I had SUCH a blast sitting down and talking about Gen 5 and all other things Pokemon with ya Dusty, thank you so much for having me on and letting me talk about one of my favorite topics of all time!!!
Yes play Emerald, also the dynamic between someone who just missed Gen 5 and someone who almost fell off because of Gen 5 is good stuff. Glad u got to play em, I’m a Gen 3 guy so Gen 5 hit me around middle school so it was as much of a change as my body was going thru and i respect the maturity of Gen 5 in retrospect with lots of good memories. Definitely one of top Gen. imo I would say the best Gamefreak can do is give us BW & BW2 ports on switch 2 followed up by BW3. Because remaking both of em or trying to mix them wouldn’t work that great. So many kinds of fans who never even played em. So I think ports for both then BW3 could be ur big 3D game
Remember when people hated it because it was a soft reboot? I was just starting middle school when gen 5 came out and I remember begging my grandma to take to game stop early in the morning so I could be the first out of my friends to play it 😂 Then I started playing soul silver and that game is also one of my top 5 pokemon games - I even used the poke walker when I was in school.
Slapping a condensed version of the BW2 elements into a BW-remake sounds like the worst of all the options if I'm being honest. Because it'd just end up being heavily compromised in a lot of ways. At that point just make a new game instead and rerelease Gen5 as ports.
I think Game Freak themselves are done making remakes. I think they are sticking to new generation and Legends games only. I think from now on and remakes that get done will be done by separate studios like with BDSP. But I heard they have a separate studio that's part of Game Freak called Pokeworks, so if remakes get done, it'll probably be by that studio
I started playing Pokemon with Platinum, Battle Revolution, Soul Silver and Black 2 when I was like 10 years old, I´m 24 now. I´m still hoping they get Gen 5 remakes right
I'm so confused by all the talk about legends ZA being in the past, how the city was, where would the pokemon be? I feel like that's a wrong assumption, it's a current legend in the making, not past history but current history That's what I felt was the intent with the trailer The trailer was showing the redevelopment plan of Luminous city, REdevelopment, implying that the city is already developed and full of humans, as it was in X and Y But then they redevelop the city to bring back pokemon to the city, make the city greener, more nature, reintroduce the pokemon that once lived there The pokemon site literally says A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. It's a game that is going to take place in the present time trying to bring back balance between the humans and pokemon for a better life for all Reflection of the current world view of going green and getting a better balance between us and our planet I'm so perplexed that it is not a logical take away from legends ZA trailer
The world building, design conception, and overall gameplay loop for some reason felt more satisfying in Sword & Shield compared to my time in Scarlet. I enjoyed Scarlets story far far more but I have about 200+ more hours in Shield and around 90+ in Scarlet. I used to average around 300+ hours on the gen 1-7. Both of you were exceptional in your analysis in this video.
On the topic of how they would tackle B/W& B/W2 was how you both mentioned through a time skip and in a complete package. Although with how they approached Bdsp I fear it will just be B/W and that’s it
If you want both in the same game how about after you complete the 1st one you unlock new game plus were you play number 2 and then after you completed 2 you unlock new game plus plus with new extra contact that function as a epilog a few years after 2. Now you have the full map with maybe a new area or 2. The other character your not playing has their current team so you can battle against them and see if you can beat them. It might be fun making your own "Rival's" team.
I am 27 and get into Pokemon in year 2013 i was gameboy color games made for java symbian phones after playing them i didn't gave a shit about Pokemon get back into it at 2018. And fun fact Pokemon was my first anime exposure and i am talking about ancient times when i was in primary standard and i am saying this coz i am from india i didn't knew Pokemon will stick with me for this long.
What I wish for is a good remake in modern style like ORAS, something aka "Gen 5 remake in Gen 10", not BDSP + Legends for underrepresentated legendaries like Mew and Celebi or the ones that have some kind of story to explore jak Kyurem
I just want something good lol , maybe something in the legends style i agree , but with online features so u dont have to wait a year to play these pokemon competitively
I was loving this conversation until they started talking about having blocked off areas again. Like? What do you mean you want to be restricted? I hear what they’re saying, but having a linear game again makes no sense. Maybe because I didn’t grow up playing Pokémon since I was a child but having blocked off areas again is sooo boring and restrictive for no reason
Do you not remember all the mini episodes and specials with pokemon in clearly artificial environments? Pikachu Shorts 1 and 7 are excellent references for pokemon operating in artificial environments.
Imo they have 2 options A platinum version (grey) Or BW3 Bw remake wont work because they cant fit in bw2 in even as dlc, different protagonist They will either choose different timeline or continuation
