    When I worked on a fishing boat, I was told by the captain, that the "golden" color you mentioned was from fish rubbing up against rust from wrecks. And if you look at the color, it's more rusty then golden.

    • @ryantouhy4613
      @ryantouhy4613 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      larrysheetmetal li sound doesn’t usually have cod or haddock and the oceanic waters on the south shore don’t get cold enough for them until December or January, even then you need to go offshore for a slim chance of finding a wreck holding them

    I think the golden coloration has something to do with their environment. Fish will often change color to blend in better with their surroundings, so with the blackfish it could be that there’s rusty structure or rust-colored plants or something

      I would be very surprised, since there are very few metal wrecks in the area I fish. Plus the color is in their skin, not on it. I don't recall seeing any large golden blackfish. If it came from wrecks, I'd expect the color to be spread across all sizes.

      Always use a fluorocarbon or mono leader as braid is not very resistant abrasion. Lowest I’d go personally would be 20, but I usually use 30-40lb line. You may use a swivel or a connection knot such as an Alberto or FG knot.
