    0:31 Either a Cichlasoma bimaculatum or Cichlasoma dimerus depending on the number of anal spines.

    There’s a reason for the saying “nature red of tooth and claw.” Add in what humans do and it’s very rough to be a wild critter. Love the the swamp fish…that darter is a cutie pie.

    Perfectly timed video! Ive been researching Elassoma evergladei to add them to my tannin stained tank that has seiryu stone in it. Couldn't find much info about them in tannin stained water so I'm glad you made this video. Looks like they may be a perfect fish for my tank.

    I live in Tampa. Can I go on one of these adventures with you? I’m wanting to make a Walstad with Florida native only plants and fish. But it’s tricky doing something like this alone with the potential of a venomous snake or surprising a gator (FL native here. Not “afraid” of them, but just not smart for me to get in those types waters with high vegetation ALONE and isolated 👍 I’m too accident prone to test my luck, and my friends aren’t into getting dirty in nature exploration like I am)
    Anyway, I wouldn’t hold y’all back. I just love to learn and am a biology nerd and plant nerd since birth. And a tomboy.

    I think the cichlid is an invasive species from South America called an Acara. I could be mistaken though. The aquarium variants can be very colorful
    Update: i saw you mentioned the same at the end of the video 👍🏾

    If the water is in fact hard, asa you say, it would be from the calcium carbonate in the lower bed rock. If this is the case, then the water may be closer to pH 6-7 from the dissolved limestone.

    • @brianhammer5107
      @brianhammer5107 หลายเดือนก่อน

      NO, it isn't! That's a south american cichlid - invasive species that either escaped from pet trade or someone turned loose or is the progeny of same. N.A. sunfish - of which the Warmouth is part - have completely different fins.
