learn the differences between "they're", "their", and "there".
They do not understand the most important rule of sales, which is to emulate your clients behaviour and empathise with them. Instead of doing that, they act a bit French... They forgot where they came from.
Ahoy Delos...one of my favourite video's of your entire journey! So fascinating to see where Delos came from and how she was made. And the footage filmed in La Rochelle from the 6:23 - 7:33 mark, is perhaps your best cinematography to date. Real professional level stuff! Luv you guys. You make my day a little bit brighter. Cheers guys.
Great Episode! Great production! During the factory tour I forgot I was watching a Delos episode. It looks a professional show that you might find on any given cable channel. Nice work. You guys have become really, really good at filming, voice overs, and editing.
Delos is family I would Sail her until the day I died after they bury me at sea Brady could take over and keep the dream alive never stop what you're doing you are an inspiration to so many Fairwinds following Seas and much love from a kayaker in Massachusetts USA
Very nice comment Brian. You almost waxed poetic. A great sailor and probably an awesome writer like Hemingway. The 55s were nice and all, but Karin stole the video again. The shot of her sleeping on the TGV was next to angelic. The Fates have dealt you all a marvelous hand and I'm sure now that you won't misplay it. At your age I was fighting for survival in the Mekong River Delta. Be grateful my friends, be very grateful.
I can't believe how far behind you guys are with your videos!! When I was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war when ever we returned to San Diego I'd watch the sail boats and dream of being on one in all the ports we visited and the more intimate experience it would be. Thanks for reawakening that dream. I for one would like to see Delos 2.0
Jason Cragg - maybe not in some countries but it's a big world and plenty of countries might let you in. If it really is your dream you should check it out and do some research. Good luck.
onthebeaches1 Apparently the destination country can do a full background check and deny entry if they don't like what they see. felonyguide.com/Can-I-obtain-a-passport-with-a-felony.php
Hello dears! watching this episode my face was just as smiling as yours during the tour of the factory and the sightseeing cruise. Sitting in front of the phone screen watching your adventures draws a lot of joy and positive energy thanks to what you do. Deep down, I envy you a lot and I dream of becoming a real sailor just like you without any experience, I want to leave everything I have and go on an adventure at the end of the dawn in the hope that someday I will be able to meet you. Good winds to you Brian, Karin little Sierra and of course to Brady greetings from Poland, Jan.
I can relate to you guys, that must have been a very special moment. I did a similar trip like yours but for my Harley Davidson FLH bike. I went to see the shed, the Power Plant and the Museum in Milwaukee and the Vehicle Operations plant in Pennsylvania. It felt so special, like I was going on pilgrimage and it made me bonding deeper with my bike. Love you all! Tanks for sharing those special moments with us. Merci infiniment Delos! From a French Canadian Delos addict ... 😉
Great episode. Fantastic to see how these boats are built. Must inspire confidence when you are on those rough ocean passages... Loved the look on that guys face when Brian swigged from the bottle! Karin is getting even prettier....Great to see Kiril back too...
Screw the 55, Delos. Talk 'em into a too-good-to-be-true deal on a 64! You know you want to... I mean, you'll need that extra room for the kids one of these days. And Brady's got "the cool uncle" written all over his face.
Wow! just has some major deja-vu (no pun intended). Back in 1980, as a 13 year old, I spent a month in France as an exchange student. After 4 days in Paris, my family took me to their summer place on Ile de Re, a beautiful island off the coast of La Rochelle. Seeing the harbour again, and being reminded of the big, hard, cold, green water of the Bay of Biscay reminded me of the two times they took me out sailing...and of the dozens of times I made offerings to Neptune on those trips! Thank you for the reminder!
I would love it if these guys got themselves a new sailboat out of this!! No strings attached, no change in format. Congrats to them and thanks for taking us all along during your journey!
