The biography written by Faubion Bowers actually contains a lot of passages and unique content from Scriabin's notebooks. Some diagrams representing his cosmology. The nature of mind and world. Other stuff too. It can be boring though, mainly due to its scope but Scriabin's highs and lows do show up in the engagement the book entails. Anyways, cool video man. It's awesome to know more people nerd about Scriabin. You definitely go way harder than me, which I appreciate, and even envy a little.
    All the best

Mmm yea I probably haven’t read enough of it to know how insightful it is. Glad you could share that perspective.
Haha I’m glad to know I’m not alone! 😁 Cheers!

If you are interested in his life there's a book by his close friend Leonid Sabaneev. They met in the late years of Scriabin's life. He wrote a lot about his personal life and last days. Also about music and Scriabin's personal ideas/thoughts about his music, that he told to Sabaneev. There's also words about prefaratory action, that sabaneev had heard, but unfortunately they have never been written and a lot of music scriabin composed was in his head, not on paper, because he did not plan to die(literally). It was called "Reminiscences about scriabin". It is not translated in english as far as i know. But with this much inspiration you can start learning russian lmao

Haha seems like a difficult language to learn! Is it right that Scriabin wrote in French but the Russian people that wrote about him after his death wrote in Russian? I hope the Scriabin books get translated some day!

@@jaybeardmusic8074 well he died in russia so obituary was obviously in russian. But regarding the fact that he knew french and it was common in nobilty and artistic groups of those times it is not unusual that he used it(especially amount of french in his scores). Maybe he percieved it as more eloquent? Who knows. But it would be indeed great if there were more books about him in english.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I’ve read Faubion Bower’s book on AS and found it enjoyable for its florid style and “pre-history” which helped me understand the exotic cultural milieu which gave birth to this genius. I felt he took some liberties when analyzing Scriabin’s personal life but that is the nature of biography and I enjoyed it immensely, nonetheless. Love your channel.👍👍

The best book about Scriabin as a philosopher, thinker and mystic is the book by his friend Boris Shletser "Scriabin. Personality. Mysteria", published in Berlin in the Russian emigrant publishing house "Grani" in 1924. It contains the most valuable memories of Scriabin's thoughts and how he created the "Preliminary Action". This information can't be found anywhere else. I do not know if there is a translation of this book from Russian into English. I have it in electronic form in Russian.

Wow! Sounds like an important insightful book about Scriabin! I am curious about his creation of “preliminary action”. Sounds like someone needs to translate it for us!

Never thought I was gonna apply the set stuff in my discrete math course, maybe I will now, since I love Scriabin as well. I more prefer hes early period.

It's inapplicable to music. Musical set theory is a pseudoscience, it doesn't even accurately reflect most chords.

Do you recommend any books for learning harmony and music theory which includes Scriabin harmonies?

The Etude Op. 42 no. 4 in F# major. One of my favorites.
