Wanna know what is so magical about this song? This song act as a skybox. Hear the ever echoing effect to it. There is really not much to the level: just a few NPC (while it is Hong Kong!). But that music makes you believe that you are in the middle of a place bustling with activity, like a lot was going on down there. Kill everyone in the level and the music doesn't make sense anymore (or you'll still believe the place is crowded!). The song completes the picture perfectly. It's like the song was not meant for you. You just happen to be there while it's playing. The song is litteraly Wan Chai
absolutely great way of putting this. it's really amazing seeing how older games with less resources harnessed the human imagination to fill the gap, and this made them that much more powerful, in my view, in the memory.

Might be because this soundtrack was made with a midi tracker and most developers these days probably haven't worked with those before. Thats and 'modern sensibilities'.@@nftyw
@@deus-x_851 It gets criticism because it is was so easy after Deus Ex being God tier difficulty; like you say though it wasn't like it was terrible it was better than many other games that came out back then
Currently I am playing Detroit : Become Human, that has a very similar overall vibe though the gameplay is a little different. You can see influences from this game all over it :) Which is never a bad thing.
@@DailyCorvid Never tried Detroit, apparently its bad if you look for a Deus Ex level of subtility and credibility, but very good if you want to play a futuristic movie with various choices and ending.

It was on sale and I was looking for something that pushed my graphics card, I didn't care about how it played it was just for cool screenshots. Turns out it's a really enjoyable game with tonnes of replayability. Suffers from a sort of indifferent starting mission but once you've played through it a few times it becomes one of the best missions in the game. Because there are so many ways to influence the outcome of the game, you become very aware of how easy it is to screw up. And the way they paint robotics as the thing which shapes the future, the approach to the humanity of computers is the same. If it is still on sale i'd recommend you try it!
Parts of this track can be heard in HR & MD during radio transmission, need to spend a little time while the conspiracy guy make a break between broadcast, also in HR can be heard in the mission of TYM.
This song reminds me of the hilarious shenanigans Ive seen in Deus Ex gag videos of JC just humiliating the supposedly 'scary' Triads by just standing out of reach of their short, derpy sword attacks and killing them effortlessly with LAMs abd GEP Gun-fu to the head😆 🤣
