First of all, Shmee's whole video style is different. Shmee's videos are more vlogs than reviews. Second of all, Shmee has been on youtube for over a decade (consistently) and you're comparing them? Janko Lind made a very good review and there is no need for comparison. Especially if you don't know who to compare him with.
Wow, this is just the second review of regular 911 Turbo that I’ve seen. All youtube channels focused on the S version only, thanks so much, man. I still think 911 S will do the trick for me.
Well, they're basically the same car. They drive the same, behave the same, look the same. The only difference is that extra 70hp, a bit more torque and pccb as standard, but to be honest ceramic brakes for everyday use are a big mistake
@@ozelususWhy do you think PCCB’s are not for daily use? I have seen some other people who think PCCB’s are not for people who go to the track often! because they are so expensive to replace since they don’t last much longer on track use than iron brakes, yet iron brakes are much cheaper to replace. My own believe is that PCCB’s ultimate best use is for daily used cars in extra hot areas of this planet where brakes don’t have much time to cool off.
@@aaoaaa Not exactly. Ceramic brakes last a lot longer. Ceramic shields will last even 300 000 km while regular ones only 60 000. They're much more durable and resistant to heat, however they're simply much less comfortable - they're squeaky, make a lot of sounds, they need to be warmed up to have full potential and during a rainy day on express route they're terrible. If you drive for a longer time without braking on a rainy day, they get wet and cold and they don't break! You need to slam them really hard to get rid of the water film and give them enough heat to work properly. It's something that can be a big surprise. I was surprised like that a couple of times.
Dear Janko, thanks for mentioning the VW7 or VW4 glass option! As a new 911 driver I started with the Carrera T because I wanted to drive a manual sports car, I didn't realize how much noise the tires and the wind create in the cabin. I understand that it is important for a sports car to be lightweight but the noise is unbearable when you do long distance driving. I live in the Netherlands where it is difficult to find exciting roads to drive, the country is flat as a pancake and the roads are busy. I always have to go to higher ground or go north to find the challenging roads. I ended up sound insulating the T, I had the doors, the backpanels and the floor insulated. This greatly improved my driving pleasure. Recently I realized that the T was not the right 911 for me, I wanted more comfort. I decided to buy a 992 4S instead. Just before ordering the car I saw your review of the manual vs the PDK, in it you mentioned the noise insulated glass for the first time. At the moment there is a production stop on the insulated glass, in the Netherlands anyways. It will not be available until (perhaps) the 2022 production run. I was very disappointed because I will not buy a car without it anymore. Luckily I have found a car last week with the lightweight and noise insulated privacy glass! It now ticks all the boxes. I will be driving it for the fist time on April 2nd! Hurray! Can't wait! Thank you for your honest reviews and enthousiasm! It is very refreshing to see. Keep it real and keep on going! Greetz, Cliff
Thanks, C.T., the option is VW4 nothing else. I apologize for my mistake in this video. Congratulations on your car, if I understand you correctly you manage to find a 992 with VW4. It makes a huge difference. It is not always easy to buy your first Porsche. They look the same but act so differently. I've met many GT3 and GT4 owners regretting their purchase. I believe you will enjoy and appreciate your 992. Good luck. If you are not already, please consider subscribing to my channel.
@@JankoLind Goodmorning Janko, the VW4 glass is the glass without the tinted privacy glass. Option VW7 is the same glass with the tinted privacy glass. Both are laminated. You understand me correctly, I have bought an 992 4S with the VW7 glass. As 50+ a little comfort goes a long way. Thanks again!
Yeah I think they are many really good interior options. Black is classic. I have seen Slate/Chalk, Bordeaux with Chalk stitching, Black/Mojave Tan (like on this one) and they all look really amazing.
What a pleasure to finally have a review from a guy who gets it. My first ride in a Porsche was a brand new 75 Turbo. The first thing that hit me was the luxury and comfort. That this was in such a high performance car only made it the more impressive. Everyone focusing on performance misses this, the very essence of Turbo. The elevator does not go to the top. Beautiful.
@@JankoLind 79 SC. And planning on 992C4S this summer. But the first time I ever was in any Porsche was a brand new 75 Turbo. I was 18. We went 135. On B roads. Crazy good car for 1975.
@@JankoLind The owner drove it year round. His driveway sloped down to the garage. In winter he would back the car in. There were ruts in the concrete from the studded tires doing launches to get through the snow. Plywood on the wall behind to protect the sheetrock from getting blasted as the sparks and rocks go flying! The ruts were created by his 69S, but when winter came he did the same with the Turbo! True story!
I’m a recent subscriber and found your reviews on the spyder insightful and thought provoking. So much so i switched my configuration from a gentian blue with 18 way comfort seats and burmester to a GT silver with LWBS (Imitation is a sincerest form of flattery) for November delivery. Your analysis is thorough and has value which I rare in todays world. Your analysis of the turbo is spot on. Keep up the great work and hopefully the gods at google will work out why you only have 14k subscribers and put you on a fast track to a wider audience which you are fully deserving of. I rarely make any comments on a public forum but this is an exception.
Thank you for contributing to our community and BIG thanks for your subscription, welcome 🙏. GT Silver is a classic color, not wrong at all. VW4 light wight windows is a MUST HAVE if you pay for the Burmester. Enjoy your new car and thank you for the time you spend on my channel, I might have very few subscribers but they are the best 😊
