The difference between this year and summers of recent past is that it doesn't feel like we'd make crisis decisions like handing 33 year old free transfer a two year deal on deadline day. Nourry and co. Seem to have the replacement targets singled out. Did we get any Eze money from the Euro appearances? If Jake and Dykes go that would free up and bring in some nice monies. Nice vid Hoopsa. I think the main weakness is centre mid, obviously if Varane arrives that will be great but I wonder if we need another CM on top of this. Seeing Field and Colback together at Reading highlighted the lack of a real pivot player who can use the ball from that position in a positive/creative way. Sam Field is great, I just don't see it working with Colback (although it worked against Leeds!). Defnitely need another winger too. Smyth did well against Reading but he doesn't hold things up in the same way that Willock/Chair do in order to build the attack. Would love to see as striker with a different dimension too, as mentioned, someone quick and disruptive.
I agree, re the over reliance on younger options. I like the look of Bennie, could be a break out season for him and he has played plenty of first team football albeit in the A League. A deal involving Eze can change things quickly, guess we'll see. Great video as always Hoopsa!

i’m more than happy with kolli as a backup to chair as of rn. Bennie has been used in central midfield in pre season. i don’t think marti sees him as a RW
I think the economics of how we do business is still very tight still unless Eze leaves Palace. It looks like Varane may well be coming in and that would mean Hayden isn't coming back. Probably because he'd be expensive wage wise and there would be a limited sell on fee as he's 29. That said he was excellent and commanded the midfield. Varane is a prospect but has no experience at this level. It'll be interesting to see how the next few weeks play out but the left side worries me and as you say the creative attacking midfielld and striker roles are all very light.
I agree with all of that, and we are still a smaller club with financial fragility, so I’m not expecting the squad to be perfect by the end of August. I think Kolli looks ready for the first team unfortunately Lloyd looks the opposite. The Dykes cameo at Reading just confirmed how awful he is, if anyone is going to give us ££ for him I’d bite their hand off. Hopefully we can fill some of those slots and use the loan market to fill major holes that are left.

The disturbing stat is no goals in the last 3 matches. A couple against Brighton will make me feel better even if we lose 2-4.
We need 4 players. Left Back Midfielder Winger Striker Would like Paal & Dykes Sold. Mahoney - Larkeche - Bonner Loaned out until January. Qpr would then need another 3 or 4 more in to cover additional outgoings.

True, he played most of his games on either wing last season though.
