Thanks Dave - extremely helpful :-) I have inherited a Stereo Realist from my parents as well as about 2,000 stereo slides which are a wonderful archive. I thought it was about time I had a go at taking some photos with it myself - I'd forgotten how fiddly film cameras are to deal with!

Yes, you can use flash, but how you do it will depend on what you want to use, ie modern flash vs original flash with bulbs. Most aren’t going to shooting with bulbs, but there still are bulbs kicking around. For modern flash there are a couple options. maybe i missed it but what viewer do you specially recommend that is available on ebay and do you have to use mounts? Excellent operation video of camera but how do you view these??
Yes, you do have to mount the images into stereo slide mounts. The stereo slides are then viewed in a stereo viewer to see the images in 3D! There are several different kinds of stereo viewers available for sale on ebay. The most common stereo viewers available on ebay are the Realist viewers and the Kodak Kodaslide viewers.
