All these RE agents who are not native to the area, they always have the same neighborhoods which are nice but most are flood prone. Allendale in the 40's Avenues are high and dry, 40+ feet in elevation, large lots, car centric and potential for a scrape and build. Not a lot of homes come up for sale as people tend to stay for a long time.
The homes are over priced. Boomers are being greedy. Those homes aren't going to sell. They'll sit on the market until they stop asking for ridiculous prices. 700k for 1200 sqft??? 😂😂😂 GTFOH 😂😂
FL housing is no different than Cali. If you want anything close to or in a desirable area, you’ll need at least $1.5-2 million. And even that will likely only get you a 1300sqft house with one car garage built in the 1950’s.
I am thinking about moving from the UK to Clearwater beach Florida when I leave college. I am already doing some research to learn all about living in the Florida life style to one day to live there in the sunshine place because of the amazing sunshine and the marine wildlife over there experience. For my dream place to live in the future! I ❤ Clearwater Beach Florida so so much
I have lived here for over 30 years. I bought my first house in the lealman area. The reason why I bought there is because this is actually the highest area in St. Petersburg. I’m pretty sure it’s the highest area in Pinellas county. My insurance wasn’t insane and these are things that you need to take into consideration when moving to the Saint Petersburg area. Your escrow can absolutely bury you. It will be the difference between affordable and not affordable. Believe me I live on the beach now and my escrow is almost as much as my mortgage itself. This is if you can even get insurance. I’ve been canceled several times. Lealman homes are on the smaller side, but definitely is a family friendly neighborhood. And of course like any neighborhood in Saint Petersburg most of the homes are older I think you’ll find that most homes built in the 50s and 60s. But definitely worth taking a look.
High Point which is closer to Clearwater, I believe is about 100 feet in elevation. Ares of Allendale are about 40 feet and my parents always chimed in at "44 feet" every time there was a storm. The neighborhood was founded after the hurricane of 1921 to be an alternative to Snell Isle and other waterfront and flood prone areas. It was hit badly during the depression and building only really took off after WW2 and the final lots were built out in the early 1980's. No flood insurance necessary especially if you live on the west side of 12th St. A friend of mine, his house was a true 1960's split level with a basement. Very unusual for that part of Florida. I do know of one house in Snell Isle with a basement.
@@trulivingtampaI've seen a few of your videos (your perspective as a relative newcomer to the region is great) but I'm wondering why you don't talk about Uptown. It's the best affordable neighborhood surrounding the downtown core

Yup been here since 1989…

@@kennixox262 wow! basements are so rare if Florida.
What about renting, apartments? Not everyone wants a house.
I don't know about the apartment market, so I can't advise on it.
@@trulivingtampa Thank you
Honorable mention to Historic Uptown (which you briefly mentioned), but probably the most popular neighborhood for young professionals!
Yes! Som many great neighborhoods.