I just took delivery of my Gentian Blue 2023 4S (model delete) and it is honestly as fast a street car, daily driver, as I will ever need. 0 to 60 in 3.2 with no ECU tune yet, I love the GT2 and GT3 but both are more uncomfortable and strictly track cars for me - to keep my license and out of jail. This review is hilariously funny but incredibly perceptive as well!!! Brilliant reviewer 😂
I never knew the Swedish had such a good sense of humour! On a serious note such a compelling video. Very mature and sensible point of view in how to justify the existence of the Turbo. Happens all the time in the motorbike industry. Ppl want to own the top spec when they are missing out on a bargain next shelf down model. It will still out perform the mere mortal riding it.
Thanks, Markmcc21, the 992 Turbo is such a perfect car I'm not sure the "S" model is needed. Thanks for subscribing to my channel and welcome to our community.
Janko, I subscribed a few days ago to your channel and over the weekend watched many of your video reviews. I am so impressed with your enthusiasm and detail. Keep up the work you do on these reviews. We love them.
Loved the kind hammering of the British people and their complains 😂 Question, how come the lightweight glass provides more noise isolation than thicker glass? I thought it will be the opposite. Any details?
Thanks for your refreshingly different videos. How many repeats of videos showing launched Turbos must we endure? Your views and insights on real life with the 992 models is much more valuable than recounting specs and blasting thru turns and corners on some racetrack. I’m very grateful for your insistence on specifying lightweight and sound insulating glass. The noise from the tires rolling over the pavement is definitely one I can do without, especially if it brings the Burmester sound system to life. Tomorrow I’ll be on to the salesman to add that option to my order. Called two friends today and forwarded your videos to them to check their orders, too. 🤗👍👍👍👍👍
@@JankoLind Thanks, Janko. Just yesterday I got an appointment for mid February for a Sonderwunsch Beratung at the Exclusive Manufaktur department in Zuffenhausens to tweak the specifications of my order, and hopefully finally select the right color. @@HLife719 You need to make the car yours, be sure how you are going to use the car and write down scenarios. - Going to work - Sunday drive with my child - Trackway ones a year -etc Then make sure you understand your experience. For me a 911 Turbo is all about being a gentleman and not a sports-freak. A 911 turbo should not be loud but elegant in my opinion.
Very thoughtful take on the car and why the “S” really isn’t needed if your not tracking it. Most reviewers assume you are racing an enthusiast car on the track; which is very unlikely. New subscriber here.
I've just bought a 992 Turbo and having never had a turbo 911 this is an amazing car to say the least. I also have a 991.2 GT3 and I thought they'd be the same or very similar......the GT3 is a road going race car and the turbo is a GT cruiser. The way you summed up the Turbo to the turbo S made so much sense and I'm glad to have the turbo. Great video and absolutely spot on jango.
thank you again for a great review Janko. I look forward to the next one. Every time I am out in my red Spyder, I think back to your review of the red Spyder and how excited you were. I hold you responsible for convincing me to get the greatest car ever
I'm British and it amused me but because I'm from here I've never considered it from the viewpoint of anyone from elsewhere - thinking about that I can see why it might get wry smiles :) However putting my 'serious head' on for a second lets remember a Brit journalist or even youtuber has to comment from a British standpoint and say what works or doesn't on our roads. It's a catch 22 tbh as our b roads are amazing in their variety and twistiness but generally are also narrow and bumpy. It also happens that it was an often used phrase in written UK automotive journalism (ie solely aimed at Brits) well before the introduction of online stuff so it makes sense its still a point that's got value here. I also suspect one of the reasons they say it so much is that when a car is sorted enough to flow down an average Brit B Road then it generally has an extremely well sorted chassis and will work everywhere.
Janko, love the review and the honest opinion on the regular turbo. A few questions. What is it that you’re saying at the end of this video in Swedish? It’s not captioned in English Can the PCCB brakes get damaged by a stone in between the calliper and the brake rotor? I wanted to spec a new car with pccb brakes to eliminate the brake dust
Hi Janko, amazing 992 turbo review , it is gentian blue , correct ?, the most detailed one for prospective turbo buyers. Friend deciding between 992 base carerra cab or the turbo cab for weekend fun no track duty , what would you recommend ?
I'm not a big fan of the 911 Turbo cabriolet, It kind of remove some aspects of the 911 Turbo concept. As I said in the video, you can not compare the 911 Turbo with other 911.
Thank you a lot Mr. Lind! After your video I ordered the 911 992 turbo with the isolated glass and compared it last week with a borrowed 992 turbo S at the „Hockenheimring“ with the Sports_Exhaust_System. I must have to say that my car sounds much better inside (and I don‘t have the Sports-Exhaust). I owned the 930 turbo, the 964 turbo, the 993 turbo with WLS 2 and 450HP and the 996 turbo before, when they were the actual models. There were never a turbo S (before 993 and apart from Turbo S Leichtbau) or a Sports_Exhaust_System. This is just decadent and a marceting-strategy. You can‘t feel any difference between the turbo and turbo S and the Sports_Exhaust_System looks just horrible. It seems to be taken from the Carrera with this massive plastic cover. The normal Quad_Pipes help identifying the turbo and still sound great, much more honest music in my ears. You’re totally right: The 911 Turbo S is only taken by people who never owned a Porsche before. Until 3 moths ago, there was a long pause and I’ve been driven Amg for this time, but now I returned to my roots. I’m very glad to see that you love Porsche too. Your videos are just fantastic. Thank you and please stay healthy. Greetings from Germany to Sweden🇩🇪🇸🇪

