i am just so happy that Park Eun Bin finally did got the popularity she deserves....when i saw her first in the king's affection...i know that she is special....i have seen so many k dramas for more than 15 years and style of acting ....i rarely seen an actress that can communicate their acting without talking or just by their eyes....this is what truly amazed me about Park Eunbin no wonder why the director waited for her to take on the role....i guess Park Eunbin will be a legendary korean actress in the making ....

I think it should be clarified that the writer may have used Temple Grandin as one of her inspirations for the character and story, but Park Eun Bin has said in several interviews that she created her portrayal of the character based on feedback and questions that she asked the writer and director as well as professors at her university that are experts on autism. She said that she did not meet or watch anyone with autism because she did not want to be accused of mimicking a real person and believed it was not right to do so.

The Hackberry Tree is often found on the border between river/sea and the land, though it's difficult for the sea and the land to meet, Hackberry grows on the border between them.
    Woo Young Woo = Hanbada
    "Bada" means sea 🌊
    Tae Sumi = Taesan
    "San" means mountain ⛰
Since sea and land can't meet each other, hackberry is the only place they could meet.
Young Woo as the whale in the sea (Hanbada) is actually difficult to meet her mom who is in the land (Taesan) but they met in the Hackberry tree that lives on the border between those two different places. 🐳⛰🌳

The Hackberry Tree episode ("A Tale Of Sodeok-dong") took 5 months to film. It's a pretty epic 2 episodes though so totally worth it. It is the first time where the story arc covers 2 episodes. The location of the tree is a real location in Dongbu Village in Bukbu-ri, Changwon, South Korea. The episode made the village famous and they get a lot of tourist now wanting to see the 500 year old Hackberry Tree (which btw is a real protected natural monument since 2015).

I first saw PEB in JUDGE VS JUDGE. I watched most of her dramas. Shes a very versatile actresss.
I love EAWYW, but I agree with PEB regarding the season 2. “If I were to share my honest thoughts, I feel that ‘Attorney Woo’ as it is now is a project that was wrapped up neatly with all of the affection that I could have given it given,” said the actor. “So if I were asked to unwrap it all, then give it more affection of a different kind, I would be at a loss over how to go about it. I also feel that I would be happiest leaving Young Woo’s next steps to imagination.””

I think Park Eun-bin is superb in this drama and I have thoroughly enjoyed it, a breath of fresh air. I didn’t care so much for The King’s Affection (The Red Sleeve was much better) and I thought she was miscast - a woman playing a man needed to be taller and, dare I say it, more broadly built to be convincing. Even so, she nearly pulled it off, through sheer persistence and determination. She’s a real charmer and I am going to follow her in future, wherever that may lead.

Men come in all shapes and sizes.

    • @Rouge_Ice
      @Rouge_Ice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Why was it a "miscast"? She was playing a princess who was forced to take over her twin brother's identity. Her character wasn't supposed to be a man, hence she didn't need to physically look like a man. She just needed to look "manly" enough to pass as a pretty boy prince. And she did.

    • @michaelkarlin130
      @michaelkarlin130 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Rouge_Ice But the character she was impersonating was not a pretty boy prince but supposedly a capable swordsman. I suppose it's a matter of opinion but I found her tiny size compared to the male actors around her, all of them very tall, to be quite distracting. I emphasize - it was a good performance but Park Eun-bin is just 5'4 (1m63) and it just never looked right to me. In any case, I have bigger complaints about the drama than that and I think the comparison with The Red Sleeve, released at almost the same time, doesn't do The King's Affection any favors. We can agree to disagree about the acting but I felt that The Red Sleeve, which is based on a true and rather tragic story, is a much better tale, much better told. Finally, I want to re-emphasize - Park Eun-bin is an exceptional actress, who has shown throughout her career a remarkable combination of intelligence, beauty and dedication to her craft. As I said, where she goes, I intend to follow.

