- Macy's Santaland is an annual attraction held at the Macy's flagship stores in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco from Black Friday to Christmas Eve. The history of Santaland dates back to 1861, when Macy's advertised that Santa came to the NYC location to stock their counters with Christmas gifts. Since then, the store has been deemed "The Headquarters of Santa Claus" and "The Home of Santa Claus". Reservations for Santaland are highly encouraged and new time slots open 5 days in advance.

I chuckled that your visit to santa started with walking all the way to the end of that empty line and then back. I probably would have stepped over the ribbon where the last person was. And I wonder how many temps they hire to check you out all along the line. I seem to recall that you had the beginnings of an actual conversation with last year's santa, because he was aware of your website. A sociology student might generate an interesting paper out of interviews with folks in the line regarding their reasons for being there. Overall, I'd say this year's adventure may have called for more dedication to duty than climbing to the Hollywood sign and back.

2019 was the last Christmas Santa was out in the open on his Santa throne, and you could sit on his lap.

I had to revisit Santaland
Loved this! I remember last year when Santa knew who you were and was a fan of yours. That was epic!
I have been to Santaland growing up. I have so many fond memories:
1) No RSVPs were needed. Walk ins were welcome and I remember standing in the long line and we would go like further back in the store. Seeing offices which was unique.
2) I remember the train had seating and made it felt like you was really in the train riding
3) They had naughty/nice meter which was interactive
4) There was a portion that had like candyland decor.
Good times. But the RSVP system kinda sucked. Saw a kid crying when the parents told the elves that they did try to RSVP but sold out and struggled with RSVP. They were not able to enter the Santaland and that was bit heartbreaking. I wish that they could do walk-ins again.

I took my daughter there many years ago when she was little ! Santa Land was quite different then, but just as very festive ! It was also on a different floor and called the entire area Winterland !!
