- In this video I'm sharing how to add foil to a paper project using rubber cement and my new Balzer Designs "Rug" stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.

Love this idea! I still use rubber cement often for card-making, even tho' there are fancier adhesives out there, I find it is wonderful in many situations. I've had foil and rubber cement in my craft supplies for years but never thought of putting them together! Thank you!

I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel. I've had old foil for years that I didn't use because I didn't know that rubber cement worked with it and the glue that came with it was long dried out and gone. Worked beautifully - old foil and all.

Love that rainbow foil, where can I get that? I don't think I've seen it in the reg craft stores (only seen the single color sheets) but then again I wasn't really looking for it...Thanks! Great video!
In the videos, I'm using Jones Tones Foil. Jones Tones still sells their foil glue, but no foil. I've been told that Thermoweb's iCraft DecoFoil is very similar.
Hey tonight I tried this technique, but it didn't work at all. I used all the right supplies etc but the cement didn't seem to have much stickiness and the foil sheet barely stuck on. I did try it on double sided tape and it worked well. What I finally came up with was using Aleens Tack It Over & Over glue on the stencils...it worked with foil flakes excellently but still didn't get an amazing grip with the foil sheets. Could it be that the foil sheets are old or defective? Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!
Rubber Cement should be very sticky. How thick are you putting it on? Are you using transfer foil sheets or foil sheets that are meant to be used for heat transfer?
Julie Fei-Fan Balzer at first I put the cement on lightly but then I tried a much thicker coat of it to no avail. The sheets say "foil transfer sheets" & I even got the glue that's supposed to work with it. Didn't work well either...
Gavi S If it didn't work with the adhesive it's sold with, sounds like the foil is bad. :(
