Rudgewick & Wisborough seem to both be very interesting, lovely old towns/villages. I'd love to see more of both! Especially the church at Wisborough!!! Sweephurst Farm was amazing! I loved it!!!😍
Btw....I just happened to catch that reading the other morning (as "someone" was not letting me sleep!😟) Though I didn't type in on the live to let you know I was there, I was listening to you (& Nigel & Linda) trying to work out this route. It was giving me a much needed comic relief right at that moment. So thank you for that!!!😅😉
Lovely content Richard. I used to work in Loxwood and I would often go the long way home so I could stop at that beautiful, three centred arch bridge and walk down past the aqueduct. The canal is looking a little over grown since I was last there, maybe it is because the pleasure boat doesn't go that far down anymore due to a problem at Drunswick Lock or it's just Covid again. If anyone is interested in the Wey and Arun Canal, there is a visitors centre next to the Onslow Pub and Loxwood. The pleasure boat leaves from there. Not sure if it is running this summer.
Another winner. Thought-provoking and fascinating video following historical footsteps. Whether looking at tumuli, an old house, or past industrial locations like an old mill or todays Canal Aqueduct, stimulates imagination and brings them back to life. Today' overgrowth vanishes and you see yesterday's activity happen in your mind's eye. Those who went before were just like us now but without our modern ways or paraphernalia. Imagine turning up 150 years ago with a mobile phone and its instant camera. They wouldn't believe you, you wouldn't believe their lifestyles, and there'd be no signal, nor even electricity, petrol, or indeed cars! ^-) Did you notice the Farm House roof? Small slabs at the Ridge, big slabs at the Gutter.
It seems there are a lot of quite wealthy people around those parts, actually there looks to be hoards of wealthy folk all over. I'd imagine it costs a small fortune just to keep up that little farm.
Wisborough Green is where they filmed the ‘Cricket Match’ episode of the 80s sitcom Ever Decreasing Circles. I can just picture a miserable Richard Briers under that tree now! I wonder how that old gent you bumped into there a year or so ago is? He said he’d lived there all his life and I wonder what stories he could tell? Maybe not quite old enough to remember the Punch and Judy show.
I remember a series of television programmes early 1980s, Chanel 4 I think, in which Roy Hudd recreated several of Walter Wilkinsons journeysand Peep Shows.
I note the date on your dashboard (9:14) 31 Aug 2021 - Are you also The Bald Time Traveller? LOL, great video by the way. I have done a couple of country walks around Wisborough Green, love the area.
@@RichardVobes It's quite amazing how with everything going on in the videos we pick up on a minor detail like the clock display on the dash ! 🤨Tell us Richard Have thinks got any better or worse next Summer , and why weren't you in your van ?
The perfect compliment to the book readings!
I love following in the footsteps of writers, artists, trying to imagine how a scene looked from there perspective. Much enjoyed this again.

Oh yes - I forgot about him - lovely chap!

That's right - I have read about it - but not seen them.
Walter Wilkinson didn't perform Punch and Judy; he had a number of other puppet characters.
Eaglegards...

I noticed that too! Richard is a bit of a time traveller it would seem, though why anyone would want to come back to 2020!
Oh yes - I need to correct the time machine I drive. :)

The field they used may no longer be there I guess.
YOU APPEAR NOT TO BE WEARING A SEAT BELT.