I hope all your dreams of cars become true in the future. I love your Carrera S and of course I subscribed this fantastic channel. I wish you all the best.
It’s good to read about your experience. I’m wondering if there’s a difference between them when it comes to sound isolation. Have you noticed anything between the Turbo and Turbo S?
@@David-mg8zu Yes, personally, I noticed a difference between the two configurations of the glass because some wind/ rolling noises are filtered out but it wasn’t such significant that everyone immediately register it, maybe it was only my subjective experience. Between the two engine configurations I haven’t noticed any difference. I had the possibility to speak with Walther Rhörl who always had and actually has the “normal Turbo” and said that the engine response of the Turbo is better due to the smaller chargers and feeling the power differences is in reality very difficult if even impossible for a normal, sporty driver👍🏻
On behalf of UK drivers: Plenty of us out there have no problem with a firmer ride, but the state of our B-roads is very different to the lovely surfaces enjoyed elsewhere. We need something that can cope with surfaces that are pitted and potholed. Without a bit of compliance the car will be thrown off the road. Thank the lord for adaptive dampers.

I just found your channel through this video today Janko, and your infectious enthusiasm grabbed me from the start. So I test drove a 992 turbo today. And my facial expressions were very similar to janko’s reaction to when he accelerates. I thought he was being goofy and over reacting. Nope. This car is completely ridiculous, and I want one!