Reportage très intéressant sur les chantiers Amel. Je prefere continuer à rêver en regardant Delos, le Amel55 est trop inaccessible It very funny to see Mr Brady discovering the "Croque Monsieur" in the TGV
Very, very cool. Really neat seeing the build process and hearing the history of Amel. I like the "Old English Pub" analogy of Delos. As sweet as the new 55 is, I bet there's no way the crew could part with their first home. Too many memories made there.
Guys, I think can’t compare Delos and La Vagabonde. Not same boats, not same sailors and not the same rum… Bot both same passion and great video channels ! Keep on the good job Delos and La Vag ! Bon vent à vous !
The factory tour just confirms all that you felt and witnessed during all of the sea miles. You knew it was strong but now you know why, and we all do too. Wonderful hosts to take the time to give you a tour of a spectacular factory. I agree you should continue with the original Delos. She has many miles left in her. Thanks for all of the wonderful videos you produce. Can't wait for the next one.
I'm still expecting a new digs for the Delos crew. I assume La Vag...'s new boat is on some kind of loan for the advertisement value of saying "go to these peoples y~tube page and see what our boat is really like. These things take allot longer than 3 days.
I absolutely love Amel kitchen solution, table setting, walking room, you do not interfere with those at the table, they can do their thing, makes so much sense. I have no personal experience whit Amel, but the way it looks it's everything is very logical and pleasant.
the new 55 looks like it was designed by ikea, delos looks much more warm and spacious inside, ikea style is good for a weekend charter when guests need to feel like their in a hotel room but a true liveaboard needs to feel home
Great Video! I love France and the people. The market brought back memories, the lady asking me what day we would be eating the fruit, the freshness and the cheese's. An American in Paris. La Rochelle, what a nice place to live and work. Even the obvious history of the harbor. What a nice family you have.
CREO QUE LOSMUCHACHOS DEdELOS SE GANARON UNO NUEVO,SI NO HUBIERA SIDO POR SUS VIDEOS NO SE HUBIERAN VENDIDO TANTOS AMEL,YO CONOCI LA MARCA GRACIAS A DELOS,SE MERECEN LE REGALEN UN BOTE O LE MODERNISEN EL YA CONOCIDO,,, PIENSO QUESI SE CAMBIEN DE MARCA SE LLEVAN TODA LA CLIENTELA,LA GENTE LOS SIGUE
I have been following S.V. DELOS for 5 years. Thank you so much crew (Karin, Brade-ster and Brian & others) for sharing your adventure with us!The Amel tour was fantastic! I am also a world traveler and I admire your stick-to-it attitude! Fair winds!
Although this episode was definitely a 30 minute advertorial for Amel, I couldn't help be stoked for the Delos Crew! Way to keep it cool, unpretentious, humble, and grateful!! As many have commented before, Delos is a significant character in this story and all the mechanical and technical problems, fixes, and brilliant and innovative solutions that have been shown in the episodes are a huge part of the dramatic arc and continuing resolution and evolution of this awesome cruising lifestyle story and adventure! In addition, as a lesser sailor, I love seeing how other people work on their boats and how they deal with mechanical/technical problems/adversity- especially in foreign countries and especially with some considerations and limitations on time and budget!! (I doubt you would have as much of that with a new Delos 2.0...) As long as you feel that Delos is always safe enough to get you there and back- regardless of the course and destination- I second the suggestions to continue to dance with the one that brought you to where you are now (physically, spiritually, financially)! Of course, you guys are the master mariners that have certainly captained your life to the beautiful place in space that you are now- so go with whatever fills your sails, takes you to where you want to be, and keeps you smiling! After all, we are all just following along and enjoying your evolving story and lives, your stoke for living your dreams, and these inspiring wakes (episodes) you've created to document and share your life adventure!! Thank You!
