Red looks like he is the director of the FBI in this seen where he is at the head of the table.
It actually an age old mechanic to control people. Subconsciously, people will recognize you as the leader even if they consciously believe you're not. By entering the room first and picking that seat, you can control the room and they don't even know it.
My guess would be the director chose to film it that way on purpose. Think about it: he's an international criminal that they've been looking for for years. They have him here, now, in that very room. And yet, he's in total control of the room and the situation. How better to show that then to put him at the head of the table?

James Spader was great in this ,his silky smooth tone was perfect for playing Reddington
I could listen to "Will McAvoy" from (The Newsroom) talking about history for hours..
But for Redd, I could listen to him talking about geopolitics, quantum physics, art movements or even reciting the structure of UN for as long as he wants and I wouldn't lose interest, not even a little bit.

Funny how Ressler turned out to be right about Reddington infiltrating the FBI for their "Intelligence", but Reddington "Jedi mind tricked" them into thinking they needed Him and what He had to offer MORE🙂 That's top level negotiating skills right there! #Goals
he didn do nothing of the sort. his entire motive to turn himself in to the FBI, was to work with Elizabeth Keen. without that girl. Reddington would have been anywhere across the globe doing dirty business like the criminal he is.
Well, Liz was Red's objective, her safety. But he also used FBI to do what he, as a criminal, couldn't eg. put people in prison, threaten with arrest, worn legal authoritues about danger eg bomb in UN. He was honest here - he had much better intelligence than 1. FBI and 2. Ressler (I love the double meaning here) 😃
Yeah I was surprised too. But Red is the Concierge of Crime exactly because of the intelligence he collects from various sources. He always seems to know what will happen days before everyone else because he puts spies everywhere, and with his friends at the FBI, he gets personal access to top secret information they produce. We thought Reddington was a big fish in season 1, but he only got bigger as time progressed, to the point where making 500 million dollars in cryptocoins meant nothing to him
No he didn’t ? In season 8 finale it was revealed red has a massive intelligence network of his own

james spader is so underrated
I watched the first season of this and it was really good but as it went on it's got very samey mainly because with exception of reddingtion the other main characters were boring. Red is a very well written character, complex etc but unfourtanelty he couldnt carry some of dull plots. Maybe if they halved the run time and thew out all the "filler" plots
And Elizabeth being everywhere , one second she's with Red Next she's with someone else against red freaking headache.

The irony is that the whole series would've been a lot better if they wrote out the Elizabeth Keen's side of the story because it just became a boring, convoluted mess with his husband, her personal history and all that. Compared to Redd, all the other main-ish characters are not interesting or just poorly written. I think they wrote up Redd first and built up the whole story based on him, but didn't know what to do with the rest of the cast.
Bro without Liz there isn’t the blacklist , Reddington created his own empire to protect Liz
@@francescocipriani8888 Initially yes, the whole premise is about Liz, but her storyline by itself is just... I don't know, weak? The way they wrote her arc and her character is just somehow off-putting. Hard to put my finger to it what it is that annoys me so much about her. Its safe to say that Red carries the whole story on his back. By the end of season 2 you are happy when they write out her husband because that side story does not bring much to the main plot anymore as well (and he even managed to get a series of its own, although was not successful). At the start Liz's story makes sense, but once it hits season 2's end when she leaves the FBI, it just falls apart and loses its core. But its maybe because I haven't seen the whole thing yet, stopped at mid season 3 as thing came up IRL. Maybe I'm just too harsh on the actress's character perhaps.
I also think they stretched their mysterious relationship too much - they could have solved it earlier ( as being her father) and then still try to protect her from past and recent enemies
