Just got my S/E ZBT last night. This is a fixed blade that retracts. Its worth it. It beats my new CT and mini here 2. I have had MANY issues with the CT miss firering and some issues with the hera mini. Like both need a touch of rem oil every week or so or it miss firers. The extra milling on the S/E blade compared to the other two. As a fixed blade maker. I See where the extra $ in labor went.
I'm already having problems out of mine. Most of the time, when I try to retract the blade, it doesn't. The switch goes downward, but it doesn't do anything.
I was having some trouble with mine firing, but it retracted hard. I took it apart and cleaned a little gunk that appeared to be excess threadlock. I also adjusted the ZBT screw and it's firing hard now. It's still not as smooth and easy as the other dual fuel models.
I've had the Dual Fuel Troodon since it's release about a year ago, and it's been very dependable. I had to clean and oil my OG Ultratechs due to misfires or slow fires.
Troodon. Unless you are really dead set on the zero blade play, the action on the Troodon is easier and smoother. I have the Scarab, the Troodon, and the Mini Hera. The Troodon and Scarab are smooth and take very little effort to deploy, and the Mini Hera is the smoothest and easiest action on the market by far. I thought the Ultratech would be somewhere in between due to the size of the knife being in between. I've tried the models I don't own at the shop, and the Ultratech (just got it today) has the most resistance of any of the dual fuel knives. The Troodon is bigger, yet it's relatively slim and it fires hard despite being so slim in comparison with the Scarab. The Scarab has the best action as far as being smooth and easy to deploy, yet firing hard, but it's beefy in the pocket. Troodon is my pick for the best Microtech, and the full sized Hera is basically the same knife with a slightly different look. Bottom line....the Troodon is a better knife unless zero blade play is high on your priority list.
Side note. With zero blade play being really cool, the blade play on the other models is really minimal and not an issue at all for me. You won't notice the blade play at all unless you are wiggling the blade to test it.
I have never had a problem with any Microtech and I have all of them. You must, must, must spray it out with aerosol Remoil every once in a while and you will be fine!
I have never had a Microtech that I didn't have problems with (I did have a Dirac that worked 100% but only owned it for a couple weeks and sold it) and I have had about 12 over the years. I might just be one of the unlucky ones, you are not the first person I have seen that seems to not have issues. Which is your favorite?
They are crap. Got mine yesterday. Going back today. First fire failed, and it won’t reset. Talking to others and they are having a lot of misfires. They don’t have these figured out yet.
I’ve read it’s standard for microtech but a jiggly switch that rattles is a joke on a zero play blade knife. I have sub $100 OTFs that have solid switches. Not impressed.
Just bought one from you early today 👍🏻👊🏻
@@thefactor6909 we appreciate it!😁
Must have but will wait for other handle and blade configurations.
Hopefully different steel options too
IKR that mk doesn't work for me. @@dk210913
Idk why they didn't just start with multiple options, they had plenty of time??
tanto
@@sunypancr They always do this. The Troodon came out in this configuration, then they dropped different colors and blade shapes a few months later.
Must have. I'll wait a bit and see some reviews .

I’ll love to see a half or full serrated dagger version.
Waiting for the Vespa to copy it 😍

Same dual fuel set up, just scaled down.
Knifestock Europe?
I hope this version has fewer firing or retracting failures than the three ultratex I already owned

@@woodentulike2no If it's anything like the CT and Cypher it will be much, much more dependable
Does it fire smooth like the gen 3 troodon or is it the same as the og ultratech?
It's smoother than the OG Ultratech, but not as smooth as the Troodon, Cypher, full sized Hera, or the Scarab.
@@the_knights_edge slightly smoother than the Gen II ultra but nothing like the Combat Gen III
@@E-Knives thanks!
@@honkerh8r564 thanks!
Zero play?? So the slightly dirt from the pocket will stop deployment??
It won't.
@@honkerh8r564 hope
Hit me up when you have it in stock please 🙏!!!
Hardware also in Black would look nicer
This or Troodon gen 3 thoughts?

Combat Troodon Natural Clear Tanto is my absolute favorite!
