- The beat starts at 1:09. Samples: Billy Cobham - Heather (low pass filter in full effect!, EQed while sampling. I did NOT sample the Souls Of Mischief beat)
Graham Central Station - The Jam
Linndrum Tambourine
TR-808 bass
Update (May 9, 2011)
I lost all the sequence data and same of the sampled data files after posting on TH-cam! I've been using Addonics Compact Flash reader on MPC-2000XL, and the next day, the CF card became unreadable on MPC. The CF card was still perfectly readable on PC, but since I foolishly used long name (more than 8 chars before "."), I couldn't copy all the files on the CF card. (MPC-2000XL uses non-compatible file name format for long file names.)
If saved all the files in old DOS name format, I could've saved all the contents on CF card... So, I take this incident as a lesson, from now on, I'll keep all the MPC files 8 character or less! - เพลง
I don't care what anyone says, sampling is an art! Who would've thought to speed up the original to make it sound like this. I miss the 90's...Golden Era of Hip Hop...no disrespect to the 80's.
"sims_nf" Instagram. You're welcome.
agreed
Dietric Williams that's right
Aman
That whole era was magical. Producers back then were mad creative with those samples. I miss that era so badly.😌
I can listen to the first part loop by itself forever tbh
Same here 👍
Me too
totally drunk ebayed a mpc because of this video.
drunk ebayed 😂😂😂😂 love it
yo said drunked ebay 😂😂
LOL
Shoulda been high AF while on eBay 😂💨💨🌲🌲
hahahahahaha
Probably one of the best hip hop beats ever. Amazing job
Coming from one of the best melodic masterpiecea of all time
Nick Catelli fr fr
@@jungleninja8415 What's that ?
@@marceloherrera3784 Billy Cobham-Heather
A Plus ...back then I didn't even know he was making a lot of the beats, let alone this one. For real one of the all time best and he's not even known for his beat making for the most part
Just an interesting tidbit.... if you listen to the original instrumental with some good headphones you will notice that besides the drum break and tambourines, you will also hear an additional hi-hat on all the "ands" or the off-beats. I know that's totally nerdy but I just noticed it and felt like sharing.
Not nerdy but love of music👍
If not the greatest sample it’s on the Mt. Rushmore of Hip Hop Samples. Can listen to this all day!!!
Absolutely. A crowning achievement in production.
@@sahildoshi4438all day long my bros its s classic!
The instrumental that shaped a generation
Honestly did though. Wish I could go back to all the live shows seeing them.
Since i first heard this song in the summer of 1993, it's been my favorite hip hop song of all time ever since
Even tho I‘m born in 2006 I always imagine that I‘m playin basketball in the summer of 93 while listening to this song
Still chilling in 2023
This is how we chill… in 2024!!
Arguably one of the top 10 greatest beats in hip hop
Facts!
Hip hop samples and music in the 90's was the best decade. They used a lot of Jazz & Fusion samples from the 1970's for their rap music! Rap music was better in the 90's & early 2000's too !
In the 2000 changes a lot for me ...the beats were so futuristics and pop orientend i prefer 90's all the way
04 was when rap truly fell off, sure we got 50 cent but it became pop real quick for some reason. Kanye, Eminem and lil Wayne are the true pioneers who changed the rap game for the worse which is honestly sad. I do kinda miss this genre.
you made this video 11 years ago and when i listened today i still seeing comments from yesterday. dope.
yo
top 5 beat of all time
Chillin in 2024
Over 30 years of chillin'

Till infinity ig
Whole time buddy had what he was sampling in the fn frame 😮. I see that billy cut back there. Heather. Beautiful number ❤
Biggup to A-Plus for crafting this beautiful masterpiece
93 til has been in my top 5 since I first heard it mid 90s. It was every snowboard mix cd early 2000s. It’s on every one of my playlists that aren’t separated by genre. It calms me down when I’m anxious. It excites me when I want to get out.
That's so cool! I swear some songs just don't get old. Same with Illy Filly Funk and Rather Unique
Nice. This beat gives me chills. Big up the whole Bay Area!
Memories of my childhood
I remember I started making beats and cratedigging just because I saw this video 5 years ago. Thanks man!
@keepyourlovesafe I did sample "Heather" on 45 RPM, pitch set to 0. I did pitch up on MPC side as well. I also EQed it before sampling, I used the Portastudio for that. What you see on the video clip is all I use for making beat basically. The sound is taken straight from the MPC-2000XL.
It's such a fast beat but still sounds authentic boombap
Only real producer could watch this
Dubs Banger is good too.
this is how we chill from 93 til...
23 til
My teenager years in the early 90s. Amazing memories
How old are you now ?
I’m from 93 so i didn’t experience the 90s as a teenager. How was it?
0:12, 0:33, 1:47, 2:43, 3:49 This is so awesome! Even the instrumental for 93 Till Infinity is amazing by itself! 💯❤️😎👏
If you like this beat you may love the original sample. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and always reminds me of 93 Till
Billy Cobham - Heather
0:13 - 0:41 just can’t be described with words. It’s pure greatness
@1:29 the international sign of dropping the beat 😎
DAMN ...SHIT GAVE ME THE CHILLS ALMOST SHED A TEAR 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥DOPE ASF 💯
Same here. Song is very dear to my heart. Class of 1993 West Haven, CT....Shout out to my old school crew...peace.
This beat is for eternity.
Indeed
Bro it's crazy you can do this I know it may seem simple too you but it truly is a piece of art
Well done Bro. Mad Props. I took that 'Heather' sample and flipped it with some other drums a while back just for fun. Definitely one of my fav HIP HOP beats ever. But once I found out what the sample was, 'Heather' by Billy Cobham has become a very important piece of music in my life. Whenever i'm buggin out from the stress in this world, I spark a blunt, drop the needle on 'Heather' and she centers me every time yo. Stay blessed. Keep on. Peace Shoji.
Amazing man! This is one of the best recreations I´ve ever seen, period.
It was so good that the video even got copyrighted lol

