  • The ego fears the disappearance of its identifications. It clings to its narrative. The narrative produces symptoms in the body and in the field of manifestation that support the repetition of the jouissance of lower death drive-the drive to remain mortal and to suffer from the absence of divine love, sovereignty, freedom, joy, wisdom, and invincible spiritual power. Yet, the way out is so easy, so simple, so effortless, so immediate. When the moment of awakening comes, agony morphs into ecstasy, and all is recognized as perfect.

[To All Who Listen to Shunyamurti's Teachings: Thank you all for your serious consideration of these ideas, which are intended to help you live a more coherent, peaceful, creative, compassionate, and productive life, and to be of service to the welfare of our world. We understand that our approach to existential concerns is not for everyone. We honor your right to disagree with these ideas and to stop listening if you do not like them. We gladly post comments with disagreements, if they are stated in a positive and mature manner, that allows civilized discourse about your own contrary ideas, and which may spark further useful and profound thought about the important issues that the teachings raise. If there are sincere questions about the teachings, or misunderstandings that can be clarified, Shunyamurti is always ready and willing to respond with helpful elaborations and even to cite texts and other authors whose writings may be of assistance to serious seekers. But comments that are simply angry and insulting, immature and unreasonable, will be removed because they undermine the educational and inspirational purpose of this project. Those who have questions that are more personal should write us in a private email and one of the teachers in our wisdom school will respond in the same way, or if the question is a very subtle or difficult one and requires a response from Shunyamurti, we will forward it to him on your behalf, and when he can, he will respond personally. By the way, we want to clarify that these teachings are new, they are not simply a repetition of old traditional teachings, but integrate current thought in the sciences, psychology, cultural studies, and philosophy. Shunyamurti speaks from his own realizations and deep clinical experience as a healer.]

I have overcome the darkest of dark addictions. Life has become quite joyful but I do still smoke weed more than the average person. I’m now choosing to let go of it for a bit to see what happens. Curiosity almost killed me. Now it’s leading me somewhere unforeseen. ✌️

This truth, of the falsity of the ego and the glory of the infinite, is the most beautiful thing to me. And the point about the ego not being a unity but a multiplicity, and therefore a self-contradiction, is such a crucial one.
I often think back to this quote from René Guénon:
“...we can understand the real meaning of the word Nirvana, to which so many wrong interpretations have been given. This word literally signifies extinction of the breath or of agitation, therefore the state of a being no longer subject to any agitation, ever free from form. At least in the West, it is a very widespread error to believe that when there is no more form, there is nothing, whereas in reality it is form that is nothing and the formless that is everything.”

He seems to provide a lot of answers but those who think they have answers (teacher or student) aren't seeking any to discover on their own. A true leader helps a man teach himself to lead himself. A true leader is just a guide at best.

Summary: The ego is made up of many conflicting aspects with different intentions. If you come into the ego as the soul with wisdom and compassion, you can unify and bring the different ego aspects into harmony. If all parts of yourself are working together and have the same intention of reaching the ultimate fulfillment of God-consciousness, then this way you can rise out of the lower ego-consciousness state.

Reality is indeed an individual as well as a collective phenomenon. But no matter what Scriptures or beliefs calm you down by giving a solution to attain freedom the most scary thing is to lose the ego or "self".
What is the solution to accept losing your "self"? Becoming eternal?
But what if ultimately you become nonexistent? Can anyone accept being non existent? 😅

Shunyamurti has done in depth breakdowns of a few films in the past. I am wondering if he would be willing to do one for the short animated film on TH-cam called "I pet goat 2". I think he would be able to explain a lot of the symbolic significance with ease

There are cons to the excessive teachings of ego. The ego is part of all this. The ego is where there are trials and lessons and realizations. The sanyasins and rsis, they dwelled in the forrests all day long....they never mended peoples broken limbs or paved the roads, or grew the food, cultivated the land, built the bridges, supported the poor, fasion medicine from botany, nor researched, nothing...they never had to stand up and risk their life to confront tyranny - they weren't leaders or kyshatreas, nor did they even care because they were too selfish and indifferent to everybody else. The sacrifice they made was only for themselves.
How did they make peoples lives better? Spirituality doesn't matter when you have to survive and fined a way to get by each day making ends meet, worrying about if you'll be going to bed on an empty stomach, or if one becomes ill, who will look out for them?....it wont be the rsis or sanyasins.
Demonizing the ego is no such teaching.

The ego is an illusion, that's the issue. One cannot be identified with the body as this will only bring suffering. One is the witness of the divines will, not the doer. All that one has described on the phenomenal plane is not the action of the ego but the the divine s infinite expressions carrying out the will. Bottom line, separation is an illusion and so is an ego. Namaste family

Judge not lest ye shallbe judged. How do you know the rishis and sanyasins aren't helping humanity out through their ascetic practices? They may be accomplishing a lot more Good than you realize. As well as those people who are very active in doing "good" works you know like revolutionaries and what not, they may be actually doing a lot of harm. But it's not our place to judge their walk either. If you feel like an active life in the world is the best path for you to salvation or paradise or what not, good for you. But some people are called to what Jesus called the best way,(the path of Mary Magdalena as opposed to the active way which was the path of martha) the highest calling, the purest worship of divinity, the contemplative life that seems like nothing to the majority of people in the world and that's perhaps as it should be cause it helps keep the contemplatives humbĺe.. unlike those proud martyrs. 😅 im kidding...kinda

@@sonofsophiatrying to intimidate me, you are. There's a deference between facts, logic, wisdom and the judgement in black and white. You are using manipulation here, trying tk put words in my mouth, displaying your nature, all the while having not refuted the facts here mentioned - can you explain why this is?
You have no authority, stop pretending you do.

I'm sorry, I think you may have misinterpreted my comment. My intention was to stand up for those who people may accuse of being lazy or not doing anything but praying or meditating. Modern society likes to make us feel we are useless if we aren't working to make the rich more rich. If you drop out of society to pursue spiritual truth and God, many will just call you lazy. But the saints who choose to spend their time praying to God may be achieving more than you realize for the people of the world.
I'm sorry, I'm guessing English is not your first language? Nevertheless, I repeat, I mean no ill will towards you nor am attacking you in any way. All I'm saying is don't judge people who choose to live the religious life. They may be achieving more than you realize for the benefit of all beings.

More of a jungle book fan myself... its the bear necessities do do bear necessities 😅
You're kinda right though spirituality can be all dramatic n n what not n seems kinda foolish but that's a good thing sometimes too. It's innocent. For some people after experiencing the ways of the materialistic world and getting caught up in that game for a while it feels almost defiling and one seeks a simple homespun kinda wisdom sorta life and more of a life of the mind if ya know what I mean. He speaks to people that understands what he's talking about though. That are conversant in psychological lingo and terms from various spiritual traditions. I'm not saying you're not but if you're mocking him for his vocabulary jt makes me think you don't understand him but you must really want to if ya took the time to watch this talk. a critical attitude towards new information isn't always a bad thing but close mindedness is. It's a fine line we tread there

I disagree with the title. The nothingness of the nothing (the void) is the illusion of everything born from the real nothing (pure vacuum state/abyss). The real everything is reached only through full enlightenment/perfection/god realisation.
