    Just want to leave a little note here:
    If you are kind of person that want to focus more on learn something valuable for your career in depth + want your knowledge still relevant wherever you are, do not go for consulting roles. I agree with her statement that says consulting works more on project/client specific knowledges.

      @Sara-sc5sf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can give you info about the hierarchy in Germany, but I think it’s the Same in the US:
      Business Analyst
      Consultant
      Senior Consultant
      Manager
      Senior Manager
      Director
      Partner
      If you graduate with a bachelor degree you will start as a BA and if Masters as Consultant.

    How do you know what area has high work volume? One of the teams I am considering is Finance and Performance at Deloitte

      It’s quite difficult to really know unless you know someone in the business who can tell you. If you’re junior to mid-level a good question to ask that might give you a hint could be around utilization rates, so how much of your time you can except to be staffed on project work based on the current and recent figures. In the end it depends on your local competitive landscape and the win/loss ratio and several other factors. The only way you get an idea is by talking to people. Good luck!

    Have heared better stories of the other 3 of the Big4. Friends of mine worked at Deloitte Consulting, but those were far more negative compared to the others working at other firms.

  • @jimbojimbo6873
    @jimbojimbo6873 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I disliked Deloitte consulting, it was all trial by fire and most be would give you bad feedback for asking the same question twice lol, project were also generally heavily under resourced, but that’s why they made so much money as a business.
    Overall whilst not collaborative the people were really good at their job, because the ones that weren’t left quick.

    • @annelouisefrandsen
      @annelouisefrandsen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard this before yes and I’m sure it’s valid for more big4 consulting teams than I imagine. These are such large businesses with varied working conditions and setups, subject to partners and projects and lots of other factors. Thanks for sharing a complementary view and I hope you found a better fit for your career!

    I am at Deloitte right now. And I would say don’t join. It is absolutely waste of time. Why? Because the working environment is toxic. And people behave like narcissistic.

    I experienced all of these situations in my first 3 years at Deloitte Consulting. had to fucking run and escape for my life.
    1. set up to fail then blamed for failing
    2. colleagues that have your back for half a year just to throw u under the bus during end of year reviews
    3. escalation threats, shouting managers
    4. asked for help during a project but manager asked me to search answers on wikipage on google.
    5. no work life boundaries. working overtime is expected and default culture
    6. shifting goal posts every year, got great client feedback and excellent performance reviews maxed out scores but never got promoted. (excluding the year where review got sabotaged by peers)
    7. 0 salary raise company wide when covid broke out
    8. half the team left in a year.

      Same experience! I was at deloitte Germany in the human capital practice. My learning was the only way to get promoted was kissing asses of the meanest people I’ve ever seen. I really believe that most of the managers & upwards are narcissistic psychopaths teaching the juniors the same behavior. I could tell many storys but that would be too long. However, already after a year I was looking for a great exit opportunity but found finally one after 2,5 years. So basically, I just worked 1 year doing my best and after my first round table and the unfair treatment I experienced, I just started sabotaging everything (arguing with project manager, peers, really everybody who felt could talk to me in a disrespectful way got the same back - even called my partner an asshole). Must admit that was fun. Anyways, since jan 2022 im working in the chemical industry as an internal consultant and get paid 60% more than at deloitte + my work day ends at 4pm in the afternoon..best decision of my occupational life:)

      @@Sara-sc5sf I did that before I left too :D (arguing with project manager, peers, really everybody who felt could talk to me in a disrespectful way got the same back - without calling my partner an asshole though). Deloitte is a place for psychopaths. Spread the word for the fresh grads.
