When I first watched RWBY (about two months ago), I knew NOTHING about it or its fandom. Mainly because when I watch a show for the first time I'd rather an unbiased look. One thing that stood out for me was that during the first two volumes there were moments that Weiss said or did something that made me think that she wasn't straight (whether she be lesbian, bi or other I wasn't sure) but after that those moments never actually went away. In vol. 1 Ruby didn't seem to have any sort of romantic attraction to either men or women (weapons though MAY be another story), but something I did notice was that Ruby never actually had a problem talking to Weiss (even in volume 1 when it gets pointed out that she's not good with people) Honestly to me, right from volume 1 the interactions between Weiss and Ruby had always been carefully thought out to make you wonder if there was more going on that neither realised, or one was into the other but wasn't going to say anything in case of ruining their friendship, or if they both realised but neither wanted to make the first move... It was only after watching all 8 volumes that I decided to look at the fandom and I have to say, I was shocked to see how toxic a lot of the fandom is about the ships... Edit: Especially whiterose
At this point I think that’s exactly why white rose hasn’t happened if it ever will. The backlash after bumble…. People are kinda crazy. The ice queendom kind of looked at this ship a little more. And yeah I agree front the start the natural chemistry between these two as well as the other girls was pretty clear. Then again all the ships line up with the pairings from the team assignments episode… Jayne and pirah were into each other and partners, ren and Nora, Blake and yang, and the only pairing left is white rose…… they started to have some moments and then the show spent time on other things.
That semblence turning the petals white and red. Ruby also turns Weiss's glyph red in the first season. Nobody else changes one another's semblences like this. Blake, Penny, Nora, Yang. None change the petals to multicoloured. Nor change Weiss' glyph. Aura and semblence are literal manifestations from the soul.
Oh yeah, it's all coming together. I mean, Blake and Yang (Basically canon at this point) are together with less setup in my opinion. But feel free to prove me wrong, I often am.
I thought they were already dating. Remember in Volume 4? After Ren and Nora fell to their presumed deaths, even though they came back in Volume 7, the whole Vacuo arc. It was after Jaune left the team to go off and grow a beard with Qrow. Ruby and Weiss were on the mountain top, they embraced and kissed. No? Anyone? Just me? Man, this Mandela Effect is tossing me around...
@heavyarms150 Don't worry, I do. It was based off wild predictions I made back in 2016-2017 when Volume 4 was coming out, during my senior year in high school.
Though I don't really dislike the ship 😊, I just really love the fact that despite they both disliked (hate is a bit much so yeah dislike) each other at first, gradually they accepted and warmed up to one another through the hardships they went through together. Thus creating this a very close and warm family-like bond, where they truly trust one another and care for each other. 🥰

You didn't put the part in volume 2 where Ruby was jealous that Weiss wanted to be partnered with Neptune, so she then put him to partner with Yang, and pulled Weiss out of the room for her own. Listen to the conversations after that, when they reached the cct, the tone was really how Ruby am jealous. My opinion Weiss sees Ruby as a little sister watch volume 9 the part Ruby ran off and Weiss conversations with Yang Blake, it's Ruby who has the hots for Weiss, look at the facial expression of Ruby when Weiss said Jaune has matured as the rusted knight.
That happened in Season 5 when they are at Haven and Headmaster Leo Lionheart betrayed them. Jaune was fighting Cinder and she threw a flaming spear at Weiss and Jaune was able to unlock his Semblance.
What happened to team RWBY having sisterly bonds. Plus wasn't Weiss into Neptune, blake into sun, and Ruby into weapons. But why do i even bother. RWBY has a fandom that ships two characters for as little as making eye contact, winking, having opposite semblance, being the same gender, being in the same camera frame. Shippers are one of the many, many reasons why I stopped watching the show.
"...being in the same camera frame." That was funny! (;]D` I know that the shipping can be...well...a bit obsessive. But when you have a partnership in sports, combat, law enforcement, emergency services or a real close relationship in any high stress working environment; you have a special bond with your partner, foxhole buddy, ladder mate, shipmate, or whatever you call it. That's what these two have, and it's actually well shown for all this series' story and writing inconsistencies.
For me personally, I don't ship whiterose, we already had 2 bisexual people, we gonna have another 2? That would be much, I mean even irl, bisexuality in the entire world is only 4% so already having 4 bisexual girls in the same team is super unrealistic, I'd like to keep things realistic personally, it's just cooler, and pls no war it's just my opinion in fact I'm not even a shipper, I just like to look at comments.
Actually Illa "likes" Blake and at the same time admires Adam. It's just they are promoting multisexuality and animalism besides they are faunus ... Weird isn't it?
Now, I ain't out to shoot whiterose shippers, but those two have always been "sister-esc" in my eyes, that little reunion moment between Ruby, Yang, and Weiss during...Vol 5 I think it was basically confirmed it for me. At this point I think it's going to be a Ruby x Oscar thing.
yeah, I can see Weiss and Ruby more in a sisters or teammates dynamic, Oscar and Ruby have more a romantic one. But both whiterose and rosegarden are good ships and I wouldn't mind whiterose being canon
The idea of her old headmaster in a boys' body and then being romantically interested in Ruby, when one day Oscar is going to be solely Ozpin just seems creepy to me.
