Everyone credits this song to Amy Winehouse, but her version is a cover. The original is by The Zutons, released a year before Winehouse's version.
They put the most known version as the title but credited the original in the description

This certainly a cover of a cover, but this is much more like the Amy Winehouse version... I think that's why they put her name in the title.
Not only is it originally by The Zutons (who granted do get a shoutout in the description) but the cover is by Mark Ronson and features Amy Winehouse, it's not by Amy Winehouse.

First heard this song when I was ten. Got the Zutons CD for my birthday from friends of the family. Their daughter, who I was close with at the time, was called Valerie. I don't know if it was intentional but I still remember her fondly. They've moved back to the states now but I still keep in contact.

Pretty fun! I really really prefer acoustic drums though!
Funnily, the older I get, the more okay I am with electric instruments. :-) I do love acoustic drums, but there was no way they could have gotten this exceptionally dry and in-your-face overall sound with an acoustic drum set, the mics would have picked up too much room tone. So as long as somebody is actually playing the electric drums (and not a computer), I am okay with it for this kind of specific use.
For sure, it's always better to have acoustic drums. But I like that they make the decision based on what's best for each individual session, sometimes putting him in another room, sometimes in the room but further back. Here it's really nice to have all the musicians close together, without the drummer being isolated. The vibe is better, and the isolation of the sounds in the mix is great too. For this song, I think it's a good compromise, considering the subtleties in the guitar and bass parts.
yup agreed, I too would have preferred acoustic drums, and with brushes and some adjustments made to the drumkit, it is possible to still play in such a tight space without the drummer being too loud. That having said, the overall sound would be different and maybe just not what they were looking for. Great cover nevertheless!
Sure, but at least a human being is creating the sound. Plus, drummers never get to sit in a circle with the rest of the band.
i also love it how scary pockets use singers of all sizes, styles and types. not only full blown jessica rabbit ones. for example i love it how rett's looks are always "water and soap" as we say here, very natural and casual everyday like, she seems so relaxed and makes me feel like a friend of mine with a stunning voice decided to start singing at a party.

This is a hard song to top over Amy's version because it was already funk'd. Good try though. I would have slowed it a bit, made it a bit sexier with a melody closer to Prince's original version of Kiss.
