Had this happen a few times with 2D animation, some of the occurences I could understand, but some were complete nonsesne, like... If you animate one arm with 3 keyframes, logically copying those 3 keyframes to the other arm, adjusting the position slightly and flipping each one should do the trick, but no, the arm starts doing 100 flips per second instead. There's only 3 keyframes, every single one faces the same direction, and yet the animation ends up being spinny... This one still haunts me to this day, it just makes zero sense
@@blainto Ah it’s a separate thing but looked similar. There is another problem capable of making animations do this despite being in the right modes that has to do with reset keyframes. Glad it hasn’t plagued you lol.

this has happened to me while using blender and i absolutely hate it.
I was trying to animate with 2D skeletons and had this same stuff happen. It kills me.

The issue was the rotation settings and also there where not enough key frames :)