Mary Temple Grandin is one of my childhood heroes! Her work is a must read for those that want to be pediatricians, animal behaviorist and educators. I mean anyone who directly work with children should. She is one of the well known and accomplished adults with autism. I hope this show will help viewers especially Asians, understand better and educate them about ASD. mental health, neurotical and developmental disorders are still taboo in many Asian countries. In some places family's cages and shakled loved ones instead for seeking hep not just because of ignorance but also the shame of knowing that their child or parent is suffering from such things.
Hopefully, viewers will rethink their biases against people with ASD. "Normal" folks have this crazy belief that just because someone is different it means that they are inferior.

It is more likely that Woo is based on Astrid from the 2019 "Astrid et Raphaëlle" French TV series. The characters are extremly similar in their behaviors (including the use of stereo headphones to block stressful noise, and the hand gestures). I am not taking anyting away from Woo. Park Eunb-bid does a marvelous job in the role, but Sahah Mortenson was simalarly superb in Astrid. Astrid is currently on Prime. It is not at all uncommon for countries to remake popular foreign TV shows in a way that fits their own culture. None of this is intended to take anything away from Extraodinary Attorney Woo. I have seen both and both are extremely high quality entertainment. If you watch Astrid though, you will see that Park's Woo is likely heavily influenced by Sarah Mortenson's Astrid and the situation is similar. Astrid has an idetic memory for police reports and she uses this knowlege to consult for a detective. Her father was an infuence on her development, and she has a similar love intrest (no spoiler though). Both have unique qualites though, and Woo perhaps has a bit more plot development with the mother back story, but if you watch Astrid, you will see strong similarities in the performances of the title characters.

I believe I've heard Park Eun-Bin claim that she deliberately avoided basing her performance as Woo Young-Woo on any other media representations of autism or any real-world autistic person.
Their common features may in part be explained by different sets of people interpreting the diagnostic criteria and associated features similarly?
Of course, it's possible that the EAW _writers_ leaned on other media or real-world persons.

@@jonaskoelker Either way, both are, in their own right, superb television shows and both actors deserve a huge amount of credit for their portrayals and interpretations. I hope there is a Season 2 of Woo and I hope that Woo watchers that have not seen Astrid decide to give it a try. (I saw Astrid first and Woo second.)

This Movie & Episodes Raised My Curiosity & Interest to know more about Autism Spectrum Disorder...
I Read numerous articles concerning Austism: Friendship, Relationships, Marriage, Intimacy; challenges, difficulties, methods for success...
I found myself thinking; if circumstances arose where I met someone like woo ( not necessarily an attorney ), but someone with her personality traits, character, values, principles, integrity, sense of right & wrong, loyalty, commitment, etc...
And we became acquaintances, friends, good friends, dated & fell in love... I could see marrying someone like woo...
    She has very positive spirit...
    She's a very likeable person...
She's kind & respectful, though her directness could be misunderstood & misinterpreted as rude...
There are couples that do succeed...
And like any relationships, there are couples ( marriages ) that don't.
Sometimes I got bit frustrated with actor or actress thinking: just tell them you like them, etc...
    Don't be afraid of rejection...
If it's meant to be, it'll be...
    May Not Happen Immediately...
But It Will Happen, If It's Meant To Be...
    🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
    🤩 Love ❤️ Is So Amazing 🤩
    😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Try to watch another Singapore 🇸🇬 drama called YOUR WOLRD IN MINE (你的世界我们懂) , it’s also about an autism child dealing a lot with the outside world and how his family members overcome all these difficulties & ridicules for accepting a fine child like him. The drama just ended last month & received an overwhelming response for it. 👍🏻
It’s also hot fave drama among the locals and overseas audiences in Malaysia and Indonesia. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

didn't the actress say she created her own character to not add to the stigma of all people from the spectrum acting the same way on tv?

Yes and her character being inspired by a zoologist contradicts that statement.

Whale is quite minority and also extraodinary species in the ocean (mammal). Just like a blue duckling among yellow ones in the opening, it can be regarded as another symbolism of autism.

I’m not fan of Eu Bin but I followed many of her drama since Operation Proposal!!! I think I watched that drama more than 5x! I followed Kang Tae Oh since Nokdu; Kang Ki Yong is a beloved secondary character that if he’s there you know drama is good! All actors are good and have delivered everything well! It’s ExtraOrdinary drama that you seldom see in Drama world like YangtzeRiverDolfin!