Thanks bro, appreciate that. hey checked out your channel and looks pretty sweet. I was taking pilot lessons before I started sailing but could only afford one hobby and since you can drink rum and sail, well..... Fair Winds! brian
I am a new fan of SV Delos. I am so far behind, but I am so glad I found this episode of your visit to the Amel factory in France. I could never be as excited as you but I could feel your excitement and it was good. I thank you for sharing your adventures.
When I look at the 55, I see a luxury hotel suite...fine for a visit but not home. When I look at Delos, I see an elegant, weathered, comfortable cabin in the forest...a place where people live. Delos has a familiar feeling. One where you can put your feet up...there are no strangers...and the warmth of her personality gently rocks you to tranquility. I doubt I would be able to give the latter up. Having said that, the 55 is a sweet boat!
Only if is coming from the region of Champagne it is allowed to be called Champagne. There are others sparkling wines that are using the method Champenoise but they cannot be called Champagne. An example would be Törley in Hungary.
The French are , well, some of them are, very elaborate, have very established beautiful customs and food , and Americans typically know little about them. My fist view was when I was asked to help a French Professor at a college in the Redwoods of California, Humboldt State University, and I was a student, at 16. Internet had not even been a thought at that time. (1967) He wanted to hear French radio, so I helped with antennas on his two story roof for short wave. He had a luncheon, with many beautiful French girls, students, and his wife, his maids, ringing the bell for the maids when he needed something. The tastes were marvelous, amazing, infused with the best French wines. Amazing experience. His name was , I believe, Professor Weise or something like that.
I hate having to wear foul weather gear at a unprotected helm so I love the location of Amel's wonderful helm station. I really like the Amel 55 but I wish it had a swing keel like the Southern 57, which is no longer in production. I'm really hoping that the Discovery 57 or 58 will be available with a swinging keel someday but they have those darn double helms out in the cold weather of the Northwest Passage. I really enjoyed this tour of the Amel factory.....thank you for taking us along.
OK this explains why I suddenly started getting all sorts of million dollar yacht videos on my suggested video feed. Oh algorithms...how out of touch with my budget you are.
am i the only one here who wonders how they would be able to afford this boat??? i cost around 1.5 million dollars. or is everyone else a multimillionaire here?
bought mine for 4k :) its only a 26 footer though. didnt get really any video watched so i stopped making them. i didnt have hot girls on my videos lol
dave, i know their story and I admire their dedication. My understanding is they now live from patreon donations, youtube videos etc. While I believe this (well deserved money) may give enough income for 3 people to live and maintain the boat, i would be extremely surprised if it allows them to put aside 1.5 million us dollars in the last few years. and that is how much a a new Amel including equipment costs.
Thank you for sharing your life story, your boat, and your adventure. I watch and want to go sailing. I was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and a jumpmaster, however, on one of my jumps I fell over 200 feet and although I survived it took a toll on me. I watch your show and just smile all the time. Keep the shows going. Congratulations on your TH-cam success.
I bet that it will be announced later by Brian, (when the finer points are negotiated), that Amel have made a very serious offer to the Delos crew; re the lease/purchase/use of a new 54foot boat, given the value of the weekly exposure Delos has direct to the sailing community, in lue of the boats full value. If Amel don't smoother producer will jump in, given, that Vagabond got a new cat and the single hull market is even bigger. Sean in Ireland
Perhaps that may happen. However I highly doubt that Captain Bri Bri will sell HIMSELF & CREW out to anyone. He is too smart to sell his Delos brand out to save a few $. Sure Amel can carve $350 - $550 K off the price of a new "64", but BBK will retain all their "intellectual property" Amel has already received millions of dollars of free advertising with Delos 250K followers.
The Amel brand was very well known before SV Delos started, due to Amel is top class yacht builders, their new boats are bought by multi digit millionaires , an 2012 Amel 55 is on the market for $1m, brand new $1.5m and can easily go to $3m with all extra's they offer.
