Easier said than done. Every world class athlete goes through this. It's very very tough but that is the price to pay for glory. This is why she was so emotional.

The first two were unsuccessful, yet people in the stands stayed on believing in the magic of the night. By the time of the last attempt you could physically feel the pressure even as a spectator and I cannot imagine what she must have felt. Probably she just couldn't disappoint so many people. Or may be she was sure she could make a miracle when she wanted to. I don't know but for me the successful record jump felt then like a logical grand finale of a brilliant show.
