Just my two cents, a few years ago we purchased our forever home. It’s the first home that we’ve lived in with a tile shower and “rock” tile shower flooring. It’s GORGEOUS, but i absolutely LOATHE cleaning it! I would give anything to rip out all that tile and go back to the “tile looking” plastic shower surround stuff. Choose wisely guys
I hate tile and cleaning grout. I got a Swanstone solid piece on each wall (not a tub surround) 16 years ago. It is the absolute best choice for shower walls that I have ever made. Maintenance free. I would never again have tile.
I've seen wood (cedar or teak) showers and galvanized metal, in tiny houses for showers and they seem to last if you're looking for a different material than tile. If you like MCM. Get large format tile and stack vertically withoit a stagger. Faster and you get that look. 11:33
I got my dining room light for $5 off of FBMP. Brand new in the box! My friend installed it in exchange for the old one that was a more modern barn style type. Best deal ever! Hope you can find one you really like without much more searching.
You two have created a beautiful home so far. Enjoy the journey and get what you want. Don’t settle take your time your not on a time crunch and it will be your forever home.
Some basic subway tile will fit in quite nicely. In a farmhouse And it will go pretty fast when you put down a ledger board for your second row. Most subway tiles have a built in spacer. And you’ll get nice small grout lines which will be perfect cuz you won’t have to clean it much. Now if you want to go more modern a bigger tile can achieve that. But if you go to big they might move on you since they’re heavier. Maybe Jim has some tiling knowledge and can offer advice?😊 For the barn wood, could you leave out the cleaned boards to gets little weathered while you decide. Just put them up off the ground but in the elements and sun. You might have to secure them down so they don’t twist in the rain. Also there’s a sun bleached oak stain or weathered oak stain that you could try on a few boards to see if that gives you the look you like. Good luck!
How about Flex stone panels for your shower? There are a large number of patterns. Having tiled a number of tub and shower surrounds I won’t do it again. It is so much work. Plus it’ll extend your timeline by a lot. Love all your work!
They do carry weathered wood stain. It adds a gray color to wood. Could be an option for the beam. Also there is large format tile 36X36. Which would greatly decrease grout and go up pretty fast. Just sayin. I’m sure you will find something that fits the look you are going for. It will be fun to watch. Sometime you will have to take us along on your “date nights to Lowe’s” so we can watch y’all think. 🤔 😮😊

I agree, tile causes mold growth, cleaning the grout is nearly impossible!
@ I agree 100%. I’d never choose tile. It’s just not worth the hassle

you can use baking soda to turn them grey which will give you the patina like the weathered barn wood
You two make me laugh as well. Take your time to pick out what makes you the most happy. ❤

March… you are shooting for March. Ok then. LOL.
If you soak rusty nails in vinegar, it will age your barn boards (turn them gray) Good Luck.

Katie you are hilarious😂 you said be positive, it’ll fit, I’ll get some baby oil 😂😂😂😂
The lights where the hardest decision for us too. Was a last thing to do to tie it all togeather.

U pick what makes u happy! It’s your house. Go with what calls to u.❤
Enjoy you two love it when you are laughing 💕
If you really Love the pendants you pick, you will make it work.
Lights are really important, they can make or break the vibe in a room. ( and please consider if they are easy to clean)
Thrift Stores for your pendants 😊
Maybe would be cheaper to make your own lights, you know what you like and want, so make your own
Hope everything works out. 💚
Would copper work for your pendant lights?
I suggest you fix the floor now so that you won't regret it later. As always, nice to visit with you.
I don't know if you can get conservatory lights over there, but in UK most are rattan.
Katie can you post a picture of the light you are trying to match??
Kinsley is over it , she just wants to play ball!
why don't you get tile with a mesh backing so its easier to tile the bathroom
I've seen a couple videos with corrugated metal in the shower. It looked cool; not sure that would be easy to clean, however.
I was wondering the other day if metal roof panels could be used as shower walls. What do you think?
Why don’t you look in thrift/ consignment stores for retro type lighting which sounds like the style you love.
Apple cider vinegar changes the color may darken too much try it
What about paint on the beam, are you having black accents anywhere else, black would look good on the beam

My question is do ever make a decision without changing it a hundred times