Dazfos, Lease/purchase idea won't work because during the lease period they will not own the boat. This means the boat must be registered in France, and given that no member of the Delos crew is French national or French resident, then they will have to take a French co-owner (that's French Maritime regulations) who will own at least 50% of the boat. You see the nightmare? That's how SLV got themselves tied up in a knot that just might end up choking them to death (La Vagabonde is under French registry).
I had a big smile on my face the whole time. I secretly kept hoping that Amel would do for you what Outremer did for La Vagabonde. It's a lot to hope for and their hospitality was above and beyond, glad you guys got to have that experience.
Great job and it's always good to learn more about the history of your beloved Delos. Go where your heart takes you Brian and keep doing what you are doing, when the time comes for a new upgrade nobody need to tell you, you will just feel it. . Fair Winds and safe travels.
A blind man building a boat, and what a boat! He had serious vision. So far, in my armchair struggle to buy a boat, it has always been an Amel or a cat. Tough choice. Amels are beautiful strong sailing boats.
Originally I wrote, "I love the technical and boat stuff the most!", but your balance between stories, history, personalities, adventure, tourism, culture, etc doesn't suck at all! And SAILING!
Good to hear that Delos is a French Born, long life to all of you Guys ! It's always a pleasure to see you sailing around the world and showing us their wonders :)# Hugs # ;)
i hope amel realizes the advertising value the delos brand will be for them and make you a good deal like outreamer did for vagabond. your subs would quickly go to 500k. look forward to friday morning videos every week.
Except that La Vaga was a Beneteau and they go now with Outremer. I think that big ship group do not need that kind of advertising, smaller and individual shipyard yes ....
I feel a bit like Vagabonde's videos started to suffer once they got the new boat. But maybe it's because it's Europe and not some far-flung destination
I'm not sure the advertising value is as high as you might think. I'm not sure what the annual advertising/promotion budget is for Amel but I would be surprised if it was more than the production costs for a 55. There are a lot of factors that go into the decision to buy a million dollar yacht. Whether some u tubers have one might not be that big a factor. The entire yacht building industry owes credit to SV Delos not just Amel. Probably a bigger boost to the secondary market.
+minermarcus Finally, I just read some 500 replies (glanced thru them really) and finally got to one written by someone who seems to understand the economics of it all. After all, how many 55s would they have to sell to recoup the cost of giving one away? And I really do not think Amel has seen a huge upsurge in sales due to Delos, no offense to Brian and crew. I do think Super Maramus are a bit overpriced because of Delos. Fair winds.
If AMEL was really smart - rather than the un economical process of changing the guys into a NEW boat... why not do a fulll tear down resto of Delos? They get some advertising - the budget for the factory to pull apart and refit would be miniscule - Delos would have a working auto helm etc ... win win...so that's what I would like to see Amel do for the crew.
VIOLA!!! Indeed!!! I, myself was excited and became amazed of the sophisticated calmness of AMEL 55. But take note, I AM STILL FOR SV DELOS. But given the chance and the bucks I have the inkling towards the newer version of AMEL. Really a toast to SAILING!
If yall do get a Delos 2.0 just don't be like Sailing La Vagabonde. I use to Love their content along with yours and they were awesome but after they got the Cat their channel went straight down hill. Their content is not as natural anymore like it use to be. So now i only watch yall. I love the content keep it coming!
There are tons of youtube channels with all glam you can imagine and all sorts of fake things you can image , but still they have a million subscribers.. Once Elayna in SLV got a b**b job and they sold out to get a Cat, the authenticity was gone for those of us who love Delos.
My week is now complete. Now having to wait another week untill the next video and my half hour of bliss and ME TIME !! Love your work Delos . Please dont ever change !!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Ha yes, gotta hand it to Kiril he edited that part and kudos to him for taking the piss out of himself a little bit. He actually got a pretty bad nose bleed while we were sailing and continued on filming until we told him there was blood running down his face. What a dedicated dude!
