I was a teenager in the 50's - great music, times were a lot different then. No one had much money but boy did we know how to have fun and this music takes me back in time - thanks.
Satellite radio, Sirius, channels 5 & 6 doo wop fifties and songs of the sixties...to lay in bed at night and be taken back to my younger years...oh the memories...some sad and some outstanding....just to let you know I am 66 years old and getting to be a dieing breed of original doo wop & rock n roll as it was meant to be....
I'm 30 now and I love this music so much. I often wish I was a child or teen during this time. The current music doesn't hold a candle to this! LOVE IT!!!
Dancing in the Princeton High School parking lot on a July night, with my gal, Linda Hardy. I miss her and I wish I knew where she is. A darling doll. Sonny
I wish you could have experienced this fantastic time for music. Unfortunately there will NEVER be another time like this or music like that which we had back then. Start collecting these old songs now..it just goes to show how much you enjoy good music. Best wishes.
@doowoopguy Larry, you are never too old to rock n roll, doo wop will live forever... I am 66 years old and I was ther and I am still listening today...sirius satellite radio has channel 5, songs of the fifities and channel 6, songs from the sixties. I listen to them every night. What great memories to lay in bed and let your mind go back to the best times of all...
I wish people would stop telling their age, and then sharing some story about how they like this music. It's not a miracle, it's just good music. This sort of music is so rich and colourful. I feel like the best stuff happened in the 50's and 60's, and since then, talent and identity has just been melting off of artists, until we're stuck with what we've got now- "gangster rap", "hard rock". The past decade has produced some great music, but I'll never look back on it the way I do these tunes.
Still remember that Summer of '59' had just left my dates house and got into my 52 Olds to go home. It was a beautiful night @ 1am and I had picked up a Florida station and this song came on...it all just came together, gosh I miss the 50's.
Grl- Thank you from the bottom of my boggitty boggitty shoes. Great stuff. I am 46 and in the words of the Poni Tales, I was "Born Too Late" to rock n roll when this was on the charts. Larry C 46 yr old male, Topeka,Ks. 20 year broadcaster and radio dj before computers took over.
When my brother grew up and moved away I "inhereted" his record collection and his Hi-Fi..That started a lifetime love affair with DooWop wow do I love this music and that people are keeping it alive all these years later.
I grew up listening to this music because of my mother, which she still listens to it and now I play it at my own home with my family and I will pass this music on to my son who hears it when I play it =)
1955-1965 maybe the BEST decade for music... I know too, because although i didn't live in this era (i'm "only" 37...) i am in love with this music (especially doo wop's) since i was 15, it was truly "love at first listening" :-)))
being 15 years old, all i hear in music is like lil wayne and those things but when im alone i listen to this. these songs inspire me. kinda. they kinda take u to a whole different world and u actually feel happy.
Oh Gosh, Thank you so much for this Awesome Doo Wop mix of songs!.. I too, could listen to these songs all day long.. i hope you can do more of these wonderful Doo Wop mixes..Thanks again for sharing these songs..
@MiniLoveCC I'm in my early 30's and love listening to this kind of music too. My friends think I'm weird. But I still listen to it because it's what I like, and if I conformed then I wouldn't be an individual. Keep listening to the music you like, don't listen to what everyone else tells you what you should be listening to.
Just for the record (no pun intended)...DOO-WOO refers to music that could be sang by groups mostly on a street corner or in a park back in the 50's and 60's. They were songs that you could easily harmonize to without a band. For instance, "One Summers Night" was one of these songs, slow but easy to adapt to accapella. For whatever reason the girls used to like the guys who could harmonize.
Mini love CC You are absolutely right! Don't worry what other people think, if in doubt, always listen to your heart and do what you believe to be right,Your future lies ahead of you, just make it a good one
the last track on this record is amazing its one of my absolute favourites who is it?.the guys voice is outstanding he sings like an angel this i olay all the time cheers!!!!!
In 50 years time people will have something to say about that i'm sure :P anyway, this era of music was in the time after a huge war, everything was on the up, it was the golden age for just about everything, and it reflected in the music that was made by people. We live in a dark age atm, what with so many wars going on and fear spread around in the media, therefore music sucks. That's what I think anyway!
I'm a 15 year old girl and I absolutely adore the 50's music..actually music is my life! I love the oldies because the music had meaning, a connection. Nowadays its just useless overproduced crap!!
@MiniLoveCC Mostly because music back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's was the golden age of rock & roll. Back then music came from the heart. Now it comes from getting paid for it.
This is the time that Negro Groups were being accepted by us, the White listeners, although we had Pat Boone and many other White Groups we listened to. Yes! The Negro Singers did have memorable music called "DoWoop", but in the 1950s it was not really accepted.
@Agent474life well put, but i sense there is a revival coming. the more great icons we lose the more people are confronted with the music from back then. A lot of younger people are getting into it so there is still hope. And lets be honest it can't get any worse than it is now with popular music

MUSIC that makes sense and you can understand. Those were the great years of music. It reminds me, dancing with my girl friend( now my wife).
DooWop makes the most beautiful harmonies ever, brings out every emotion

young people getting into doo-wop music with heart and soul I'm glad to see young people into this.