I agree totally about the red calipers, on my 2020 Panamera turbo I had the calipers painted silver grey, like on the non turbo models, it is much more beautiful now.
Excellent and a fun review Janko! I was looking for the Turbo specific reviews (non s) all over the internet and I could barely find any proper ones. Thanks for the great work and I appreciate your enthusiasm as always. Also, I am wondering if this Turbo you tested had the optional Sports PASM (10 mm lowered) or was it with the standard suspension. If so which Suspension would you recommend on the Turbo? I purchased a 2021 Carrera S and am really not fully satisfied as I am bored with the car under 2000 RPM as it feels boring, I am wondering if the Turbo is really good under 2000 RPM in comparison? I would really like to swap my Carrera S to a turbo, what would you recommend?
By the time you add the basic options I would say are required for a 580 bhp car (and that are included in the S), you end up very close to the price of the Turbo S....but with 70 bhp less.
Also, issue with new cars as you mentioned. To many buttons to push, to get ready for full throttle b-roads, but thats the price to pay for both comfort and stiffness available in the same car.
Janko, i believe this one and an autralian video are the only ones about the Turbo, the rest is all about the Turbo S.... there is not a single comparison between these two 992 cars. My bet is that the difference in performance is so little, it would be too inconvenient for Porsche and for Turbo S owners to justify the premium, don't you think? And as you explained really well, I'm a petrolhead but not a racing driver, the logical car for me, would be the Turbo rather than a GT3 Touring. And additionally, I'm addicted more to torque than to hi revs. As an M3 e92 manual owner, I enjoy driving much more my GLC43 AMG than my M3. If, by any chance you get the possibility to test and compare a Turbo vs the Turbo S of the 992 generation, I think you will make an interesting point... cheers from Colombia!
the PASM S (-10) makes the car look MUCH better and dose not effect the ride comfort. But it increases the drivning performance in corners but not as much as the Öhlins Road and Track, therefore, buy without and add the Öhlins.
That’s the best 911 review, loved the British B roads, yes they are crap, but you’ve misunderstood it’s not that they are bumpy it’s the holes like land mines that rip wheels off that’s the problem. That blue and beige is just beautiful, yes in the snow -17, should we drive like a good citizen or like the devil stole it, loved it subscribed!!!!! Ps can I have the car when you have finished with it?
Hi Simon, I have the cars for minimum 1 week before the review. Its not a testdrive, it is a review. In addition I've own Porsches since I was 19 years old.
@@JankoLind also liked the comments about British highly paid TH-camrs, I quickly got fed up with them all getting same car, similar comments, the only one I really like is Harry’s garage because like you he obviously has had the car a while and worked out what he, the owner would want from everyday use. Your comment on not getting carbon brakes and staying away from centre lock is real world use not headline grabbing comments. Would have liked to know about real world fuel consumption, try asking about that and people look at you as if you are mad, you drive flat out everywhere, only if you are wealthy and view them as throw away items, I’m looking at you Middle East! @@emericrobert8203 Agreed. Even the regular turbo is well in the realm of "too fast to ever be fully utilized on roads". And with a few options, it can be almost as expensive as a Turbo S. Why not just spend the extra money and get the best of the best.
Porsche does it again. coming up with a car that is WAY too much car for MOST drivers, then puts on many sets of "training wheels" to keep their clients alive... might as well find an old 912 - which is all you REALLY need.

Hi Janko, thanks for the great video. I wish you could talk a little more about if theres much turbo lag in comfort mode driven at lower revs (the way i guess it will mostly be used) though, am very curious about that. Nobody else in other reviews even talks about it and I am thinking there must be significant lag because of the ridiculous power output but am not sure. But really, great video nonetheless and and thanks for making it! It's obvious you are a true enthusiast
Thanks for the comment, it is no Turbo lag, the entire car is set to sleep in "normal" driving. As mention, you always need to swaths on drive mode, etc to get all power. If the question is if the care is hard to handle, not linear acceleration, in normal traffic then the answer is NO. It is great to drive in cities.