Fantastic video of Amel Yachts and the craftsmanship that goes into their builds! Lovely boats, people, the La Rochelle area and the yachting looks amazing there in France!
Brian, i have to admit I'd love to see you guys on a Amel 55 but I'd be sad to see Delos go... She's a part of your crew. But man, that's a nice boat! I'm on my 3rd time watching your videos from the beginning... i just can't get enough of S/V Delos! It's so cool to watch you guys grow to what you are today! Thank you all so much for sharing your lives with us! I think i speak for alot of people when i say that you guys feel like family. You guys are an escape for me and many others from our everyday lives. I know your meant to be on the ocean but if you ever make it to the great lakes i'd have to meet y'all. Much love, fair winds and God bless from Saginaw, Michigan!
All this b.s. about the Auzzie's monetizing their channel and selling out, wtf ? When your shilling for people to be a 'patron', what is that ? They did what they did, and I'm sure they're good with it. If anything they just became so popular they got an offer "they couldn't refuse". It's entertaining. But if your asking for money, your asking for money (.). Relax and don't throw stones from your own glass house. I like both channel's. I don't watch either as much as I used too. I respect any sailor to take on what all people committed to saiing the world do, It's amazing and not many of us will ever do it. Camera's and patronage notwithstanding. Cheers ! How could you 'hate' either ? Settle down.
Joey Kneller , They're just calling a cat, a cat ! nothing wrong with that. no one can deny that SLV are now caught in vicious manipulative circle where they have to sell fairy tales to dream buyers continually in order to deliver on their commitment to their deal maker, because make no mistake, their deal came with several strings attached to it. It has a commercial smell all over it now. just too sad. Hope it's not the beginning of the end for them.
What an Awesome Episode. You all are an inspiration to many that come across your vids. "Like an old English pub" I Like it. Part of the draw you have is the innovative and ingenious ways you deal with mechanical issues and repair issues. You would not have to do that so much on a new boat. Thanks for helping me to smile more!!!
So so so happy watching this video...dont know exactly why, but this was greater than usual for my Delos Friday videos! Thanks Delos Crew and Amel for that!!!
Amel is so luck to have you sailing their boat , it's hard to say the name Amel, and not think of delos . I cant help but think you have increased their sales , proving what a great sailboat she truly is . Sailing at 18 KNOTS down the WILD COAST of South Africa to Sailing the Roaring 40s in 30 foot Waves . your a testament to the comfort and durability of the Amel . PRICELESS !!
What an experience for both you and the builders to exchange the workings of the boats and why the new changes great tour of where Delos was born Thanks
It's actually very cool when things break and you take us through the repairs or mods/upgrades. That's valuable info for people who would walk in your footsteps. A new boat doesn't offer that same storyline. Not for a while anyway.
Thank you for not selling out. I like Riley and Elayna and am glad they now have the dreamboat the wanted, but it isn't the same. I realize you (Brain, Brady, and Karen) will upgrade in the future to a bigger boat, but I will bet it will not be a sponsored deal like la vaga, and I respect that integrity. It is funny how much I feel included in the Delos tribe and have never even met any of you.
Revisiting favorite past episodes n Karin asleep on the plane caught my eye. An Angel that would one day bless this world with another. On with the story....
Sailing SV Delos maybe the finish line should be La Rachelle, where Delos was born :)
Great job crew! The video edit of La Rochelle was amazing! Delos 2.0 will happen in good time. Cheers from Tennessee!!
Cheers guys! Stay safe
"Half the fun is getting there." Keep up the awesome videos! Thank you!
I smell a deal. Good for you guys, if you do. You are the ambassadors to another generation of sailors. Many thanks and fair winds!
🙏🙏🙏
Hey Guys and Karen!
