Woot! Thanks so much! Much appreciated, and welcome aboard! I've been more and more looking for games that can be played in a short amount of time, and this one looks like a solid choice. I still want to get it to the table, though. It's in the queue. :)
Excellent looking game! Liked your zoom-in camera work to view the counters. Btw, I have mention that I also like your strange blue Logo with the googly eyes...it makes me laugh😃
Thanks! And glad you like the logo as well! I've been thinking to change it as it's somewhat modified clip art, but I haven't found anything that I like better. :)
I'd definitely be interested in seeing a playthrough. I'm always in the market for a quick solo game, and the ability to create your own scenarios is icing on the cake. Can't wait to see what it looks like in action!
I just got the West Front for a prize actually. Coincidentally my 31 year old nephew and his 12 year old son are moving in at the same time. Two prime targets. It's not as heavy as other games but also not as abstract as many others. Good video. Thanks.
@@ZillaBlitz Just found a person on ebay with four new copies of the East Front and he offered it at 32 dollars with free shipping. Bingo lol. I do well off ebay. So in the end my free prize cost me 32 dollars lol. Totally worth it. Maybe I get to teach my nephews some history also.
@@timd4524 Ha! That's a nice deal, and I can totally relate to the "get this thing free which leads to buying all the things like it or connected to it." :)
Interesting looking game, I like the large colour numbers on the counters, wish some games I have had gone down that route. I like Tank warfare & will be looking forward to a play through. Another excellent unboxing. Thank you.
The very first hex and counter war game I ever played was the old Avalon Hill Tobruk. I didn't get into hex and counter games until this year and I started with the excellent Battalion Combat System from MMP with Brazen Chariots. Seems like a great system to get younger kids into playing.
@@ZillaBlitz I played it twice and on the first play my opponent gave me just a big enough gap in the defense of Tobruk that I hit it with panzers and took the city without trouble lol.
I think the 2-4 Action Point system will create some unpredictable turn endings, which I find fun when playing both sides in a game. You're not quite sure if you can do everything you want, and then the turn shifts to the other side and you've got to react again.
Hello and greetings from the UK. Thanks for this video and all your other videos too. I am a miniatures wargamer but looking to dabble a bit in board games too and your content has definitely helped in deciding what to look for. I have a few games already, including from GMT their Versailles 1919, Twilight Struggle and Enemy Coast Ahead - The Doolittle Raid. Based on your reviews and playthroughs of the series I should be receiving a copy of the Hunters soon. I have also been invited along this weekend to try out a game from MMP's Great Battles of the American Civil War series. One question though, if I may, how many baseball caps do you own? You seem to be wearing a different one for each video 😀. Keep up the great work!
Hi Ezza, it sounds like you've got a great selection to start out with, and I think there is a lot of possibilities for combining board and miniatures. :) I'm not sure exactly how many caps I have, to be honest. I had a stretch where I kind of accumulated a bunch. :) I like them now because it helps me identify in editing which video clip goes with which video. :)
@@ZillaBlitz My copy of the Hunters arrived today. Just need to carve out some time to go through the rules. Your playthroughs will though greatly help this process! Also today, I had a good introductory Great Battles of the American Civil War today. Very enjoyable and hoping to have another game shortly. Found out that the game host is a member of a club that plays war and strategy board games in a pub on Wednesdays. By a great stroke of luck that pub is just a two-minute walk from the pub where I play miniature games on Thursdays. Hurrah! A chance to do two gaming nights a week.
That pub sounds like a great find! Most excellent. :) If you do use The Hunters as a sort of play guide, but sure to check the video descriptions for known errors. There is only one that I haven't added yet, that I know of.
I actually like the longer games solo, and 40 hours is really nothing compared to some PC games. But for 2-player, I really like things that can be digested in a normal evening. :)
@@ZillaBlitz Might be in the US, I have the freshly localized and released Czech version :) :) :) Though it might be more difficult with the expansions, as we rarely get those localized for wargames (always depends on local sales, but still, the requirements from GMT/original publisher might be too strict or, in the case of things like P500, long in tue queue).
@@ZillaBlitz It indeed is, even though there is no map and it all "happens in your head" with relative positions and a "distance" tracker :) It does not have all the hardcore stat tables of Panzer (from GMT), but it also is no Memoir '44's pew-pew tanks. And the card play mechanism of stacking cards for additional effects is really nice. And I am not even talking about both expansions (North Africa and Tank Pack #1). Hopefully you will be able to get it!
Should you make a walkthrough or campaign about this game and for us to see, Zilla?!? And should you also go onwards with the videogame Snowrunner (hard mode), that you have left unfinished?
I am italian, and I noticed the names of italian units and counters are miswritten... Typical for you, "english speaking dudes", to always misread or miswrite italian names and words: I own a copy of Beneath the Med and it presents miswritten italian subs's classes and names; miswritten italian navy officers and commanders grades or names and in the rulebook, miswritten italian words too and "ways to say" as well. I have Shadespire, a GW warbands scaled wargame, and the cards are really badly written. I have the game "Modern Naval Battles" and again, italian navy's vessels are miswritten... And now I understand why you are so attracted by "italian sounding names" and products, but without knowing how to correctly spell and write them, and what are the differences from the real "Parmigiano Reggiano", made in Italy, from the fake "Parmesan Cheese", instead made in Australia, New Zealand or, even worst, in the USA or CANADA!!! It is sad to see how much few efforts you "anglophones" put into understanding the italian language and correct grammar, compared to mine efforts... To understand and speak correctly english / american related grammar and history/products... And to see the few efforts you made/make to ban "italian sounding (but fake) products" from your table and market; and by so doing, to help us protect our genuine and qualitatively superior products, could be they edible ones or fashion and design related ones!!!
Great video! This comment from your newest patron. :) Looks like an interesting game.

Nice to see this on the table.
Thanks, it feels like a nice tight system that should play fast. :)
Thanks for all of these great videos. I am binge watching
Sure thing! They are fun to make, more coming, and I'm glad you're enjoying them. :)
Looking forward to your solo review!
Thanks! I'm hoping to get some 2-player in as well. :)

Thanks, coyi! I'm looking forward to giving it a go. There's a few in the conga line before this one, though. :)

I'm excited to give it a go, especially with that lens of fast-playing easy-to-learn hex-and-counters game.

I have that old Tobruk as well, and remember crossing of lots of boxes for casualties. Such a fun game. :)
@@ZillaBlitz I played it twice and on the first play my opponent gave me just a big enough gap in the defense of Tobruk that I hit it with panzers and took the city without trouble lol.

You mentioned a list of top games for those wanting to get into wargaming...are you planning a video like that?
Actually, funny that you mention it! I'm almost done with one. Probably within the next couple of weeks. :)

have the digital versions found them really hard
Oh, in a good way? The AI is good? I didn't realize there were digital versions of these. Very cool.
Fun game, however I wish I could find some replacement counters. The white silhouettes just didn't do it for me.
Interesting, I don't mind the silhouette, but I can see how it might not be what you'd want. But good to know you found it fun. :)
I can't comment on the physical game, but I have the digital item. It's a very fun game design.
Oh, good to know! I didn't realize there was a digital version as well.
This looks interesting. =)
I'm excited to give it a go, the more I resume playing against real people the more I appreciate games that can be played in a single sitting. :)