Great review- and one to make me think. I have a 991.2 GTS, and have found the tire roar slightly more intrusive than I'd like- and have considered a Turbo as a possible alternative with a bit more refinement. Does your view on this 992 stand for the 991 Turbos as well? I think I'd struggle to reach the 992 Turbo... P.S I am very happy with firm suspension (this is a sports car after all)- I just find tyre/road noise tiresome on long journeys, and the ability to do long journeys is why I have the 911 and not a Lotus!
The 991 Turbo is much more refined than the 991.2 GTS. If you don't jump back to back between the 992 Turbo and the 991 Turbo you will not feel the same.
What a beautiful colour - looks so good against the snow and blue sky. The Turbo is definitely the sweet spot in terms of bang for buck! Who gives an elk poop for 0.1s Great sense in your video - car and father philosophy.

A Turbo branded 911 is often a dream car purchase for a life long enthusiast. If they have the means to buy then I propose that the purchase goes well beyond a logical and reasonable decision. There is a large amount of emotion in that purchase. Why cut that dream off at just "Turbo"? Go all the way to Turbo S, not for 2 tenths of a second but for the feeling that comes with getting into the top dog Turbo. If you were not buying on emotion to begin with then you would be shopping a Carrera 4S. You jump to Turbo for something intangible as well as tangible, you may as well jump in all the way.
Thanks for contributing to our community hockeymann88, I understand your point but I disagree. The 911 Turbo is another species. Driving a 911 Turbo regardless of the power is another ride. Therefore you don't buy a Turbo for its performance figures but rather for the concept, and for that, you don't need 700 hp.
I'm tired of blokes complaining about how small the back seat is. It's because of these wussies the 911 ballooned to this size. Just buy an SUV instead of trying to ruin the size of what once was a perfect sportscar!
I agree but I don't want my kid to spend 5-7 hours in the back. Therefore a Cayenne is much mor suited. IF you are not already, please consider subscribing.

My own believe is that PCCB’s ultimate best use is for daily used cars in extra hot areas of this planet where brakes don’t have much time to cool off.

Not exactly.

@@c.t.eshuis7773 Sorry did not know the code for the tinted version, thanks for enlightening me. Take care.
@c.t.eshuis7773, How did you find the VW7 glass after taking delivery of your car? Did you have to sound insulate it like your old one?
Janko! You nailed the difference between S and non S owners! You’re the best!
Thanks, perhaps I was a bit to hard on the S drivers.
So refreshing to see a Porsche with a bit of colour on the inside, instead of black. The blue on the outside also looks amazing by the way.
On a Turbo I believe it takes the car to a new level. I was thinking white with red interior.
Beautiful.
Hi Charles, I believe we are on the same page. Sound like you have owned a 911 Turbo.
@@JankoLind 79 SC. And planning on 992C4S this summer. But the first time I ever was in any Porsche was a brand new 75 Turbo. I was 18. We went 135. On B roads. Crazy good car for 1975.
@@charlesmiller6281 What a first Porsche experience, congratulations...
True story!
I think you forgot to mention that Turbo S only has the PDCC chassis which is super stiff. Plus the carbon brakes only make sense on track.
I’m a recent subscriber and found your reviews on the spyder insightful and thought provoking. So much so i switched my configuration from a gentian blue with 18 way comfort seats and burmester to a GT silver with LWBS (Imitation is a sincerest form of flattery) for November delivery. The 911 turbo is a uniq car, not sure there is anything els on the market.

Perfect review. It is very rare to find a top quality review on 992 turbo. Is it worth it to go for 992 turbo over the Carrera S?
yes

Great video,, I can’t find the noise insulated glass anymore, any idea?
Supply issues, the deliveries made is reserved for the GT3.
Loved the kind hammering of the British people and their complains 😂 Question, how come the lightweight glass provides more noise isolation than thicker glass? I thought it will be the opposite. Any details?
The glass is thicker and belive it or not lighter.