For sure you have made the right decision to SAIL ON with Delos. What a beautiful boat and the way you have her rigged is awesome. As an old sailor, diver, photographer, surfer, now contractor in the forest. I’m very impressed. I’m all about home improvements and by wisdom you have the best core to work with, Delos. Yes it’s a lot of work but what isn’t right? Love to the Delos crew for all the great videos.
Barry
Brian, I really liked the way you give Karen the credit that she rightfully deserves. Good woman.
Tim K social blade has them making max $122k per year. But that is without including the few sponsorships, patreon, or merchandise
Sounds about right from what I read. Not much when you remeber there are three of them and bills to pay. Making high quality videos each week does not come cheap. We're getting a great deal, the viewers. :)
Well put Tim K
Jttv, SV Delos Patreon page shows that they are currently making $12,610 per episode and climbing. At that rate with one episode released per week they are making more than 650k/year just from Patreon. I am not complaining here, just trying to state the facts. The reality is that they are probably one of the most underpaid forms of entertainment considering all they do especially if you compared what they make with tv actors. Just saying.
Thanks JJ
Surprise ! Even a "new yacht" will have it's failure issues for goodness sakes. Nothing lasts forever.
Thomas Wilkinson
That Amel of theirs has taken them so far. I don't think I would want a different boat.
I'm a bit loyal and sentimental though.
Also an honor for Amel to host the Delos crew!
Its a marketing opportunity.
One of my favorite Delos videos yet! Such amazing pieces of art! Really impressive the way they're built.
You have become a magnet for others to choose the Amel brand boat. You have proven the strength and comfort of the boat. Something that is very beneficial for the development of the boat.
Nice to see Amel roll out the red carpet for you and the 55' is gorgeous.
Great video guys, when you watch how these boats are built, you can see why they are so expensive! Awesome build quality.
These guys (that built your boat) owe you big time. Please Amel shipyard in La Rochelle, France, show your appreciation.
🥂 Cheers🌺🌺
@ Spiritedxx
No. Having spent a wonderful 15 months in France, I can tell you that the French know how to live and enjoy life. The French (I am certain whether it be Champagne, wine, or Pepsi Cola) have "pulled" from the bottle on many an occasion. (Perhaps, maybe not the Pepsi.)
Further, you should also learn the differences between "they're", "their", and "there".
I wasn't sure what was more beautiful. Karin sleeping on the train or that lunch on the boat!!!
Thank you for your service sir.
Yes, no question fate has been on their side, but people often make alot of their own luck.
Coudn't have said it better William. Great response.
Thank You For Your Service @LilliotWilliam
I can't believe how far behind you guys are with your videos!! When I was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war when ever we returned to San Diego I'd watch the sail boats and dream of being on one in all the ports we visited and the more intimate experience it would be. Thanks for reawakening that dream. I for one would like to see Delos 2.0
I am a felon so I could never do what you guys do, but none the less your exploits inspire me to no end. This is my favorite show!
What does being a felon have to do with sailing my friend? Please do tell!
I just don't think I can get the passports but it would be a life dream!
Jason Cragg - maybe not in some countries but it's a big world and plenty of countries might let you in. If it really is your dream you should check it out and do some research. Good luck.
I will I weight every Friday for the Delos!
onthebeaches1 Apparently the destination country can do a full background check and deny entry if they don't like what they see.

Classic Brian swiggin' champagne Delos style! Teaching them a thing or two on how it's done!
Bryan from Vancouver
I can relate to you guys, that must have been a very special moment. I did a similar trip like yours but for my Harley Davidson FLH bike. I went to see the shed, the Power Plant and the Museum in Milwaukee and the Vehicle Operations plant in Pennsylvania. It felt so special, like I was going on pilgrimage and it made me bonding deeper with my bike. Love you all! Tanks for sharing those special moments with us. Merci infiniment Delos! From a French Canadian Delos addict ... 😉
Stoked, I have been waiting for this video for months! Ever since I learned you went to the factory! I would love a 64!!!
