Americansauce dude I had so much vintage supreme shit I recently just gave away and these kids were practically ready to kill me for it. It was garbage to me.
@@GasGotti im 16 rn and looking for clothes that have feeling like they used to in the 90s is impossible- either it feels artificial like h&m, completely engineered to fit a "skater" aesthetic OR its soooo expensive
How is it possible that one can feel so nostalgic and miss something they never experienced? Anything to do with New York City from back in the day (late 80´s all the way up until mid 00s) gives me the most incredible longing feeling and nostalgia that It can actually make me cry.
Joe Jay Joe Jay Never ever again. Now people walk around with cameras at their disposal. Cameras on every street corner. In every store. On every phone. In car windows. People don’t live life as a journey. They live it as a task and mission to be accomplished which saps all of the moments worth taking in and enjoying the very air you breathe. Life is not pleasure anymore. It has been turned into business. I remember walking around the city streets with my boys back then. Yeah we had cell phones in 01 but they were to make a call and receive a call. Texting was too arduous of a task so that was done far and few in between so our phones were used very little as we enjoyed exterior activities and down to earth young men energetic talk and experiences. Lessons learned. Laughs and cries. Love and hate. I miss those days with all my heart. People young or old barely and rarely share those special homemade bonds anymore. We are too postmodern to indulge in the freedoms that so many have fought and died for. Sad. I’m in my young 30’s now but I truly wouldn’t want to be a teen today. Too much propaganda and too much activism and no peace of mind. Too many causes but far too solutions. I weep for the young and the young after them. Those were the days and are no more sad to say.
Tony Furz Deep observation Tony . The whole world (most of history ) has fought and died for the very freedoms that we are giving away like they don't matter. The teenager was invented and/or manufactured in the 1950's...after the great wars..but even they had to go Korea,Vietnam etc. BUT their kids (my gen - gen X) lived the life .... 80's- hip hop, dance music, new technology and cheap goods. 90's - raves, grunge, better tech and even cheaper goods. 2000's- on the downward curve but still way above the 2010's.. We had time and freedom to enjoy growing up and learn about life the proper way (first hand non conscious experience ). OUR kids (born late 90,s-2000s) enjoyed the abundance and got to see some culture albeit 2nd hand, but now it feels like they don't want it. They can't understand it and are told it's bad if everyone can't enjoy it. Now they're all about "safety" and "the collective" and against "risk" and "the individualist" . Sad. Even sadder is that they buy Supreme tees that we bought in 90's for $20 for 100 times the price and think they are living like that culture did. It wasn't about the clothes back then, they were important, but not as important as the attitude, which is now in very short supply and rarer than any bogo or sneaker will ever be. This we're the days my friend, We Thought they'd never end. We'd sing and dance forever and a day . We'd love the life we choose, We'd fight and never lose, For we were young and sure to have our way . RIP NYC
They’re slowly bringing everything back, they slapped this image on a tee shirt for this season. Hopefully they keep incorporating skating and don’t completely sell out.
Can't even describe how I feel towards the 90's. The fact that I thought supreme was just a sick clothing brand, then 6 years later later found out Justin pierce my favorite actor was in the OG supreme 96' crew. I almost feel like I'm living his life through mine as I have similar traits. It's a shame what happened to him and the fact that nobody knows the history of Supreme as a brand, will always be a part of the skate culture until I die. Hope everyone made it out of the coronavirus okay, doesn't even feel real....
I've always felt a certain connection to Justin. Before I was even aware of him, I acted in similar ways and was fairly wild. It's also an interesting coincidence that he happened to die the day I was born.
As a lifelong NYCER born in 76 this video hit me so hard reminded me so much of me on my lance mountain skateboard rolling down the streets of NYC with my friends when life was truly beautiful whoever made this video thank you for making an old timer smile ✌️✌️
96... This is Nostalgic, The song fit Perfectly, You Feel Those Golden Years For sho Baby, You feel those 90`s Manhattan Vibes, Flawless shit. You feel that Real East soul of skate on this, You think about Supreme as an Underground Brand for Real street cats, You project Ya self on those supreme times, This is Why I love Supreme. Harold And Justin Rest in Paradise, Legends.
Maybe the way shit seems on the outside isn't all that. But I still try and wear the brand like it is a part of skating and is skating. Hard not to not feel that when you know the piece you're wearing is something a kid saw his favorite rapper wearing or being resold.
One time I bought Harold's old deck. Everybody was chillin at the cube. I swapped my deck and was like "this feels like a 540 flip deck!". Harold goes "maaan there's no such thing as a 540 flip". I got right on my board and tried it and somehow landed it on my first ever attempt! I thought everyone was gonna go crazy but no one saw it LOL.
I wish I started skating in 95 instead of 99...skateboarding as a whole seemed like such a core, tight thing right before large corporation got their hands on it. The fun, carefree aesthetic of mid 90's skateboarding seemed like the best time.
What a time that was. Chillin' in Washington Square Park. Shopping at Unique. Skate over to buy weed and t-shirts on West 8th, and then get hot dog on 6th. NYC still had grit back then. The city has lost its soul.
@JCT right? the internet blew my mind back open. Back then any brand under Steve Rocco’s world industries was my friends and I’s bet to hit it preme level. Blind was my all time favorite, I’d love to make a real biopic on Jason Lee and Gonz assembling the og roster.
German Vega just like anything else man, someone famous wears it, immediately it becomes a trend and the purpose/story attached to the brand goes kaputs.. used to be about skateboarding. Now hardly anyone does.
Lavern definitely man, it’s become a hypebeast brand and as of 2018 has reached peaked saturation. Shit is beyond lame at this point. It wasn’t even this bad like 5 years ago, blame social media
If you think of it. It's really only the fact one well known person wears it. Street skating has always had a connection to fashion It's just the stupid fashion industry has caught on and now rips off of skating. Just don't let the kids and hypebeasts come to mind first. I will always skate in supreme and huf. Cause they're about skating. Just like how Thrasher has become more about a fashion piece than a magazine even if it is still a skateboarding magazine
@Mind of a warrior wow the first time I saw supreme was in 06 I forgot the tee but my unvmcle had it bc the la store just opened and we lived 1 bus ride away back when he used to skate. he was the one that got me into skating. I'm sorry for the rant but it's so sadly nostalgic now everyone has changed
RIP Justin Pierce .
RIP Harold hunter as well
Both real individuals. Skateboading has a rich community and history.