I've just bought a 992 Turbo and having never had a turbo 911 this is an amazing car to say the least. I also have a 991.2 GT3 and I thought they'd be the same or very similar......the GT3 is a road going race car and the turbo is a GT cruiser. @@JankoLind no. u right.
I'm British and it amused me but because I'm from here I've never considered it from the viewpoint of anyone from elsewhere - thinking about that I can see why it might get wry smiles :)
However putting my 'serious head' on for a second lets remember a Brit journalist or even youtuber has to comment from a British standpoint and say what works or doesn't on our roads.
Great review! And i am a proud M3 and M4 owner. Never had a Porsche but you are pushing me towards the experience of having a 991 or 992!

What is it that you’re saying at the end of this video in Swedish? It’s not captioned in English
Can the PCCB brakes get damaged by a stone in between the calliper and the brake rotor?

Hi Janko, amazing 992 turbo review , it is gentian blue , correct ?, the most detailed one for prospective turbo buyers. Friend deciding between 992 base carerra cab or the turbo cab for weekend fun no track duty , what would you recommend ?
I'm not a big fan of the 911 Turbo cabriolet, It kind of remove some aspects of the 911 Turbo concept. As I said in the video, you can not compare the 911 Turbo with other 911.
Whats about an GT3 Touring? If it had to be a Cab maybe he should go with a Carerra S manual?

Hej Janko. Ska skyddsfoliera en Porsche. Vilket företag skulle du rekommendera? Mvh
Enkelt, Autoshield, jag jobbar med dem.

No not much under 2000 rpm and yes it is 10mm lowered. Happy you found my review. IF you are not already, please consider subscribing.
By the time you add the basic options I would say are required for a 580 bhp car (and that are included in the S), you end up very close to the price of the Turbo S....but with 70 bhp less.
It's not about the money it about the 911 Turbo concept. But you are right from a financial point of view.
Love the review, full throttle on snow - thats how we live! :)
Also, issue with new cars as you mentioned. To many buttons to push, to get ready for full throttle b-roads, but thats the price to pay for both comfort and stiffness available in the same car.
I agree with both of your comments Roger, I hope everything is OK in Norway, keep safe.
Is the sport exhaust needed??? On the base turbo.
No
Fantastic review janko
Thanks
Great review. I totally agree about the square exhaust tips - it's my only quibble with the exterior.
Yes, the Square tailpipes are amazing. if you are not already please consider subscriber.
I agree, it is hard to justify the premium for the Turbo S in comparison to the "regular" Turbo. If you are not already, please consider subscribing.
What are your current experiences with the normal PASM and PASM S (-10mm). Can you say something about comfort and driving characteristics?
the PASM S (-10) makes the car look MUCH better and dose not effect the ride comfort.

Who gives an elk poop for 0.1s

The Turbo Electric car joke the first of many examples of dry humour common to Scandanavians & the more Northerly English..... appreciated
Porsche just put a stop sale on noise insulated lightweight glass. Not sure why.
Correct, they prioritize GT3.
The perfect car. 🥇
Could be :-)
Quality Review! Funny parts , great views ! Honest as usual! 👏😎I think I need a turbo
I think to Derek, when the first owner has taken the first big fall I might consider to go Turbo. If you are not already, please consider subscribing.
is that engine sound fake though? I remember 997 turbo didnt' have any sound just wooshy sound
No fake... but as all 991.2 and 992.1 they have sound composers. If you are not already, please consider subscribing.
Brilliant review!!
Thanks Quan...
I’ve had a 991.2 gt3 for last few years and thinking of ordering a 992 turbo cab for more trips
It is an amazing car, go for the 992 Turbo.
You're fortunate us British can laugh at ourselves.. but you already knew that.. Loved it Janko! fcuk sensitivity!! You come across as the kind of guy you could easily sit with in a bar and talk cars until the cows come home... cheers!
I did think 100 times if I should publish it and you are right, the British people I know could easily laugh at themselves. Regardless it was not an easy decision. It has a big scoop of irony and some real fact. I have not problem talking with you over a bear, but we might end up only talking cars...
@@JankoLind Forgot to say... I changed my mind on the manual 992 following your live review.. and ordered the Turbo last week. Your review is the ONLY proper review of the regular Turbo on the net.. apart from Autogefuhl.. which was not quite as informative and lacking in any kind of emotion..