Thank you for the reminder!
cinematic experience of the finest! Delos for president !
I rarely do comment the videos of one of my most favorite sailing chnanels, Brian, Brady & Kazza, but this one here I „like it a lot“!!! 😀
I half expected to hear you folks would be venturing in a new Amel, but I am also half sure we have not heard the last of this visit to France.
I would love it if these guys got themselves a new sailboat out of this!! No strings attached, no change in format. Congrats to them and thanks for taking us all along during your journey!
Reportage très intéressant sur les chantiers Amel.
Je prefere continuer à rêver en regardant Delos, le Amel55 est trop inaccessible
It very funny to see Mr Brady discovering the "Croque Monsieur" in the TGV
Who else thought they were going to score a free boat? Come on Amel!
Why Me? I thought for sure they were getting a new Delos. For shame!
I'm still expecting a new digs for the Delos crew. I assume La Vag...'s new boat is on some kind of loan for the advertisement value of saying "go to these peoples y~tube page and see what our boat is really like. These things take allot longer than 3 days.
TANSTAAFL
la vags has to pay for it,just got a discount and was given the loan from the company.think delos deserves it more though
I don't think Amel reached out out of the blue, just to show off the factory, they must have a deal in the works for a 55
I absolutely love Amel kitchen solution, table setting, walking room, you do not interfere with those at the table, they can do their thing, makes so much sense. I have no personal experience whit Amel, but the way it looks it's everything is very logical and pleasant.
the new 55 looks like it was designed by ikea, delos looks much more warm and spacious inside, ikea style is good for a weekend charter when guests need to feel like their in a hotel room but
a true liveaboard needs to feel home
Great Video! I love France and the people. The market brought back memories, the lady asking me what day we would be eating the fruit, the freshness and the cheese's. An American in Paris. La Rochelle, what a nice place to live and work. Even the obvious history of the harbor. What a nice family you have.
Hope a Delos 2.0 is in your future, cant wait to meet the new crew (after seeing them on instagram for so long)!
loyalndfan13 idk I kinda feel the old boat is part of what makes the channel special. Like how stuff is always breaking
Fair winds!
26:30 - blow your nose Kiril 😉😂👍
Great episode, really enjoyed it. Amel's are awesome yachts!
he had a nose bleed man, its a tissue.
(I doubt you would have as much of that with a new Delos 2.0...)
As long as you feel that Delos is always safe enough to get you there and back- regardless of the course and destination- I second the suggestions to continue to dance with the one that brought you to where you are now (physically, spiritually, financially)!
Thank You!
Well said guys, really appreciate your perspective. Fair winds! Brian
I like watching Delos videos with a Monohull, hope it stays that way!
True Delos Style...F'ing INCREDIBLE.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those French guys were definitely thinking "you do know the only Champagne is French?"
Au mieux un Cremant
Only if is coming from the region of Champagne it is allowed to be called Champagne. There are others sparkling wines that are using the method Champenoise but they cannot be called Champagne. An example would be Törley in Hungary.
Yes Archinald. , that actually is French law.
Hey, if the French didn't call them on it who are we...
NOPE all is correct...our budgets are the same, that's why WE ONLY get to look at the pictures, nothing more...
am i the only one here who wonders how they would be able to afford this boat??? i cost around 1.5 million dollars.
or is everyone else a multimillionaire here?
ein Mensch dude, my budget is like the poster above- free!
bought mine for 4k :) its only a 26 footer though. didnt get really any video watched so i stopped making them. i didnt have hot girls on my videos lol
dave, i know their story and I admire their dedication.
I'll bet the smell of glue in that building is strong enough to make you dizzy.
Great job and it's always good to learn more about the history of your beloved Delos. Go where your heart takes you Brian and keep doing what you are doing, when the time comes for a new upgrade nobody need to tell you, you will just feel it. . Fair Winds and safe travels.
When do you pick her up?
