    If I were you I'd make up a cover board to provide a 5 to 6mm gap above the top bars to enable the bees to move over the tops of the frames. Here in the UK as you should know all the bee equipment suppliers supply cover/crown boards made of quarter inch ply with an edge strip providing that sort of gap. No reason why you cannot make your own using perspex of similar thickness though.

      That’s a really good idea. I’m used to BS National and not used Langstroth poly hive before. Thank you for the suggestion

      Marcus has made plenty of National hives from plans when he was still here in the UK, with crown boards with bee space. He must have forgotten, LOL.
