Hold a car show at a venue nowhere near any major population centres, and at least 45 minutes from the nearest motorway, with no train stations nearby either.
Personally, if you want to hold something like this with easy transport links and that can handle a lot of cars, Stoneleigh Park would make a better bet. Sits between 2 junctions of the A42, < 15 minutes from the M40, 20 minutes from the M6.

Arrived at the what3words location at 10:30 as specifically requested and then spent 2 and a half hours sat in traffic (and we weren't even the worst affected)! In hindsight, funneling everyone to a single entrance was a collosal fuck-up and it could and should have been managed much better. Having said that, my mate and I did have a good time looking at everyones pride and joy, we got to see you guys and I personally had a great time chatting with JayEmm.

Here's a tip for anyone who wants to do a big event; Let it grow GRADUALLY. That you can go from 300 people to 2000 people doesn't mean you should. Let alone from 3000 to 10.000.

How do you limit it without disappointing thousands of people ? You cant. At the end of the day management at Mallory Park got it wrong. Easy to say after the event but they should have realised that more cars would turn up than on a “normal” event. Lessons learnt, hopefully.

@amazulu3401 I don't know them or the location. Just some ideas: besidse main area, prime close parking lots are heralded by a few lot managers that control who gets in. The rental or daily driver that is unremarkable SHOULD if possible also have a place to park, but maybe further away. maybe they can deal with a grass/dirt lot. Next, provide benefits to people coming by public transport or walking because they could be taking up spots with their daily . A bus ticket slip or e-ticket is somewhat trackable. Make people want to avoid the headache of parking and give them a reward for easing traffic flow. Not some lame shit like a 50£ gift card but like a nice set of continental summer tyres, whatever. You have sponsors literally who would love to provide these prizes for the fans while getting good PR... etc so many other ideas. Not to take anythign away from the event. Shit is hard to put on and you learn from every one and do better for the next.

One of the major failures around the 'fest farce, was that refunds were only mentioned on the petrolhedonism IG stream and they were only open for a short time. There was no update on the site where people actually bought the tickets from, which is where it should have been. People don't read every social media platform to find out what's going on, they go to the places they went to in the first place to find information. I understand that people are human, and communication is always the thing people complain about around events, but it's fairly basic that you keep comms in the same place so everyone can easily follow what's going on.

As I have said elsewhere I don't blame you guys at all but petrol headonism and Mallory park have a lot to learn. I used to work events and event planning for multi-thousand events on the medical side but was involved too with the main event planning including traffic and route management as we needed to get ambo's out and other services in etc. I think Mallory park need to learn to say no, it is a rural track with no main artery access they need to be realistic, just from looking on a map you can see it wouldn't work for traffic flow but if they say yes I don't blame PH fully. On the other side, the event plan should have covered this fully and noticed this ticking time bomb months in advance, if PH don't have experience in traffic management, outsource it to someone competent who does, you wouldn't have your own security and medical plan so why your own traffic plan. Please don't take this as an attack on you or PH just some advice and insight.

    Shed fest!
What went wrong and why from someone that walked 2.4 miles!
We were all told not to arrive before 10.30! The show starts at 11.30.
We were all told to use one single entrance!
The what3words was 2.2 miles away from the actual entrance of the show!
People were parking as soon as they enter, meaning people could only enter at the speed one person could park! Having people parking on 3 or 4 rows would of meant people could of entered 3 or 4 times faster
No one walked down giving people an update!
No one came down with bottles of water! No one came down with Water for the cars, this was called shed fest for a reason, cars breaking down with to be expected.
No staff that ran the event left the entrance! So that had no idea that we was queueing back at the towns High Street, we where parked outside wild rose tattoo shop for over an hour and we parked up and walked, as it said it was only 0.2 miles to the what3words location, so it was only a 8 minute walk, we we’d of known it was going to be an hour walk we’d not of done it.
Not one person thought to check social media! I find this incredibly hard to believe considering all of these people make their living through social media
No one thought that cars might brake down! Considering it’s shed fest what was they expecting? Why didn’t they have a breakdown Team to help people?
Why didn’t they have anyone to pull people out of the mud when they told everyone to park on grass after it had been raining two days prior? People were really stuck in cars were incredibly dirty.
Petrol heads deserve all of the hate! And Alex should not work with them!
Why didn’t Alexis Team read the instructions? if they had read the instructions that the event organiser gave they would’ve seen that it was a disaster waiting to happen! The fact they did not read that shows that they didn’t care. Getting everyone to enter the same entrance with never going to work, especially trying to get 10,000 people through one gate in an hour

    2. The directions advised a single destination for parking but once the issue has arisen either the entrance should have been changed or communication should have gone out.
    3. The number of people 11k would have been amazing but the location. Coming from the area. Can't handle that kind of flow or size. It felt in hindsight about the organizers (not you guys) pushing ticket sales.