A blind man building a boat, and what a boat! He had serious vision. So far, in my armchair struggle to buy a boat, it has always been an Amel or a cat. Tough choice. Amels are beautiful strong sailing boats.
@ 6:42 Holy cow, those French girls know how to dress.
Originally I wrote, "I love the technical and boat stuff the most!", but your balance between stories, history, personalities, adventure, tourism, culture, etc doesn't suck at all! And SAILING!
Delos nd la vagabonds are the best shows on youtube hands down. @amel should hook up the delos crew with a freshy
exactly they deserve one
Delos blows vagabonde off the water. No comparison
Good to hear that Delos is a French Born, long life to all of you Guys ! It's always a pleasure to see you sailing around the world and showing us their wonders :)# Hugs # ;)
If Henry was still alive you'd have a working auto pilot! But please, don't go Vaga on us! You're smarter than that.
Fascinating to hear from those who had a piece of building Delos and seeing photos of Delos when new. Another terrific video.
i hope amel realizes the advertising value the delos brand will be for them and make you a good deal like outreamer did for vagabond. your subs would quickly go to 500k. look forward to friday morning videos every week.
Awesome boats. Delos must be in the Amel hall of fame... Deserves a berth down at Amel Prime.
I believe Brian is too smart to want to go into that much debt. But I guess time will tell.
Delos isn't even that old, and it has character. If it aint broke...
VIOLA!!!
Blur the buggers, not the boobies. ;^)
its paper towel though
lowell mccormick Bwahahahahahahah!!! Just laughed so hard woke the wife!!!
Yes, they posted it all on instagram and facebook.
Ha yes, gotta hand it to Kiril he edited that part and kudos to him for taking the piss out of himself a little bit. He actually got a pretty bad nose bleed while we were sailing and continued on filming until we told him there was blood running down his face. What a dedicated dude!
lol I was gonna say something about that but i knew it would already be in the comments somewhere 😂😂😂
Fantastic video of Amel Yachts and the craftsmanship that goes into their builds! Lovely boats, people, the La Rochelle area and the yachting looks amazing there in France!
Ya old mate killer Krill had a bit of snot hangin out of his beak and no one said shit haaaaaaaaaaa
*paper towel
lol righto
Keltic Viking it was friggn grouse
They said he had gotten a bad nose bleed so he stuffed some paper towel in and kept filming.
So, reception by some important Amel people that bought you dinner? I think that Delos is gonna go La Vagabonde soon.
Christopher Levin Never.
Hope not, I'm sure even if they did end up with a new boat, they would still be amazing to watch.
So so so happy watching this video...dont know exactly why, but this was greater than usual for my Delos Friday videos! Thanks Delos Crew and Amel for that!!!
What ever happens do not do a Sailing La Vagabonde, i dont even watch that shit any more #soldtheresouls
This was almost year ago. They are in South America now happily sailing on Delos.
Same opinion here, Unfortunately 😥
Yeah, and whatever you do, please stay monohull!!!😉⛵️
I gave up on them SAILING LA FREESAILBOAT people...they changed with the million dollar boat....a shame forsure
Hey,,,,, Have you seen Riley in Speedos,,,, wow,, that's my new excitement.
PRICELESS !!
i am now an AMEL lover
What an experience for both you and the builders to exchange the workings of the boats and why the new changes great tour of where Delos was born Thanks
It's actually very cool when things break and you take us through the repairs or mods/upgrades. That's valuable info for people who would walk in your footsteps. A new boat doesn't offer that same storyline. Not for a while anyway.
How cool of Amel to invite Delos crew. Respect.
This is life as it should be lived and enjoyed by all. With a good sailboat, the world is your oyster.
Revisiting favorite past episodes n Karin asleep on the plane caught my eye. An Angel that would one day bless this world with another. On with the story....
I have worked in several boat and yacht factories, and the Amel facility is the cleanest, most well organized that I have seen.
