Why the foam spray goes between "gas" and the foam? I don't know if I explain myself well, excuse me if my English is not very good. But what I mean is that in the video you see that it does not constantly shoot foam, but at the beginning of the shot it is like gas.
I noticed that too. Seems like it only shoots as a good "foam" when it's fully depressed and flowing full speed. At the start or end of a press, it just kind of mists out.
First of all, awesome vid 👍🏻. I used to use the "Mace Magnum 4 gel-stream" in a real incident and it took app. 30-40 seconds til the effect kicked in. Scary long time when things go south! Now, I use the straight stream of the same brand.
P.S.: Given one typically doesn't spray until the arm is fully extended (and so vulnerable to deflection by a quick-witted target), I don't whether it could be a good close-distance tool. There's no 'shooting from the hip' scenario. Also, it goes without saying that one shouldn't move into the air-space that's been contaminated. It seems like a spray while retreating mode might be the ideal one.
also very good tips. I always respect what seems like life experience Bob. let me know down the line any other tips you have for us, id love to hear em
I think this clip is a good example of how to use spray. Walking backwards while distracting to keep distance and only moving in when the target is already hit. tinyurl.com/y24wjacz
The thing is that you should have the can out of the holster and in your hand way before you need it. Pepper spray isn't for the "shooting from the hip" scenario- rather thats a scenario where the taser is more appropriate.
@@bobsaffron8284 not quite- as a civilian, you shouldn't be "moving in" unless you have law enforcement training, as you are subjecting yourself to more danger by doing this. Also, most states impose a duty to retreat in terms of nonlethal force use. "Stand your ground" laws only apply in deadly force type situations.
To this guy, everything is "Nice" or "quite nice". For some reason, everyone I see on TH-cam doing reviews of pepper sprays, they all have this mistaken believe that a tiny can of pressurized liquid should be used at long distance. WTF? Is common sense dead and buried in America now? This stuff is not much different than spraying WD-40 or Raid bug spray, do you ever spray that stuff from 12 ft away? how about 8 ft? No, you don't, you would never think it's pressurized to use at that distance, but if you make the container a fraction of the size, now is it better at a long distance, going to give good coverage? No. This Pepper spray stuff is only good for up close and personal for 3 good reasons, there is that word again "reason", it implies you thinking and not following or obeying others, but thinking for yourself. The 3 best reasons tiny cans of spray are only made to be used at close range are, number 1, coverage, the closer you are to the bad guys face, the more will get on his face. 2 the closer you are, the better chance of hitting your target so you can start getting that coverage on the face, you have to hit the face or it won't work well, even with a fog. 3 Wind, if it's at all windy, you need to be close so the wind will not make you miss. You will only get once shot, if you miss or not get much on the face, you will still get attacked and that's losing big time. A woman has no chance against a man in hand to hand fighting, forget everything you have seen in the movies, that is fake, women can't beat up a man. They are too weak and small and frail compared to men, so please don't read the label and think because it says good out to 15 ft that it means you should start spraying a bad guy at that range, you will lose because once they see you have that spray, they will put their head down and charge and it won't do a thing to prevent that. Your only hope as a women is to get close, like 5 or 6 ft. and spray them in the eyes, back and forth and move to the side and keep spraying so it will be all over his face and hands. Buy Fox 5.3 spray cone or stream but cone is best for women.
The fog seems great UNLESS it's breezy or windy, and then I have serious doubts about it. At which wind speed does it stop being effective? I'm either going to get the fogger or the stream.
A test was done in windy 10-15 mph conditions. The Sabre Red stream preformed the best, plus had the longest duration of spray time. Some only spray for half a second. Him using mace as a term for /of pepper spray is somewhat wrong. Mace is a brand name that proceeded pepper spray back in the '70s. I'm not sure, but think it was some type a tear gas spray. Mace brand name DOES make pepper spray, and like many other companies, have it at different strengths. You Tube Sabre Red! Get the stream because it works faster than the gel!
This is why I’d be reluctant using pepper spray because I’d be afraid it would spray back on me. I bought my first stun gun today. I feel better using that if I ever needed to defend myself.
I believe they do make different strengths, however the difference is not in the burn . It is in the delivery. As you can see the foam spreads a bit more and the gel in a little bit more accurate but tends to slide around a bit. Think of it like a shaving product do you prefer the gel or the cream. Personal preference
@@gutterfightsecrets actually the gel or the foam types will tend to cause a little more burn with the equivalent OC formulation because the form holds pepper onto the skin as opposed to the liquid spray where there isn't as much "trapping" by the inert spray vehicle.
I imagine if you're betting on mace as a defense you should also be in the habit of wearing sunglasses or maybe clear lenses (if not prescription spectacles) to minimize blow-back. A baseball cap's visor might reduce ambient eye irritation. Also carrying some bottled water in case you get an eye-full in the rough and tumble.
depends on your application scenerio- If you're dealing with multiple attackers or can't target very well you want the Fog. However, the Fog blows around quite a bit and you will have to spray and move to avoid being incapacitated from blowback. However if you are properly trained to use pepper spray- you will know the effects and the attacker won't likely know the effects or be able to respond appropriately to the effects, thus giving the element of surprise. The stream requires a little more precision but isn't going to blow back as much, but you still don't want to be using it indoors. The gel and the foam have minimal blowback and are made for indoor and confined environments or where you have large groups of people and don't want to cause a panic which could lead to a riot. Personally I carry a Taser pulse to deal with individuals and a Fog pepper spray unit to deal with multiple attackers / extraction scenario. What you DON'T WANT is those keychain units- you want a Mark-2, Mark-3, or Mark-4. Those 1/4 or 1/2 ounce keychain units WILL get you hurt because they don't have enough chemical in them for more than about one or two good sprays assuming your testing the canister every three months like you're supposed to. Notably, pepper spray and O.C. spray are about equal in terms of the amount of force, but the taser tends to be illegal in more states.
I used yesterday a tear gas CS and CN spray ,but it wasn't so effective ,I mean the person who I sprayed recovered in 5 minutes ,so I will switch on OC fog
Who would OC a terrorist? I would be running the opposite direction. Terrorist attacks usually use high automatic powered firearms and/or explosives. Use your brain or run, go the distance.
Actually, in an active shooter situation, OC can, in some situations, be effective- if we know that the shooter isn't wearing a gas mask. This is because O.C. WILL close your eyes regardless of pain level, making it much more difficult to effectively use a firearm. You can then move in with other force once you have the shooter off balance, assuming you've been properly trained to use OC spray.
That was informative. You make great videos, keep up the good work brother..!
