    Steve, thanks for posting the video so quickly. I’m pretty sure I’ve got this now. Great job !!
    Thanks again, Brian

      Thanks man ! Yep, if you loosen the upper clamp on the triple tree and can remove the upper hex nut on top to access the bolt inside (like the other video where I used the broom stick), it actually makes it easier to remove the seal in the lower tube by pulling down on hard on the bike it like in this video. Between the two videos, I’m sure you’ll have them replaced in no time 👍. Thanks again and all the best ! Steve

    hopefully I dont have to go this deep with mine, but just scooped a 94 xv1100 with almost 47k miles and needs some new fork seals... but thank you for posting this video, gives me hope that even if it is pretty bad it can still be done

      Thanks man 👍. Yep, it was about 10 times harder to do when the top hex plugs wouldn’t come out. I just restored a ‘96 xv1100 a few weeks ago and the hex bolts weren’t near as rusted so I got them out…doing the work on the bench like normal was soooo much nicer than having to do everything from the bottom of the forks for sure. Thanks again and all the best ! Steve

      @@StevesDIYs Any chance you can tell me what the light bulb size is for the bulbs inside the gauge cluster and turn signals/neutral light? I cant find the markings on the ones im able to get my hands on, and cant find anything on google searches. T5's are too small, and t10's are too big. One i had said 194 on the bulb, but i got some 194 replacements and theyre too large to fit into the socket. Any help would be great thanks

    Mate, I want an off road tire on my '85 750. they don't make 15 inch off road tires. how can I get past that? do gen1 have larger rims? and would they fit?
    thanks for your time, Nick

      Hey man ! Yes, the 1st Gens have a 16 inch rim, but I’ve not tried to see if they would fit on a 2nd Gen. The brake drum for the 1st Gen 750 and 920 is different (920 is bigger) so maybe a 920’s parts would come closer to working. Once I pull my 2nd Gen apart this winter for the restore I’ll see if a spare 1st Gen will go up on there, but it will be several months before I get started on it to see

      Hey again, I did some looking and actually found a 15” dual sport tire…it’s a 130/90-15 vs. the 150/90-15 that’s on the 2nd Gens though. It’s made by CST and is their part number C7208. Not sure if you can get those in Australia though as they look like they come from China and don’t show up as available for the US market.

      Thanks man ! They are sooooo much easier to do when the top hex nut can be taken out so the inner bolt can be held, but it is possible from just the bottom…with some trial and error, lol. Thanks again and all the best ! Steve

      @StevesDIYs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man 👍. Yep, I left all of the trials in the video as lots of folks say they will come off easily from the bottom, but sometimes that’s not the case for sure. I don’t give be up easily though lol !

      @@StevesDIYs a little solder and a broach couldn't help you remake the mangled hex?

    • @StevesDIYs
      @StevesDIYs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wilianamaral 👍. Yep, once I start in on the restore of the bike, I was planning to weld up the damaged hex and then shape it back with a Dremel grinder so I can replace them if I can find some spares. The heat from the welding usually expands things so much that it will break the rust free and they should come right out (works good on broken exhaust manifold bolts on cars I’ve found so hopefully it works on bike forks as well, lol). Since I didn’t want to risk it with no spare parts right now, doing them from the bottom was the only option…plus I actually got to see if it could be done as I’ve never done one that way but I’ve seen where folks say they did it. Seems that it’s not as easy as people say in some cases, lol !

    Are all previous virago owners destroyers?! I bought a virago and almost every component was damaged in that thing, it took me 4 plus years to get the bike to be a running bike again, and all the previous owner said it just needs a battery.😤

    • @StevesDIYs
      @StevesDIYs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man ! Seems like it for sure…everyone I’ve gotten has broken bolts, stripped out parts and were neglected to the point that tons of stuff had to be replaced to really have a good running and handling bike. Probably why they get rid of them as they just cannot figure out what to do and tear stuff up
