This is a great question! PMT has walkthrough videos for every Edexcel Paper. In these walkthrough videos he has added the topic for every Q as a chapter. So you can refer to that to help you identify which topic is required to answer the Q. 162maths also does this for AQA but he adds it to the description of his video on TH-cam. However you may be asking 'how to identify what topic specifically DURING the exam' rather than AFTER it. In that case read the question and focus on it's wording (e.g. work out the size of the angle' tells me that it's a trig question) I have created a google document that goes through the wording of the question and the topics associated to it. Please take a quick look at it and let me know if you find this useful :) How to identify the topic from the question : docs.google.com/document/d/1xdX4PY3uEsROhNJ4hQvr9awxDqSdBsSXhzT1KiKLtyk/edit?usp=sharing

That’s actually a very interesting point. During Sixth Form (near exam season) I’d sometimes ask my teachers if I can sit my past papers in exam halls to also help with my exam anxiety. Because I also felt like being in a large hall and it being totally silent would often make me lose concentration or make silly errors.