Pokémon B3W3 doesn't make sense nowadays because of 3 simple factors: A) it's been over a decade, new fans don't wanna commit; B) Unova's story is about duality, a 3rd entry disrupts that; C) we already got narrative closure in Masters EX, so the best approach would be Let's Go Ebony & Let's Go Ivory. This would be a Unova midquel where you play as someone who isn't Hilda or Rosa and you get Iris as your new rival. The Battle Subway is closed since it only has Emmet and the PWT would host Trainers from Gens 5-9 instead of 1-5. Give us a 4th Elemental Monkey in GO to act like Meltan and a 5th Musketeer to act as the Enamorus of this postgame. Anything can happen tho. I would like to see Tera Raids in the Hidden Grottos as we get Elemental Gems as rewards. This would be a Paradox Game where Southwest Unova from B2W2 is an open zone. Have Darach be in Caitlin's home. And the now Routes 19 and 20 would be from Undella to Lentimas and Undella to Humilau (no Marine Tube, use Dive). Lots of mons need to be part Fairy tho: Unfezant, Sawsbuck, Musharna, Cryogonal, Cinccino, Alomomola, Meloetta, etc. Also, in the original BW, Ghetsis got bailed of prison because the Shadow Triad attacked Cheren. If B2W2 was the postgame then we would be battling Colress in the Plasma Frigate to PREVENT the sequel. And we would get Genesect from Scientist Dudley in the P2 Labs. Let us get the God Stone AT LAST. Also, just to clarify this, we have 80/156 Unova Pokémon in the Regional Dex of Kalos (80/134, excluding legendaries). There's still some love to give. Imagine an Heatmor evolution and a Mega Durant with FLASH FIRE.
That's why I don't call them remakes and call them remasters instead. A remake is what ff7 is doing with remake, intergrade, rebirth, and whatever part 3 is because I don't remember what it's called. Those game have the whole story completely rewritten (whether it's better or not is a different story for another day) to better flush the timing of events and retcon things that were completely out of place or were never expanded upon. On top of that, the style of gameplay completely changed to better fit the modern games and have extra things to do that weren't present in the original. Pokémon "remakes" don't do any of that and are literal ports with updated mechanics and art style while maybe adding a very small bit of new content in the game. This is why I will always call them remastered games.
"Do you want to play as a boy or a girl?" might not be said in the possible remakes since BDSP would say "Choose a look for yourself." Other problems would also include making the Generation 5 remakes just be like BDSP by design too where not much of the new stuff will be added and some of the stuff from the originals will be scrapped too. ORAS is the prime example of Pokémon remakes done right, even though there is no Emerald remake, which is a shame.
@@oven723 Genres are not even an issue. There is already other video games kids can play. They may play reading adventure games too. Rock music listeners, while not video game-related, just listen to rock music. I have never heard of "genre issues."
I definitely plan to play og gen 1 once. Like I said i got it on my 3DS!!! Just a matter of when I'm feeling it!!! And Id LOVE to play through emerald, im praying that at some point Nintendo either does a virtual console or put it on the NSO
I had a lot of problems with gen 5. I would avoid a remake like the plague if it is too faithful to the originals cause they would give me no value. My first main problem is gen 5 had no ribbons you can earn. Not even for beating the E4. I shiny hunt in all games except gen 5 because gen 5 provides 0 value over getting them in gen 3-4 or 6+. Nor is there any cool or interesting shiny hunting mechanics. My next gripe is the old apriballs did not come over, no safari zone so no safari balls, no bug catching competition (despite so many new bug pokemon) so no sport ball. The dream ball was only available for dream world and dream radar. The dream world is no longer available and such makes dream balls basically non existant. Why get any shiny pokemon from gen 5 when I can get it in gen 6 easier, in a more interesting way and ribbon it in the same game? Further I found the post game battle facilities to be rather dull, especially when they first came out. They had no cool mechanics or anything. It was fine but not much reason to do it. BW2 was better when you considered BP and what you can get with them but modern days no real fun/rewards in doing them unlike gen 3-4's or gen 6+ for ribbons. Gen 5 flopped hard for me when it comes to post game replayability. If the argument is gen 5 is the best story game in Pokemon then there might be an argument but in 2010 12 yr old me who played other games with good story like The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade etc. Was not impressed. Like sure a 5 is greater than a 4 but it is still a 5. Not once were my expectations subverted in terms of story. N, Ghetsis, seemed generic in comparison to other fantastic stories/characters at the time. Heck I would say all the Mystery Dungeon Games are the true peak Pokemon Story (Minus gates to infinity). Pokemon Ranger was also more compelling compared to gen 5 in terms of story and character development.
I had SUCH a blast sitting down and talking about Gen 5 and all other things Pokemon with ya Dusty, thank you so much for having me on and letting me talk about one of my favorite topics of all time!!!

Holy shit, I think the first 5min made the bones in my back crack as I felt the age of being a Pokémon fan since 1996 hit me.
Gen 5 is my favorite of all time. Gen's 1 and 2 are Legendary, but Gen 5 is what got me back into Pokémon as a freshman in high school.

What if all the work they did to revamp The grand underground in bdsp was just prep work for whatever they're going to do in The catacombs of ZA??

BW1 base game, BW2 DLC
