Okay, so I tried this regardless of what it shows on a Macbook Pro. Basically, this tutorial doesn't work for Mac. There are no selections showing although they function. However, when filled, they fill with transparent color. You need to click 6-7 times to get it to 100% opacity. To do a second layer is almost impossible as it doesn't position as it should - just significantly on top or significantly on the bottom. Also, I had to create 3 different layers for one word - one would be the front text, then it would be the border which I'd need to position underneath the text, then the background.

Only problem - can't get alpha to selection to work.

You don't have to fill in the parts manually if you first rightclick in the right panel, then choose new layer and then drag that layer down and AFTER that use the 'fill' tool like you used before.
