Because you need the over all lenth for a jack rafter, the 19 1/4 was only to the wall plate and your birds mouth, the 2" is your overhang and what your soffit will go onto.
@@justingatti3400 yes there is, the jack rafters run into the hip jack.. the common rafters run into the ridge and are Commons, the jacks are the shorter Commons to put basically.
@@justingatti3400 , there is no soffit on a valley jack, a hip jack extends beyond the exterior wall just like a common rafter. there are other videos on YT that explain this better.

It’s not 3/4. It is 1 1/4. Half of the diagonal