Much love for re-creating one of the greatest Hip-Hop beats of all time.
this will have a million views one day
Man, at 0:45 I always think about how I wanna loop this with how nicely that kick would break into the sample if it continued. Love this video. Its good to know in an apocalypse we can still mix dope beats!
Never realized A-Plus used The Graham Central drums for his! Super EQ'ed! Another dope remake, bro!
Incredible that this song is sampled in both The Mahdi by Underachievers and 93' till infinity by Capital Steez
Not really. The song is so Known and the beat is so good, who wouldn't remake it. Mostly Capital Steez and the whole Pro Era crew.
Here for the 93rd time
So fucking dope! I miss filters in hip hop
one of my favorite beats of all time... nice job mayn
Euphoric.
I'm loving you're work man...amazing
I bought an MPC One recently and after a few months this had shown up in my suggested playlist.

OMG ONE OF MY FAVEEEE HIP HOP SONGS!!! Had so much 90's flavor it could explode! Good work man
Superb remake of this, I find your vids most enjoyable, I got a knackered 2000xl on ebay and done it up, such a rewarding process. I hope to post some of my beats soon.

This made me smile. Just dope!
This sounds amazing, nice job
these song heals your soul
You flexed this. Best hip hop beat of all time.
your vid cauth alot of view recently!
i think you deserve it!
One of the best beats ever imo
U nailed it. One of the better remake vids I've seen
For the Billy Cobham samples, I pitched up (33 to 45 RPM), boosted lower end, then sampled it. Also MPC-2000XL has low-pass-filter, which I used it for this beat. I don't compress vinyl samples. Sound on vinyls are almost always mastered with fair mount of compression.
@Sinosure Thank you for your kind comment. I lost the data files shortly after shooting the video. Well, I re-done the same beat after that again! I'll post it with better video & audio quality when I have time.
Give love to "Heather" Billy Cobham
No
this has to be one of my favorite videos.
Old Skool here, and yes I approve this groove!!!!!
U hit it on da mark great job 😜🎼🔥🔥🔥🔥🎶🎵🔥🔥
Timeless Classic Beat
I wanna go back to 90s. Feck'in hate so much technology, selfies, self-centeredness. Things were a lot simpler earlier. Nobody gives a crapola to anything these days. Miss those days when everything had more meaning to it.
we're always self centered, growing up in the 80s it was name belts and big gold. Now you just see it more because of smart phones.
Jay Brown Self centered for Name belts and Big Gold is less douchey, at least all your acquaintances/friends/family/random online friends/phone friends didn't have to see it, so 90's was much better.
right on. And you could enjoy counter culture and digging for the CD latest album or mixtape which you cherished. Now everything's saturated with no value to be dismissed in 5 seconds.
Milan Sharma Hate technology and yet you have a car in your profile picture? Don't be a luddite.
i wish there were 93 like buttons
Might be a perfect remake! Nice work.
amazing, congrats for a remake thats so on point.
Just out of question, how did you get the hook sample, u know the vibraphone (i think its a vibraphone) samples with out the drums to interfere with your drums? Everytime i try to recreate my self, the drums intefere with mine and it sounds too messy. help
You make feel good music 🎶 my friend sounds good 👌🏾 especially coming out if that Mpc 2000XL.
respect. mpc forever
GREASTEST BEAT EVER!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS SO MUCH
Mush love for the crew out of my home townnn OOOakland....
Really nice remake dude! :D Very well done!
Peace
Another dope track so 420 vibe to chill.
You are a genius!!!!! LOVE IT!!
This beat + underground intelligent MC + pressing on 12" = DOPE PIECE O WAX.
Respect from Poland!
@pOBrain It's not echo, no effect used at all, I just sample triggered like that, I just changed velocity so that it sounds like echo.
Nice remake man. I f'king love that beat
i'm so joyfulled out that peeps still do this
this is so good that im putting this in my inspirational playlist and its hard to get in their, bravo good sir
I think you did an awesome job!!! all from scratch too. epic.
Awesome Recreation with Just The Beat!

*The beat's mad phat yo. Word up kid. Straight up and down son. Madddd flava yo! One of the illest beats ever. No doubt, dun. Funky fresh production. Word life yo.*

Fire bro keep doing what you doing man.
Heather. Billy Cobham.
What sample is the casino slot machine synth from 0:42 :) Thank you for this video it takes me back to the old sampling days haha
TheRealRedWolf It's from Billy Cobham 'Heather' same as all the other elements (except the beat).
George Duke on synth! He played in a lot of jazz tracks even with Frank zappa, he is missed RIP.
The original was made on ASR-10
Eudon Robinson Jake One and Kanye still use the ASR 10 to this day because it uses little memory from what I understand.
Eudon Robinson I thought a plus had an EPS
That ASR really gave the hook part of the song that nice aliasing. I love the gritty harmonics coming off of it.
Time to buy a asr-10 to add to the collection
