    Wow, everyone should follow the example of the Dutch FA. According to wiki...
    "The KNVB subsequently rescinded the red card, and Ajax banned Wesley van W from all of their home matches for life.[4] He was also sentenced to six months in prison, with two months suspended. He would also have to undergo treatment for an alcohol problem and report to police during all AZ, Ajax and Dutch national team matches for the following two years.[5] The KNVB ordered the match replayed in its entirety behind closed doors. On 19 January 2012, the match was replayed with Alvarado in goal. AZ beat Ajax 3-2 to progress through the quarter final.[6]"
    It's a pity the keeper didn't get a good clean kick at him and take out the fucking delinquent's teeth...

    • @NunzioFunaki
      @NunzioFunaki 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Totally disagree with the first one. The goalie should´ve been banned for kicking him while he´s laying on the ground (red card was absolutely right by the way - no opinion for the ref) and Alkmaar shoud´ve been punished for just leaving the pitch. The only person who is allowed to stop a match is the ref and not the coach.
      That this guy Wesley is banned for life is completely right. He deserved nothing better.

    • @mandatory055
      @mandatory055 9 ปีที่แล้ว +105

      NunzioFunaki Had it been a pitch invasion, and the goalie cleaned up the guy without any other provocation, then the red card is justified. But it wasn't just a pitch invasion, he assaulted the keeper, who reacted pretty normally to that situation, and I would have a similar reaction. This act of assault transcends the current game of football occurring, and the ref was stupid to issue a red card without actually seeing what occurred. This put the current game in jeopardy and the coach was probably right to stop the game, as the reaction from the Dutch FA affirms.

    I'm dutch but i'll say it in english so everyone can understand. I find the reaction of the goalkeeper absolutely normal, but i understand the referee as well. He's there to enforce the rules so he has to follow them. It is said that it is red by the book and so he has to show him the red card. But what he said afterwards was important too. If that rule is pathetic it has to be changed and not the referee who made the correct call should be looked bad on, but the people who made those rules.

      Referees constantly ignore or apply common sense within the rules, I hold a referee's ticket (admittedly a low level one ) there is nowhere in the rule book that says you HAVE to apply every rule in a 100% hard and fast way, in fact, in most cases rules are open to interpretation, particularly when it comes to the issuing of cards.

    You are taking the idea "don't kick somone when they're down" too literally. Yes, it's dishonourable to keep beating on someone when they are defeated - whether they are on the floor OR still standing! But a couple of seconds after he's been attacked, it's too early to make that decision.
    You have to look after yourself in this world. You can't rely on anyone else - not even always on those who are paid to do so.

  • @Klaratchi
    @Klaratchi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    There is a difference between defense and retaliation. I honestly feel in this case, the goal keeper was attacked and defended himself against an aggressor he reasonably could think was not done attacking him. I mean, even on the ground the aggressor kept throwing kicks at him. The goal keeper's kicks were literally aimed at the aggressor's legs. All of his use of force were directed at the imminent threat as a means to stop that threat. At no point did he retaliate or was his reaction disproportional to the threat, it fact, he was very restrained. Self-defense is not warrant for a red card.

    Letter of the law the referee was right to show the red card. Once the fan was on the floor but the keeper still kicked him it becomes violent conduct

      @juandiegofm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      +kflem80 It's first your personal safety than any trivial football game; He was under attack so He did what He had to do cause he didn't know what was happening.

      ***** I don't know man, it’s your own safety you know, but you have a valid point though cause I’m against any violence in this beautiful game that all of us enjoy. ‘Pura Vida’ from Costa Rica.

    It's really weird everyone think this was not red card. There are rules, violence is not allowed, and the ref did his job.

    • @epicgaminggames
      @epicgaminggames 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      +Deecky Rizzo The 'fan' did aggravated assault on a player. Using violence with means to injure. There is nothing about kicking the fuck out of the fan to defend himself from that in the rulebook. Think again next time.

    • @DeeckyRizzo
      @DeeckyRizzo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      epicgaminggames That is actually what IS IN the rules. You can't kick anyone on the field. That's why the referee showed red card. I think it was well deserved, even if it was self defence. He's a professional in work hours... you can't do that in any job. And there are people in charge of those fans.
      And shut up with your "think again" shit... everyone has an opinion, and people who doesn't share yours, aren't less "smart" than you... just listen theirs and give yours, if they change their opinion, that's well, but if not... it doesn't concern to you.

    • @epicgaminggames
      @epicgaminggames 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Prove that it is in the rules, and laddy, next time you go on a rampage, think again. I never called him less smart or anything. Knob

    • @DeeckyRizzo
      @DeeckyRizzo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      epicgaminggames It's too difficult to me to explain the rules, because i don't speak english very well, but i think it's common sense to think KICKS on the field is against the rules. So, anyway... i'm glad the ref did his job even against the opinion of people who think kicking the shit out of a person is OK.

    • @epicgaminggames
      @epicgaminggames 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think your English is quite good. But you're basically saying that just a kick against anything is against the rules. I know that's not what you mean. But still. Still think the red card was unnecessary and that card did take it's toll for both Ajax and the ref his reputation.

    What do the interviews from 5:15 (De Boer / referee post-match) onward translate to?

    • @TeamUniverseOffical
      @TeamUniverseOffical 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      De Boer said he doesn't know how he would have reacted if he got attacked on the pitch.
      The referee explains why he went for a straight red. He says that he saw the goalkeeper kept on kicking the fan when he was already on the ground. That's an aggressive action by the goalkeeper, which lead to the red card since aggressive actions are forbidden by the FIFA-rules.