I would like to share just how annoyed we were attending Shedfest.
An absolute ridiculous layout for all attendees to arrive, seriously, how was 11'000 people suppose to arrive at the same place at the same time. We were told not to arrive early, so upon trying to arrive at the correct time along with potentially 11'000 other vehicles, it was complete gridlock for many hours.
When we finally got in, more than 4.5hrs after arriving in the area & 6hrs from leaving home, we hear Alex saying how happy he was he'd caused mayem on the roads, with no care that we had queued up all that time, most of the Show Cars had already left, I only know this from watching some vids from Shedfest on TH-cam later on that night & the next day!
As it happens, we just about made it around the Circuit, rushing around, not having time to give any one Car the notice it deserved & trying to see the few Show Cars which hadn't left & gone home already before we got booted out at the end ourselves.
    A total cock-up.
Yes, we got a full refund, but we would've rather had a fantastic day, as planned.

Shedfest was great (I was in the white 68 VW Bay by the ferris wheel), but having a family in Wheelchairs (not myself but my wife and 2 children use them, lifes been shit the last few years) it was quite poor from an accessibility perspective, the disabled toilets were very hard to find (and none of the stewards knew where they were), and getting near the stage was nigh on impossible with wheelchairs.
That's definitely something else that could be improved next time.

it wasn't the small roads, Rory, it was the parking stewards. There could have been a 4-lane motoway leading right to the gate and it wouldn't have made any differene with them not letting in more than 5 cars at time. I would have thought it obvious that when there were up to 10,000 cars arriving they needed to keep it all flowing, and they were doimg the exact opposite.

We abandoned the car on grass verge after being stuck for an hour, unable to turn around as we were on a single track lane.. Turns out it might have been a blessing as we missed a chunk of the queue and the carpark chaos walking in on foot.
However, the total lack of updates on any easy to find platform was really frustrating. We were searching the web whilst sat in traffic for any info and were only told to park up and walk by a passing dog walker!

The only thing you could get without waiting 2 hours was a sunburn …
It was at Nevers Magny-Cours circuit and quite a traffic jam too !

They got in luckily but their feedback was that the venue didn't work and they would have liked for a bit more going on. I love you lot and I was gutted I couldn't go but I think it'd be a good idea to invest in a venue where you have too much space and overall capacity rather than not quite enough. I'm attending a few events this year and all are probably from smaller entities but are being held at bigger and more established venues. Silverstone, Donnington, Santa Pod, Goodwood ect are all established and big enough to cope with the events that you guys are worthy of. All being said they had a great time and I'm gutted I missed it, just have confidence in yourselves to plan and execute in house at a venue deserving of the event you guys are capable of delivering 👍

There’s a few hard truths here to reconcile. Did you have a risk assessment done? If so, did you really drill down into its minutiae? If so, did it have a traffic management plan? If so, and again, did you drill down into it? All of the issues you had would have played out if you had done and managed, a proper RA. It’s not good enough to blame your event coordinator, or the venue. For example, did you know what the flow of traffic might be and at what time? Did you pin the venue down with regards to their entry/exit points? Can you safely say you briefed the marshals correctly? And so on. Are you the event organizers or just the talent? If you want to be talent, then great just be that but make sure you have the right people in place. It’s f-hard to do these kind of gigs. My sincere question is, did you, hand in heart, drill down to all scenarios and possibilities? I’m just saying that maybe you thought more of t shirt designs and how good Rory’s mum would look in them than the actual event as a whole.

    1. The what3words entrance was to keep traffic off the main road which meant anyone who went mainroad just jumped the queue to keep it clear.
    2. There was a disabled access not being checked for tickets, many many people walked straight through the disabled gate. I reckon a good amount of parking was taken from non ticket holders.
The actual show was bloody brilliant though.

I didn't attend this year, but i did attend last year which was great to meet you guys, and finding out Taylor is a fan of my 330i Touring, but have been to Mallory park for Retrorides, I'll be honest and agree with the fact that access to that track is genuinely quite poor and very few options in and out.
I'd suggest it maybe better to consider Donington or Silverstone, both tracks have excellent road access, decent facilities, both reasonably centrally located and right off the M1 in both aspects which should resolve a lot of the transport issues for next time.
You could even discuss having track time with a hot lap system, Retrorides does it at Goodwood where you can get 2 laps hot lapping your car round the track, this gives people a taster of track time but not put too much stress on their car.

I went with my Dad and got a few pics of him standing on the spot where I got run over by a Buell, during a race with EMRA after I had already high-sided myself off my GSXR. Recounting the story I was st on the track, propping myself up with my hands watching the bike flip end over end into the gravel, thinking I was fine, before I got hit in the shoulder by the 1200 Buell..End result, broken radius bone in my arm, ribs one, two and three and four, smashed and dislocated elbow, punctured lung. my shoulder blade was smashed into three bitsI and dislocated was conscious throughout.
Enough about me but it was good to re-connect with my Dad as he actually lives in TRNC, Cyprus (the Turkish part in the north).
