Don’t beat yourself up over Father Christmas and trying to force a happy time. Sometimes as mums we put so much pressure on ourselves that when it doesn’t go to plan (screaming toddlers, moody six year olds, hungry babies, can you tell I’ve been here recently? 😂 my eldest son who is three looked like he would sooner kill Santa than sit anywhere near him.) we beat ourselves up unnecessarily. You’re doing such a fantastic job with River, her speech is phenomenal and she’s smart and beautiful. Days like the one you experienced happen and that’s okay, motherhood is a hard job, being a toddler is hard. They feel things tenfold and as long as you’re there to help her weather the storm of emotions, you’re doing grand. Lots of love to you and your family from mine. Can’t wait to see you and your content in 2020. ❤️❤️ Ps: brilliant, your mum telling you off for swearing. 😂 my mum does the same, I’m 28 and have three children but still get told off for swearing.

I’m a teacher and run such a tight ship - always praised about my behaviour management... my own children aren’t quite as easy as 30 pupils! Best wishes and merry Christmas to you all. Xxx

I’m the oldest of four (three younger brothers), one of whom is special needs (quite severely) and my entire childhood was a lot of dealing with him freaking out in public or in shopping malls, on planes, playgrounds, etc. It can be really horrible especially if you’re the parent, but most people are understanding so don’t be hard on yourself. You’re amazing.
I have a 3 year old boy and I have had so so many days like that. Ones where I have ended up in tears myself! They have a way of pushing us to our absolute limits and then saying or doing something sweet!! Dont beat yourself up!
Don’t worry too much, kids can be sucky sometimes. My three year old can be a proper demon when it comes to things I’m really excited about come to think of it, so can my almost 2 year old 😫 but it gets better!

It's all part of being a parent and it can be disappointing when you want to show your child something magical that you hope your child will find equally wonderful and it bombs. What made you change your mind re: sharing river on social media? Previously you’d cut her head off or only show photos months later but lately she has been a regular feature in your content?
Fleur responded to a similar question to an instagram photo a few months ago and said something along the lines of not wanting to document her every move and letting her have as normal a childhood as possible. she said "its all about balance for me really... sharing a little, but not enough that her life becomes all about getting that perfect photo or making her do the right thing for the camera" which I think really reflects in how she portrayed this not so perfect week as a mum and how honest she is with her struggles hehe

I totally understand. My son went through the terrible twos and at one point I just felt like I couldn’t hope. I remember bawling my eyes out for good few hours. Motherhood and parenting can be hard. Certainly the hardest job in the world. Cut yourself some slack! River looks like the happiest beautiful little girl. I’m sure she will have more tantrums but I promise they grow out of it x

When I was her age and probably up through 5 lol I was terrified of any kind of person in costume! My parents took me to see Barney live- my fav at 3, watched him every day- and I reacted that exact same way! Don't feel bad, all children have their moments like that!

Just remember two or almost two is an incredibly tough time, they go through a massive development and leaps etc. The tantrum is not them misbehaving it's them not being able to explain why they are upset, scared, anxious etc. So don't think of it as your child being naughty think your child is asking for help. Read the whole brain child, it will change your life and make tantrums easy to deal with and eventually go away
Toddles can be a nightmare when tried, I remember my daughter at 2 screaming a shop down I didn’t know what to do other than get her home. It’s good how you talk about this though as social media can show too much perfectness when it comes to children and family. I’m sure River would be just as happy having you at home playing. I have so been there. My son threw a temper tantrum in a store and I had to literally pry his hands off a store rack that had toys on it, that he wanted. This was many years ago. Everyone was looking. It’s harder when it’s your child. Others don’t bother me at all. We forget they are their own person no matter what we tell them.

Aww bless you, some children do become very overwhelmed with a lot of stimulation, especially if they are tired. Riv is still very young so please do not be hard on yourself. There is no rule book and children mold us and much as we mold them xx

I’ve been there with one kid, two kids and now three kids. I’m so excited to planned memorable moments with them only to have them freak out and have total meltdown. I have learned and am still learning to only plan one event at a time, to follow there cues and meltdowns happen to everyone. Tomorrow is a new day and next year we can try again 🤪 It sounded like River might be growing if she slept so long and was not happy in a different environment. Where was that Abby in the last scene?
Not a mum but a teacher.... Kids are so unpredictable at any age! I have had meltdowns while on trips (I teach children with Autism and meltdowns can be epic) and it makes you feel like a total failure! Understand the disappointment but don’t worry you will have many amazing moments in the future😍

As terrible as the Terrible Day was, when you are older and she is away living her life, you will wish back this day a million times because the worst day with her is still better than your best day without her.

When I was her age and probably up through 5 lol I was terrified of any kind of person in costume! My parents took me to see Barney live- my fav at 3, watched him every day- and I reacted that exact same way! Don't feel bad, all children have their moments like that!

Just remember two or almost two is an incredibly tough time, they go through a massive development and leaps etc. The tantrum is not them misbehaving it's them not being able to explain why they are upset, scared, anxious etc. So don't think of it as your child being naughty think your child is asking for help. Read the whole brain child, it will change your life and make tantrums easy to deal with and eventually go away

Toddles can be a nightmare when tried, I remember my daughter at 2 screaming a shop down I didn’t know what to do other than get her home. It’s good how you talk about this though as social media can show too much perfectness when it comes to children and family. I’m sure River would be just as happy having you at home playing. I have so been there. My son threw a temper tantrum in a store and I had to literally pry his hands off a store rack that had toys on it, that he wanted. This was many years ago. Everyone was looking. It’s harder when it’s your child. Others don’t bother me at all.
We forget they are their own person no matter what we tell them.
After you said River slept for 12 hours and wasn’t herself I had a feeling she might be fighting something off. Now with this cough that confirms it. Poor baby!❤️

Aww bless you, some children do become very overwhelmed with a lot of stimulation, especially if they are tired. Riv is still very young so please do not be hard on yourself. There is no rule book and children mold us and much as we mold them xx

I’ve been there with one kid, two kids and now three kids. I’m so excited to planned memorable moments with them only to have them freak out and have total meltdown. I have learned and am still learning to only plan one event at a time, to follow there cues and meltdowns happen to everyone. Tomorrow is a new day and next year we can try again 🤪

Not a mum but a teacher.... Kids are so unpredictable at any age! I have had meltdowns while on trips (I teach children with Autism and meltdowns can be epic) and it makes you feel like a total failure! Understand the disappointment but don’t worry you will have many amazing moments in the future😍
Great vlog! I currently have a grumpy sick toddler and have also had a rubbish day where Christmas plans went straight to hell and this made feel quite better. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad of parenthood.

I get like that too with my 1 and a half year old. I have difficult days too. Especially when they are overtired. I can completely relate fleur.
We all have days like that. We plan lovely days and they just don’t go to plan and it’s disappointing and upsetting after putting lots of effort in. I always tell myself to lower my expectations because with kids all bets are off.
Someone once said to me that a child having a tantrum is a sign they are starting to show their intelligence. I choose to believe it!
